The MISSING Wood Panelling for the GRAND Salon at the CHATEAU.
Bonjour à tous, in this episode the family make a amazing discovery hidden away in one of the outbuildings. Long has been the discussion that the grand salon was once fitted out with beautiful wood panelling, more elegant and ornate than the tower panelling. The family have heard stories that one owner struggled with bills and sold trees and possibly the panelling to cover the costs, could these hidden panels be what was left? To find the panels the family first have to remove so much junk to get to them.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

Not long before Jonathan is operating all the heavy equipment and power tools by himself. You go, kid!
When it got to the end when you all gather together, I thought “I miss Tony.” Hope we get to see him again soon and that everything is okay. 💕
So sad, the tale of the former owner fallen on hard times, and having to sell off the beautiful oak panelling, trees, land, and what-have-you, in order to pay the taxes.
It is so sad 😢❤️
That is pretty sad, I doubt the owner really wanted to do any of that.
It's called Life!!😢
Tackling those dumping grounds is so hard yet so satisfying once it’s done. What a great work, with the bonus of discovering pieces from the chateau that will come handy in the restoration is just the cherry on top. Thank you for sharing your process, it’s great seeing you all work so harmoniously together. 💪
Thank you ☺️
Good job , but where is Tony ? I hope he is well .
I say this after watching every vlog, you are wonderful people and a joy to know, even from a distance one can't help but feel like we're one of the family! Thank you for this!
Thank you so much 🥰
I love when Tracy hugs Jonathan. She’s a good grandma and he’s a lucky boy to have such a loving family. The workshop looks great. And you found those beautiful panels. I know one day you will try to replicate them, but for now they are remnants of the chateaus past. xx
Thank you so much ☺️
Funny, when you 1st opened the door to the workroom, I thought, " Oh my, this is really untidy. I can't believe Terry tolerates that. "😅 Your reputation is out there. Well done all!!
It was a absolute nightmare 😳😂❤️
I totally agree with Stewart Moore...Escape to the dream, Restoring the Chateau is the BEST Vlog. You guys are an awesome family!!
I love seeing the evolution of not just the chateau and the grounds but also the growth of Terry's awesome video and editing skills. Love those overhead drone shots of the French countryside, narrowing the focus down to your little corner of paradise! Also amused by watching the slow dissolution of Terry and Ash's work clothes, from a couple of paint dabs in the early days to full-on story pants with multiple colours and splashes of plaster. Lol.
This Family works so well together. 🌸
Thank you ☺️
Not commented for a while ... but as usual another fab vlog. Where is Tony? not seen him in many videos, do hope he's well.
What a lovely family you are. This series is so watchable and enjoyable. Always excited to see what's next.
Thank you ☺️
It's always so good to find treasures when clearing a space:)
It was amazing 😍😍
Clearing, cleaning and organizing always does a soul good.
It does. Thanks Susanne :)
As ' Of France and England' channel always says " The barn shall yeild". It is amazing what you find in a clear out. Jonathan on the Tractor did so well !!
Haha. He loves the tractor 😊 thanks Moira 😊
What a find the little shutters, so cute. You all work so hard. Great tidying up.
🥰🥰
I'd never noticed just how much sag there is in the garage ceiling beams. I hope they last a good few years for you. I do love a good purge!
Hopefully it will be fine for a while yet 🥰
Great job team. These type of "almost spring" cleaning job are very satisfying. I am so happy to see Jonathan especially wearing his minecraft sweater😄🤩❤❤❤
He loves it 😊😊 how is everyone xx
Thank you, it’s a job well done. Yes Jonathan loves Minecraft 🥰🥰
Gosh, that garage looks fabulous! So much space after you did the clearing out and organized it all.
It is far better 🥰
That beautiful paneling was made by the hands of a master carpenter!
Where is Tony? As always, great video!
“Just dump it and run” Sounds like one of my rooms! I know where things are, mostly, but it really needs sorting out. Unknown. What a task. Good luck with yours!
😂
Thank you ☺️
I completely agree. The has been the best DIY. I had a big proud smile. Johnathan has grown again and did awesome driving the tractor and helping to carry the shelves. That paneling is a great find. I think you're all right. That it came from the salon. Every time you mention that lady, I think of her and her cats in the wet cold salon. Poor thing. I really feel for her. HAPPY MARCH ALL. MORE FLOWERS TO SEE SOON. My daffodils got snowed on again this year.
Thank you so much 🥰
The ocd in me loved this. I especially liked when you swept the floor and the beautiful brick floor was exposed. The woodworker in me loved the little detail in the paneling on the right. Might just have to make some:)
Jonathan insisted that he wants his own work bench. 😂- love
😂🥰🥰
I imagine much further down the line you could consider making some of that panelling. With the right kit and your various skills, it's possible.
It would be amazing to recreate it 😍
Hello from Canada iam so impressed with Johnathan he is a great boy. Driving the tractor and carrying the shelves 🎉 you must be so proud.keep up the good work young man.
Thank you, we are so proud of jonathan 🥰🥰
It's always lovely to get a space cleared out! The reward is finding materials you will need later!
Thank you 🥰🥰
Great job on the garage!! That was a huge job! That will make all your work so much easier! Well done!
Thank you ☺️
🌟🌟 Great job- I love organizing. And I love the paneling you found. Say hello to Tony. We all missed him. 😘😘😘😘😘
Thank you so much 🙏🥰
Fabulous job, helping yourselves become more efficient. Can't wait to see the little dormer in the peak of the tower finished, such a pretty window. Really enjoy your videos.
Thank you ☺️
I hope you find a photo of the salon when it was paneled. These have such elegant carvings.
We would love one of the inside 😍😍
I believe the lost grand salon panelling of which you found a few remnants in your now wonderfully clean barn, was probably 18th century (Louis XV), whereas the panelling which is still in place in other rooms of the château is from later date, I would think 19th century. Would you tend to agree ? Many good wishes to all of you and congratulations on the fantastic work 😊
Nice finds in the outside 'dark room'. I especially love the two doors with the spade motif cut-out. Great clean up! You can always find things that others have hidden when you clean out a large room like that. P.S. Love to see more of the Chateau peacocks! 👍👍👍
🥰🥰
That shed has neat looking beams . Great tidy work shop .
Thank you ☺️
Oh, Tracy you are so funny. dump and run! Keep up the good work!
Good job. Nice to see all of you looking so well, and Jonathan in the mix. Missed seeing Tony. Thanks for the post.
Thank you ☺️
29 mins! Ugh. I hate waiting... 😉
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿CRACK ON 💪💪 Treat yourself to some stealth mounts for your tools and batteries 💯👍🏿❤️❤️❤️get a FELDER spindle moulder and start a wood panel production line
Thank you ☺️
The amazing contingent of château renovator’s is so good. All the wonderful buildings have very different owners all working to preserve fabulous old buildings. It does not get better.
Thank you ☺️
Beautiful video. Is Tony okay?
The two unusual shutters with the spade pattern appear ? to represent one of the 4 symbols (Clubs, Hearts, Spades, Diamonds) which is supposed to represent wind, fire, water and earth. The top row of windows on the chateau also seems to have one of these "cut out" symbols (Clubs)across the very top edge of each window. Check it out. Perhaps the others (Diamonds and Hearts) can be found elsewhere in other places at your lovely chateau. Interesting...
Thank you very much, wile will definitely have a look around 😍😍
I have tool shed and garage ocd! Husband knows, put it back where you found it, or all hell breaks loose . So nice when you need something you know exactly where it is 😊🐨🥰
It is a job well worth doing 🥰🥰
well done team!!! Terry i noticed a bag of black tiles, perhaps use as a backsplash of sort in third floor kitchen ??? Jonathen is going to pass you all up in a blink wow has he grown. Always great seeing Jonathen in the videos thank you
I love the idea of using cut out pieces of pipe to hang tools! I'm stealing that for our tool shed! Looks amazing, well done everyone on the reorganization. Terry I'd think that the circular detail would be something you could replicate fairly cheaply for your wood paneling in the grand salon. I'm sure you could come up with a pattern that uses it around the room which would pay homage to the remnants you've found. Have fun coming up with ideas, as I know you will!
It’s a great way to hold the tools 🥰🥰
Love all you guys are doing on this channel. ❤
Thank you ☺️
Well great…guess I better go clean out that junk drawer I’ve been putting off the last few days after watching this. Thanks guys! 🙄😂❤️🇨🇦
😂😂🥰🥰🥰
If you can't afford to replace the panelling in the Grand Salon, maybe it would be possible to have an artist trompe l'oeil the fancy panel designs onto plastered walls. It would be an homage to the extra-special panelling you believe was there originally. You could then also utilize the few pieces you've found in the room to demonstrate what was actually there. Amazing find! So worth the drudgery of cleaning out the workshop to find those treasures!!!
Lovely video! So sweet to see Jonathon and Ash on the tractor together. Best wishes
Thank you ☺️
What a great job you have done there! Like all these sort of jobs where you have that one place you 'dump' everything then think, lets get it cleared up. I bet you feel like a hugh weight has been lifted off your shoulders now. A place for everything and everything in its place. 👏
Thank you 😊
Thanks again lovely family! What a job tidying out the barn/workshop. Made me chuckle that Johnathan wants his work bench near the door! Smart lad! Where does Johnathan fit into the family? Is he a grandchild? He such a nice boy.
Nice to see Jonathan driving the tractor 😊
He loves it 🥰
Excellent job by you all and clearing out and re-organizing that garage. It will make all future projects much easier to accomplish.
Thank you ☺️
I can't wait to see when the work starts on the grand salon.
That will be amazing 😍😍😍
Wow the workshop garage looks amazing!!!! 🎉🎉
Thank you ☺️
So very exciting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sending lots of hugs to the little lord🐾🐾. Can you do a vlog of the animals around the chateau? You’ve got 3 dogs, 1 cat?, 2 peacocks. I think it would be fun to see. Teamwork makes the dream work!
I would love that too. Did the 2nd Peacock ever come back?
A day for treasure. :)
It really was 🥰
Nice clean up and making wonderful, mysterious finds! Really good!
Thank you ☺️
I’m in awe of you all! Such a talented Beautiful family!! God Bless you all Lots of hugs❤
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
Where is Tony?😊
I would put the panelling together and make a door of them.🥰 For a pantry or a closet. Or maybe a bar-area in the grand salon? 😊
Thank you for the great idea 🥰
Wow!! wow. Absolute organized Bliss; makes me grin to think of your joy each time you need a tool, etc. Great Job!!!!! You're all amazing.
Thank you 🥰🥰
@@chateaudelalacelle 😊 We just had ten million feet of snow (Flagstaff, AZ). I keep hoping that the U.S. can take all/most of the bad winter weather so Europe can keep saving fuel. Stay cozy and warm. Spring will be so exciting with your treelets and bulbs. oooooooh. 🙂
It's very French having those 19th century shutters with "l'As de Pique" !
😍😍
Those panels are lovely. I would tidy them up and put them on the wall and make a feature of them in the room you are now renovating. Love your channel guys. Keep up the good work.
Thank you ☺️
Feels so good to get things organized!
Good job organizing the garage, everyone. It looks great❣️
Thank you ☺️
My Favorites: The FOUND Shutters and The hanging chains for the chainsaws on the wall... so organized. When I cleaned out my barn last autumn I found 17 hammers.. half of them rusty. CONGRATULATIONS!
Thank you so so much 🥰🥰
Great video miss Tony is he Ok?
Some good wood , a awesome router, tools you can make you're own panels.. it's sad things got sold off ... definitely need to incorporate those pieces back in the Chateau , even if it's clean , trimmed up and framed .. nothing like a good clean ..
I think it would definitely be good to reuse somewhere 😍😍
What a big job well done guys. Looks so well organized.😊
Thank you ☺️
Such a terrific clean out job! That is a great space!
Thanks Dodi :)
Thank you ☺️
Hello my dear chateau hoppers. ☺♥️
🥰🥰
A job well done, its much easier to work when tools are in there right place. Come to think if it its much easier to work in any room such as Kitchen, Craft etc when its tidy and thing are put away properly. That wood paneling is beautiful. Keep up the great work everyone, good to see Jonathan doing so well. 💕🇦🇺
Absolutely. Thanks Liz 😊
Love these little exploring ventures team delalacelle
Thank you ☺️
I've just discovered this blog and you all put me to shame. Thanks to watching you all, I've rebuilt my retaining wall and planted more wild flowers. This is so satisfying to watch but I will admit that you all are so interesting. Is there someplace that I can go to find out how you all have learned so many interesting things. I mean, really, flooring, electrical, stone masonry, plumbing, upholstery, refinishing and so many, many more. This family is just a marvel.
Thank you so so much and welcome to our journey 🙏🥰🥰🥰
Ooh I love a good clear out and discovery things
It was a great day 🥰🥰
The decorative wood panels would be beautiful all cleaned up and set in a display frame with a sign giving the information that you believe happened. You should find a space in the chateau to display all of the unique pieces you have found, like a mini-museum.
That would be amazing 😍😍
Hi every, There’s nothing better, than decluttering a working area! Just loved Jonathan’s little face ,while driving the tractor with Ash ,those moments are precious 🥰 How exciting, finding the lovely pieces of wood paneling! I wonder where the rest of the paneling went ? Take care lots of love 🥰
Thank you so much, yea Jonathan loved driving the tractor 🥰🥰
Love a good clean out! Nothing like getting organized before starting a big project. It’s worth a day or two of work ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you ☺️
@@chateaudelalacelle You are off to an organized start! I know how good it feels! Tidy up once a week and you life will be so much better! Congratulations 🎊🎉
It must be exciting to find those hidden treasures. Terry Carol said you can have the carpet back and bring your check book she doesnt like it in her salon
Thank you, yes we will have it for Lalacelle, it will be beautiful for one of the rooms 😍😍
It would be nice if someone would come along that has photos of the inside rooms so you know what they originally looked like @@chateaudelalacelle
Ah, always another project. Nice job on this one.
Well done guys, a job well done. Love as always from County Durham xxx
My first thought on the panel was maybe it was part of a wardrobe. But it seems like you figured it out. It will be lovely when all is finished. You have accomplished so much is such a short time. Keep up the great work!
Thank you 🥰🥰
Haven't seen Tony for a while. Is he okay??
I was going to ask the same thing.
I’m on my way over with my label maker; those shelves are screaming for labels 🤣
😂 I know I desperately need one 😂😂🥰🥰
One of those hideous jobs that no-one ever wants to start, let alone complete, but which makes an enormous difference. Looks like you could do with investing in new wheels / tyres for your trolley though 😉🥰
Thank you very much, it was a job well worth doing 🥰
wow, looks like a proper workshop now! looks great!
Great job on the purge and reorganization. Thrilling to discover new "old" bits of the chateau, right? 😊 You all look prepped and ready to continue your "can-do" restoration. Looking forward to watching the transformation. Cheers!
Thank you so much 🥰
So organized now. And you found treasures!!! Bonus
Thank you ☺️
The panel was a recess for a doorway or window.
A very good possibility and making, having made the rest of them might be affordable if so. Ask Amaury at Lalande about how to go about that.
That’s what we where thinking 🥰🥰
Well! There ya go! You'll are ready for work!! Inspiring!
All sorted now 🥰🥰
Jonathan has grown so much I thought he was Terry riding on the tractor with Ash.. lol😮
He is growing up well 🥰🥰
😂😂😂
Oh Keep Them ,Terry Will Find a Place To Use Them 👌👍❤️❤️❤️
We will definitely find a space for them 🥰
Great vlog. The work room looks terrific. Miss seeing Tony, hope he is ok.
I'm picturing a throne chair with that unique panelling...for the chateau king! 😁
Wow yes 🥰🥰
That floor in the garage is very nice. 😮
It is great 😮😮😍😍
WOW! Amazing transformation even if it is a tool shed. I know that felt good. I have to do that in my garage. When things are organized and have a place…it’s sooo much easier to use and put back. Great job….well done! 👍🏻🙏
It is so much better now we can find things 😍😍
Wow! I love to tidy things up. Organization is the best!
Thank you ☺️
Great job as always! 😊
Thank you ☺️
It is great that you have all the outbuildings to store things. Well done all. Loved to see Jonathon on the tractor...what a great life that young man has. Where was Patrick when all the work was on?
Thank you so much, Patrick was digging somewhere 😂☺️
great video. very satisfying clean up and that panelling is absolutely gorgeous
Thank you ☺️
