Well Tony, I'm sure most of us watching your build are experienced modelers, but to say this build is a impressive undertaking is an understatement. I thought the price was the biggest challenge, but seeing your work shop and the room you have, I now know, that is the largest hurdle to clear. Great job. Keep it going. Steve
Hi Steve, thanks again for your positive comments, it means a lot..Yes, as well as having the budget for one of these, it's all about space...hope you continue to follow.
Great job as always. Only bummer was not seeing the actual rocker arm install bit. Looks like this is maybe somewhat easier than the Stug. With it you have to set the angle of the arm and then actually drill the retaining pin hole. At least one advantage with that is you can get to the retaining screws on both ends of the torsion bar.
Hi and thanks again for your support and positive comments. Cant remember why I didn't film that, but I do cover part of the assembly on Video 2. It was however very straight forward. The next video covers the idler arm install, hope this helps.
Just a correction to my comment now that I’ve started actually doing it. On the Stug, you do have to drill for the retaining pin but the arm angle is still determined by the torsion twist. So same basic process and issue with the grub screws being rotated out of convenient access position. So I suspect Tony’s process applies to all the tank kits with torsion bars.
Well done, very clear and helpful explanation of a tricky and crucial part of the kit.
Thanks for watching and your kind comment...yes..very crucial part of the build and pleased that you found it helpful...please keep tuned for more.
Hey Bro the best Tankman Working in Perfektion😊

Hi Tony. I’m at roughly the same stage as you in my Tiger 2 LV build. Good to see a UK based blog on here. Chris.
Thanks Chris. I wanted the Tiger II but when I eventually worked up the courage to order, I was miles late....But loving the experience with my Tiger 1...Hope your build continues well and thanks again for watching...my next Video is up soon..
Hi Tony. Like yourself this is my first build and there has been moments of trepidation and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to take stuff apart to accommodate new bits! Mine is a Tiger 1 not 2 as I said above. Fat finger syndrome!!
Hi Chris, so you are on the same model...have any of my videos helped? I hope so...next video is the Sprocket & Idler Wheel assembly and install...I will be uploading this on Saturday. Like you, I had a lot of head scratching and irritations with collating all the fixings for each stage, looking for those small parts and interpretation of the instructions, but overall loving the entire experience and just wanted to record the journey from a UK novice perspective rather than an advanced builder with focus on after market detailing etc...I hope that some of my upcoming videos help you...Thanks again for watching.
@@tonys_workshop . I’ve only discovered you recently but I fully intend to keep up with your uploads. I’ve just spent today building and painting the drive sprockets and idlers so we’re pretty much at the same stage. Did you get all the option packs as well?
@@chrisblackler3338 Wow so as far as my video uploads are concerned, we are perfectly aligned then...I have to admit, thought the install of the Sprocket was going to be difficult as the only videos I could find placed it in the category of the dark arts or science fiction, but it was dead easy by just following the instructions...I found more challenging things along the way. Yes, gone for all the option packs...A lot of money, but why build this without bringing it to life...I completed my Tank in September and only just started uploading the video content in December..Had to wait for my editing team AKA ..my son...to work on them, so if you do find anything going forward tricky, please let me know and I would gladly try and help...Thanks again for watching and your support, it means a great deal.

А также в моем. Надеюсь, вы продолжите смотреть и следить за моим прогрессом.
I use the same paint as you do for my 1/16 German tanks.
Hi Mik, yes its a good quality paint.
A big advantage I see with these newer kits are the one piece torsion blocks, torsion bars with flats filed and the 2 hull cross pieces to support the top hull. All things the earlier kits lack. Looks like you have a great area to build with proper tools. A major advantage. Great progress on the kit.
Hi Chris, thanks for your comment...Yes, from what I understand they have improved these kits significantly. They have also simplified the drive case unit and other parts which I do cover over the next few videos and yes, I am very fortunate to have a clear workshop and tools built up over many years...cant see how these can be built without the right space and tools.
Rest assured Sir Tony I am enjoying your videos. You can see photos of the Henschel und Sohn factory where the workers chalk numbers on the hull like you have. Can't say I've heard of the paint I use tamiya ,is it good for plastic ? When you see torsion bar suspension hold up 57 kg you can see why it breaks easily . Is the battery not standard issue ?
Thanks Steve, The tank requires two 12V batteries...same or similar to golf trollies. Armortek recommend the YUASA REC22-12 battery. Wired in series to provide the 24V required. Hope this helps.
Hi tony great video as always. Building the trumpeter titanic 1/200 scale at the moment but I know these armour tex kits are not cheap but so tempted to get one next ,they are amazing.
Hi Steven, thanks again for your continued support and kind comment...I think you have a lot more detailing to deal with on something like the titanic...what size does this end up being? will it fit on your sideboard or are you having to move house :-)
@@tonys_workshop it's only 4 feet long but very detailed and weighs a lot less than your tiger .
Hi Tony, excellent build 👏 In your opinion, what metal are the torsion bars made of? Assume they aren't mild steel or sprung. Apologies late to the party.. Cheers
Hi Paul and welcome to my channel. Thank you for your kind words. The torsion bars are made from spring steel rods. Super strong and have just the right amount of elasticity to perform similar to the full size tanks. Hope you continue to watch this series and my other builds. Thanks also for commenting and I hope this answers your question.
@tonys_workshop spot on thank you.
Superb Tony you've done a cracking job on the suspension and very nice paint finish I've just Bought 6 cans of the ral paint. Out of curiosity how many did you use during painting? Looking forward to the next installment.
Hi Gary, thanks for your comment. I originally bought 8 cans, but used 4 of these just building up the paint layers on the wheels and lower hull. So I went ahead on bought another two as I did not want to run out when I most needed. I would recommend 8 and if you have some left over, then at least you have spare in case of touching up etc. Hope this helps.
How are the road wheels actually secured to the axles.😊
Hi John, yes, I sort of brushed over that bit, but it was the easy part of the whole wheel fitting process. The wheels are secured with M4 10mm C/S bolts fixed through a securing washer. All accessed when the small hub caps are removed. Hope this answers your question and hope also you continue to follow the build.
Does armor tect offer the batteries for the kit as well as the remote control?
Hi David, No, Armortek do not supply the batteries or the radio gear, but they will recommend the best option based on the model you choose to go for. The radio gear and batteries are widely available on the internet. Hope this helps...Best regards...Tony
Did you not use any lock tight on the torson bars?
Hi David, thanks for watching...Yes I did use thread-locker on all the bolt threaded parts...Edited out, but yes, it is so important to do so. The torsion bars themselves sit tight within their housing and secured with the threaded grub screws with no need to use adhesive as they are partially flat on one edge so to allow the grub screws to lock them into position without turning....Armortek are quite clear on when and when not to use adhesives. Hope this helps and thanks again for watching...Please keep tuned for next instalment.
По моим познаниям тигру доставалось в России когда осень распутье грязь замерзала между колёс для экипажа это было головной болью
Да, это я тоже понимаю.
Wish I had the cash to make one of these its impressive
Hi and thank you for continuing to watch and support. Yes, these are expensive and it took me many years to be in a position to buy one. I have been looking at these kits for over 12 years before I took the leap of faith to buy one. I hope that you do manage somehow and some day in the future to buy one as you will not regret it. Thanks again for commenting and watching, it means a great deal.
