Flying like Iron Man: Up Close with Richard Browning's Gravity Jet Suit!

2024 ж. 3 Мам.
2 552 499 Рет қаралды

Richard Browning is a British inventor and founder of Gravity Industries. He and his team have built multiple, fully functional jet suits. The Iron Man suit is as close to reality as its ever been, and I got to try one for myself. The suit is comprised of five jet engines, two on each arm, and one of the rear, and you fly by bringing the jets up to full power for your body weight and vectoring your arms downward. It's incredible to see the progression of Gravity in just three short years.

What’s the vision for defense contracts? - What’s the range of a suit with a given weighted payload? - How much does it cost to make 10 suits? - What kind of fuel does it use and what are the chances of it exploding mid flight? - Who is the main competitor in the market and what are they doing? - Who’s funding the company and why?

  • Thank you, Sam. I've recently seen the Gravity video showing up in my feed, so I finally watched it. Checked out the website, saw a lot of clothes. So, I thought this whole thing was a gimmick to sell clothes. Of course, I've seen the Jet Suit wing, but that's airborne launched, needs a parachute, etc. To watch this, I didn't think it was real, just some really good CGI. So, I want to thank you for sitting down with Richard and explaining the whole system. The biggest part, of course, is the jet engine on the back, which I hadn't understood before, didn't know it was there. I thought the whole thing flew from the four engines on your arms. I had no clue as to how that could have supported you. But, in laying all of this out, showing us your own experience flying it, and giving us the insight into the control of the system, I understand how it works. Obviously, Richard is one of those few people who can creatively think far outside of the box, and he has So, I thank you for pulling back the curtain, as it were, to show us the details on this tech.

It might be effective at flat angles but does it become dangerous during 90 degree stabilization due to drag or would it merely be a matter of pilot adjustment for the abrupt breaking? I like doing these balancing physics puzzles in video games but these guys are hard core.
