      @NipapornP@NipapornP3 жыл бұрын
    • @@NipapornP 30? Let's see. The Jetsons cartoon premiered on in 1962, so that is 58 years ago and earlier than that, "Rocket Man" the serial was shown in Theaters before the main attraction began, starting in 1949 so that was 71 years ago that we thought that someday we would all be flying around with our own Jet packs.

      @solepropt@solepropt3 жыл бұрын
    • It's a joke is what it is, not flying vehicles just oversized multirotor's that will never make it into the market as an actual choice for transportation. I build AG multirotor's with twice the capacity of these and I even know it will go nowhere. Not until battery technology catches up 50+ years or so and they get rid of inefficient propellers. Still won't happen, unfortunately, we hit a major plateau that may last 100 years or more, beyond our lifetime before we see personal flying cars or jetpacks with any practical use other than hovering in your front yard. These are all amateurs with no real engineering skills that came from civilian RC hobbyist dreaming way too big, Don't compare them to Boston dynamics it's a disgrace to compare these to them. Bostom dynamics knows wtf they are doing and won't even attempt to build a flying car or jetpack because they're not stupid, and won't waste money on something they know will not work.

    @Brad772006@Brad7720065 жыл бұрын
    • Lord Motorsports they aren't at all the same. Fly board and the jetpack like it require a masive motor that follows it behind in the water not very practical if you want to fly over anything but water at 50 feet or so. But if you just want to have the sensation of flying for fun not for a practical use it would check off any of the boxes.

The landings were really tough on the shocks and the flight times weren't very long. Maybe two or three seconds depending on the shape of the hill.

    • I think you mean "Little Nellie", a gyrocopter/autogyro. I like them too.

      @henkeH2@henkeH25 жыл бұрын
    • A gyrocopter in this context could offer some real benefits over the drone and tilt rotor concepts. STOL/VTOL capability of the gyrocopter could be improved if the rotor were initially driven as per a helicopter but entering passive gyrocopter mode once forward motion is achieved. With folding blades as per little Nellie the gyrocopter offers a very compact package when on the ground. Redundancy of multiple motors and the ability to autorotate would make the gyrocopter a particularly safe vehicle in the event of motor or power failure.

    • Autogyros are very cool flying machines. Only the rear prop is actually powered. As the top prop autorotates, it acts like a wing, generating lift. Supposedly they can be landed even if the engine quits.

      @tao4409@tao44095 жыл бұрын
    • Not supposedly, they can land when the engine fails, unlike all these drone like machines. The props are to small to auto rotate. So unless a ballistic parachute is fitted, I would not fly one. And to call the flyer, a flying car would be like calling any helicopter a flying car. Without wheels and the ability to drive on the streets, it is not a flying car. JD

"I'll stay here a mind the car" "Cool I'll be back in 15mins" "Then I can go for a ride" "Well no, it takes 12hrs to recharge the batteries" "SHIT!"

  • 1:26, "oh my goodness, I mean it's just so incredible to see what these eenorrrmous flying bits of metal can do!!!!" LOL, no not really when you realise that they are not loaded up with fuel, passengers, baggage, cargo, meals, drinks and are being flown barely above Operational Empty Weight, of course they are going to be able throw them around the sky like fighter jets, even the Boeing Dash 80 (B-707) flown by Tex Johnson did two Barrel Rolls when first shown to the public back in 1955.

    • well, just because they arent made to do that doesnt mean they cant at all... theyd never be strong enough to fly to begin with if that kind of thing werent at least possible.

  • "Is to go from your house to the shop", he says. Well, after getting electrocuted with the power lines, say I make it to the shop. Then, where would I leave the flying machine? In the parking lot? Then, where will the 5 or 6 bags of groceries be placed when I fly back home? What do I tell my neighbours? "I'm sorry about the deafening sound" ? As well, why would I spend so much on oil for just a one sitter? It seems to me this is years and years away from actual effective use.

  • This is all very exciting, this as well as the rest of the technology that is developing today. And at the same time it's also very scary. If the wrong people come into power in the future they will have the capability of having total control over our every move, people will be completely defenseless

    • No it isn't because you can't fly it in a populated area. FAA approval is for flying only in the boonies. It would be a toy to tow outside town (on a trailer) and play.
