About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Dear Tracey , your doing womankind proud with your use of power tools 🥰👍❣️
Jonathan - your grandma` is a badass - just in case you don`t already know that 😉😉😉😉
I agree with Mum...a big no to the 1970s boat wheel lamp. That does not belong in a Chateau and the Titanic would never have displayed any manner of that. Love the silver bathroom set and gotten stool
I’m absolutely addicted to dark, ornate, antique furniture. I need to buy lottery tickets, win the lottery, and buy a chateau to fill with loads of beautiful pieces like those two sideboards. My grandparents had some beautiful pieces they got in barn sales. I was absolutely in love with some of them.
Loved your shopping video and Jonathan is a sweetheart looking forward to your next video love to you all from B C 🇨🇦
Hi! The "vases" that you saw is for bringing humidity into the room. You fill them with water and hang them on the radiator. Love to follow you! 😊
Much better than what we have today. In my house it’s an enormous electric humidifier that barely changes the humidity in the room. And so difficult to clean every few days!
Came to the comments to say exactly the same thing.
Wow! I have some that we call 'wall pockets' and are supposed to be vases. Thank you for the information.
@@nancibishof6462 no these are not wall pockets at all that’s totally different. This style is meant to hang against a flat radiator they make a different style shape as a T to fit between the sections of an old radiator.
If you add a bright green rooted vine (not English ivy) to the humidifier wall vase it adds color to the room and helps balance the inside air. You'll add water more often but it's worth it to clean the air.
When you go to put your kitchen in you might consider putting in drawers for all your lower cabinets as that will save your back when you go to take pots and pans out.
Tony is very skilled and particular with everything he does. Loved the shopping so important for good health.
I loved that cabinet with the carved figures on the front. Absolutely stunning
Love that sweet Jonathan!
Like your blog very much , nort not crazy for todays music
Tracy, Amazon has a good looking lantern, sort of Farmhouse style selling for $79.00. Good luck
Oh my word Tracy you amaze me drilling out that wall, up a ladder as well. Well done.
She is an amazing woman 🥰
After a busy day, I’m just sitting down to watch this episode. Looking forward to it. 👍
Buy that display cabinet. I think Ash would love it. Anyways, you’ve my permission 😉👍
Irish Tayto cheese and onion. Very thoughtful and kind of Josephine. Jonathan, adorable as always.❤️
@@derekbriggs6207 I’ve laughed at some of the video Jonathan is just yadayadayada and Terry just seems not to even notice and carries on. 🤣😂🤣
@@jimmyconnolly3461 ikr but did you hear him “I need to buy wiring” Style🤷🏻♂️Substance
Love tagging along from my living room second hand shopping with you all. So much fun!!
Glad you enjoyed our shopping trip 🥰
mmm Me too, do go back and buy those over heater thingies you thought were vases, i loved them and they will be practical.
Marble top sideboard would be a great bar
I LOVE the wardrobe with the gold trim 😍 It‘s so unique. ❤️🥰 The „rocking chair“ is actually a footstool the higher end supports the calves and the small part for the feet. Jonathan is such a cutie 🥰🥰
I saw that little chair and thought it would be a good thing to have, so glad you got it. Jonathan did a great job with the closeing
What an awesome activity for mother and son to enjoy together. I can't wait to tag along. 😀
It’s always fun when we go shopping 🥰
Tracey you are so brave to climb up a ladder!, making such a good of it too. Love the door Tony put up in front of the electrics.❤️
What would be nice to find is a towel heated wall multi rail to warm the towels.
Villeroy and Boch floor tiles are the best quality you can get. What a great purchase you made there. Can’t wait to see them down.
The little rocking chair is actually a antique gout stool to relive the pain of goat in your feet
I’d literally go bankrupt 🤣🤣🤣 I have a massive addiction to shopping. If I was there, my husband would bury me in the garden 🤣🤣 So many beautiful pieces. God bless. Don’t forget tea sets for each bedroom! Don’t mind me, I’m just helping you spend. 🤣🤣🤣 Ash don’t get miffed 🤣
Lucky you to have such practical and helping parents!
❤️🏰 Thank you for the vlog; Tracy and Tony are amazing, great progress on the cottage, 🛍️ finds
I love the lamp that's in the foreground of the cottage footage 👍❤️
@@derekbriggs6207 I noticed ☺️
I trust your tacky light choice! You love it and I know it will be perfect 👍 more shopping please, we love it 😍 I mean one day a week would be great for shopping 😉
I miss Tony. Prays for all yall.
A while back you called for volunteers for next summer. We can’t come then but my husband and I would love to help in 2023. Please put us on you list! Robin and Russ Lea from Seattle Washington.
Terri!!! Light!!!
Those floral print, wooden chairs.. don't laugh.. a decorator in Toronto had a set.. covered in beautiful outdoor fabric, painted the wood pastel.. Nice for our version of a cottage.. you would probably call our cottages.. Chalets by a lake.
Ohhhhh Terry, loving that bathroom accessory set!!! Stylish and gorgeous, you have a great eye!!!! Big hug to Ash ❤ Tony, you made hanging that slider door look way to easy, great to see the cottage coming along so fast. 😀
😍 I could a spend a whole day in places like this shop...
They arent vases, you hang them off radiators filled with water to help humidity your house! My mum used to have ones that looked exactly the same, straight from the 80s those! 😜
Great job Jonathan! Well done with talking at the ending of the video.
What a beautiful door to hide the wiring. So lovely
25:13 He's so adorable! Brought a big smile to my face. 😻 I like the ships wheel lantern 🙂👍 This kitchen tiles will look great!
Dear Tony I am shocked by how beautiful you made that electric s cupboard top notch work and the barn door is perfect ❣️❣️❣️❣️
You’re right Jonathan, cheese and onion Tayto’s are the best !!! Great work guys !!!
Love the finds, The cottage is going to be beautiful… it already is. Terry the music is killing me, it makes me anxious instead of relaxing. You all are doing a great job❤️
I’m in the hospital had leg surgery. I’m enjoying your videos. Love your new home. You’ve got wonderful taste. Thank You for sharing your wonderful videos. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Feel Better! 💐
@@rosebudame thank you so very much. ❤️
The "rocking chair" is a footstool. Often called a gout stool. Supporting the lower leg and adjustable to the user.
Exactly
Thank you for identifying the gout stool! I saw similar at thrift store on Vancouver Island and wondered what the heck is that! Now I know. Cheers Wendy from Canada.
It’s gout that people know and share these things.
OMG Terry 🤭 every piece of furniture you loved in the Brocante are absolutely stunning !!! Perfect for your Chateau !!! (It has to be look grand) Great that Tony got a taste of Brocante shopping 😆 Take care everyone 👷♂️🤓🥰
Well done Johnathon 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The "rocking chair" is a footstool. Often called a gout stool . 😁
Some lovely wardrobes and cupboards. The glass cabinet with red shelves would be great for the bathroom for towels, loo rolls etc and some fancy bubble baths in glass bottles...
Hi everyone, another lovely video! Tony the sliding door really suits, it looks wonderful...great job! Love shopping with you guys, I think Terry & Tracy would be dangerous if they went by themselves, but I love all you bought, really lovely pieces...probably a good thing Tony was with I think. 😊 Awe how cute is Jonathan...I hear those crisps are delicious! Thank you for sharing, always nice to see you all, take care, stay well! Much love Kathy x💖 (Ontario, Canada)
Well done Jonathan!
Terry, what you called „little vases“ are actually humidifiers which you fill with water ans then hang on radiators.
I also like the 'tacky' lamp Terry!! I'm sure you will find an appropriate place for it. Cheers!
I think it’s only me and you Nicola 🥰🥰
Terry, the lamp is fine. Buy what you like, it is part of making the chateau your home! Both Britain and France have great naval traditions, a naval themed bedroom seems most appropriate! :-)
Great find on the floor tiles Tony. Love the bathroom fixtures and blue lamp. I enjoy brocanting as well, even though our stores in Ontario are not as great as Emmaus. I saw quite a lot of things which I would have purchased. Tony, you did a super job with hiding all of those wire and hoses with the barn down. Looks great and practical.
Thank you very much 🙏🥰
Just one question did you label the wires on the electrical panel Tony? Hope you do as it would be difficult to identify them otherwise. And you are probably the only person with any idea what they’re for.
Enjoyed. I love buying from resale shops.
Because every penny you put in both places it will help if ( if ) you ever have to sale. We never know what will come our way in the future. God forbid this to ever happen. Future means to be prepared so you got to think about the future. Love all of you 💗💗
Nice to see Tony join you. The kitchen tiles are a terrific find. Terry, if you can't find a room for the "wheel clock," Jonathan might like it in his room.:)
Tracy is "Super Woman" 💪 and sweet Johnathan is becoming a Shinning Star 🌟 What a beautiful job on the sliding door Tony! W😍W!!
Looking forward to this , I’m a antique dealer in the U.K. and when I’m watching you shopping i see so much I would want to buy ,
How wonderful, yes there is so much I would love to buy but way out of my budget 😂🥰
Wow what a fabulous Emmaus haul. I love the floor tiles, really Villeroy and Boch? Love the big display cabinet, if it stays there much longer you’ll get it at a knock down price. Love your lamp Tracy, love the bathroom set Terry, but oh dear, that other lamp 🤦♀️Hide it Tracy, preferably under those lovely floor tiles 😂😂😂
@@paris0551 😂😂😂 I love the ship lamp 😂 thank you very much 🥰
@@chateaudelalacelle You really make me laugh. Loving sharing your journey x

Morning everyone at the chateau. Finished watching video after missing live premier😔. Love the lamp and the tiles well everything really🤣. Can’t wait to see tiles down. Hope you are all having a great day much love to all xxxx
Love the lamp Tracy, we call it thrift shopping here and we love to find the bargains. Also, its lovely to see things being reused and given a second life. You too Terry!!!
Goodness it were me I would make a workshop in an out building and buy a bunch of those old tools still the strongest and some new high tech ones drills, sanders etc and utilize some of the amazing fallen trees on the property.
Fabulous tiles and a bargain too. Love watching you all going around these brochants. What bargains. Similar our charity shops which I am hooked on. Love watching your journey as you all work through the chateau and cottage. 👌Good luck with remaining rooms and can't wait to see some of them finished. All the best from West Coast of Scotland 🏴
Delightful, the ending was adorable.
He is cute bless him 🥰
Bravo Tracy! look at you go-I've also been renovating my home and like you, I'm often shocked that some things are more straight forward than I would have thought...YAY! for girl power. thank you all for your videos!
Definitely, I think you have to give it a go 🥰
This guy Budo, on French Farmhouse Diaries, did the most comprehensive & easy to understand video on how to point!
@@susanfabian1521 they know him Budo made the doors and the window to the Cháteau, and the are Patreons of du la Lacelle.
@@susanfabian1521 hi Budo and Tracey's family know eachother. Budo made the most amazing new chateau doors. Eagerly waiting when they will be mounted. If you check old budo vlogs you can see how they were made
Another great view thank you 🇦🇺 🇫🇷
I love the door you installed Tony....I love those! Good job on the brocante shopping folks....love the little chair/stool...I have one with an antique doll sitting on it! Nice bathroom fittings too!!! Jonathan is so cute!!!! Thank you for another good visit!
The cottage is getting closer to completion thanks to your efforts. Your hard work is paying off. Can not wait to see your kitchen renovation. The first step is made you have beautiful tiles for the floor now. Terry, your sailor lamp might look good in Jonathan's room if Tracy permits. 😉The bathroom set looks rather interesting. Hope to see it in place soon. And I am in love with that display cabinet. It would look fantastic in your chateau. Very classy.
The light will be perfect in the nautical rooms
Bargains galore!
My aunt lives in Tuscany and she has those square ceramic - what you called "vases" - with the hooks. They hang on the radiators, and I think that water is put in them to add some humidity to the air. The ones you saw are pretty. Hers are hand painted by local artists and are lovely too. Just like the lamp Tracy scored! Really enjoyed today's episode (let's be honest; I enjoy all of them!) but in particular this one, because it reminds me of wandering the epic (what us Aussies would call) carboot sale in Tuscany, where you can buy things manufactured before Australia was even colonised. I can't wait to go back. Your videos, even though French, gives me 'homesickness' for my second home. Thanks! PS Good job sucking in... I mean... 'educating' Tony to this kind of shopping! (Sorry Derrick!😉) Treasure hunting at it's finest. Look out, Ash.😂
The door looks fantastic as does the vent hole !
Tacky is relative. 😂😂
Hi Terry 🙂 You should make a list of furniture, wardrobes, beds, lamps etc, that you will need in the Chateau, and get a storage space set up somewhere, where things can just sit safely and not be in the way, until they are needed. The thing about having to find things on a budget, in thrift stores and fleamarkets, is that you have to buy, when the great deal appears. If you don't, you might not find it again when you need it, or ever, at that particular price. Oh, and that damaged painting? If you wanted, you could actually cut it down, put it on a new, smaller stretcher, find a new frame - and still have a nice painting - and since it is ripped, you'd probably get it for next to nothing.
Always love going window shopping with you all.
Thank you 🥰
Love all your presentations of your vlogs with music and change of content 🥰
Thank you, so glad you enjoy it 🥰
The floral 'vases' are for putting water in and hanging on radiators to stop the room being too dry. It's a very French thing !
How cool does that space looks now Tony? Love the work you do!
The curved bit of your bathroom set is to hold a circular/ oval mirror above a basin. Would slot into channel and might be adhered in.
I knew that someone would know...thanks for the answer!
I just love when you guys go to the antique shop or thrift store please do more videos regarding that it’s just so nice, I wish I was shopping 🛍 with you.
Tacky Terry - the light is beyond tacky - I am defiantly with Tracy on this one 🤭. Love the sliding door. What an amazing difference to spaghetti junction behind it. Brilliant taking g us along on your second hand expedition - apart from the tacky lamp😂 see you Sunday guys.
I am with mom on the hideous lamp. I wonder, what Ash said...
Darling Johnathan! What a precious boy! So smart and so adorable! I’m sort of partial to boy’s as my four grandson’s are boy’s! What bargains you’ve found and used in your homes! So much fun shopping with you! Terry has such great taste! Love your video’s and trying to get caught up on them. You’re all such hard worker’s! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🎄🎄🎄🎁🎁🪅⛄️🌨 Merry Christmas from Oregon, USA 🇺🇸
Boy Terry your mom is not afraid of working so hard.
Line your roller tray with foil Tony. When you have finished, throw the foil away. Much easier clean up..
Every house has to have a bit of whimsy to make it home so that is what your ship wheel mirror is!
A successful thrift trip! Love the finds! Wonderful incentive to start readying that kitchen knowing the floor tiles are set to go. Hoping some volunteers are able to make their way down to make light work of it. I keep forgetting to pick up a card when I head to town so may send one for the Chateau. (Have taken on some temporary work till Fall which shocks my routine and body lol for awhile) However, I will remember! Love to see you all get out and pick up a few goodies....always fun incorporating new stuff in with the old, even Terry's nautical lamp!😉 Decorating has to have whimsey and fun too! Good job on the sign off Jonathan! Politeness and manners never go out of style! Much ❤️ to all from a very snowy slushy 🇨🇦 Mariya
Omg Terry how could you resist. I would have bought atleast 4 wardrobes, the cabinets you liked ánd the 6 upholstered chairs.
I know, I have to be good 🥰
That ship's wheel would go perfect in the bedroom of the 4 year old son of the KZheadrs DIYfferent. He is obsessed with ships.
What???
@@Tony-InLosAngeles there is a little 4 year old boy in Florida that loves ships. He draws big ships, the old kind that had wheels like that. His parents have a KZhead channel and have gotten him things like that to decorate his bedroom. I didn't mean to confuse, offend, or make anyone mad like yourself. It was a comment about the ship wheel with the lantern inside of it that Terry had purchased, that is all.
@@crinkle2649 Okay 1st off I just commented “what” that is not a reference to being “mad nor offended” what’s offensive is your response back to me. Your original comment was obtuse. 2nd if you had included the background information from this comment with your original comment then it would have all made sense.
@@Tony-InLosAngeles wow, I think you need to reread my first comment 🤭.
Girl power. Everything is looking great.
I saw that foot stool (yes it is a foot stool for a rocking chair so you can put your feet up and it will rock with you as you sit and rock in the chair) as you were walking over to the pictures and thought they should get that. Great minds think alike I guess! I love asain style blue and white china Tracy! Awesome finds! Terry your the only one who likes that lamp. lol
I love the sales!!
Like the sliding door, very neat
Great job Jonathan... a star in the making 🌟
Take care when buying beds with no mattress. If the frame is not a standard size, made to measure mattresses can be expensive.
Dear Terry , please snatch up the three beautiful large things the long console the incredible carved cupboard and the display cabinet ! They can be used for all kinds of storage pantry linens etc. Til you get moved in with proper kitchens and so forth and then they are there for people to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship for generations.
