Enjoy a long dozen of the best personal ultralight aircafts, that are easy to fly and don't require a license. All of the vehicles in this selection are VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) capable, and some of them are amphibious, even landing and taking off from the water.
Single-seater flying vehicles are divided into 4 categories of 3 machines each.
I. Best 3 of the best.
II. EVTOL multicopters with a suspended load. Steady and safe aircrafts, but slow and bulky.
III. These are compact multicopters with a load at the level of the propellers.
IV. Category 4 is hoverbikes. Here is a privat turbojet Speeder, fully electric Scorpion and a hybrid Xturismo.
And lastly, a strange EVTOL with a tilting body.

  • I do really like the Jetson 1. For one you get longer flight out of it and for safety reasons it's not so closed in. It looks like it would be easier to get in and out of but then again the black fly will be reachable for the not so rich and its amphibious and also being closed in during them cold months will really be helpful. You know what I mean for the ones that ride motorcycles like me. That tilt straight up before flight don't sit well though.

  • So far, I like the Jetson 1. I think it has lots of room for improvement/advancements. The Blackfly, I'm afraid looks just too weird and intimidating for most people to consider purchasing, but we'll see. And...yes as many others here have observed, the Jetson 1 looks the least intimidating and most "conventional" of the offerings. The jet powered flying chair looks pretty cool, though. • 😎😎😎😎😎😎There is an interesting design of aircraft, but they rarely talk about it, because this thing is secret. The topic of pulsed plasma thrusters has been developed since the early 60s (see PPT - Pulsed plasma thruster) - they are usually designed for spacecraft. But we will talk about a little-known design - these are plasma propulsion panels for aircraft, where the same Pulsed plasma thruster, but reduced to the size of a pencil and stacked in the form of cells in the panel. The design resembles a conventional plasma TV screen, where there are also discharge cells that activate the glow of pixels on the screen. And plasma propulsion panels have long discharge cells, the arrester has a railgun architecture (just rail contacts or coaxial), and the ionized discharge air is accelerated there by the Lorentz force to enormous speeds - a kind of ramjet engine is obtained. Just imagine! - tens of thousands of small ramjet engines assembled in a panel and firing plasma synchronously with a huge frequency (hundreds of kilohertz). Thus, plasma propulsion panels create lift by pulsed emission of plasma jets from railgun cells. There are tens of thousands of cells in the panel, they shoot at a frequency of hundreds of kilohertz, a huge pulse is obtained, and the plasma swirls the air into toroidal rings - the aircraft is held on this air cushion. Horizontal acceleration is created by the same plasma panels on the sides of the device (they glow, from the side they look like "portholes"). Such devices like "triangle" or "disk" have been observed for a long time, they are mistaken for alien ones - but these are terrestrial devices. They are classified and used for espionage and secret actions. Pulsed electromagnetic technology generates microwave radiation, therefore it is harmful to health. They rarely fly - only military missions. Therefore, they are not suitable for a citizen. This maintained the secrecy. Now they are already declassifying - many people know about this secret technique. When declassified, they will be used for cargo airships. But there is a danger that they are now going to be adapted to deliver small nuclear charges to decision-making centers - such means of delivery are not specified anywhere, are not conventional. This lowers the threshold for starting a war. It would be necessary to declassify them as soon as possible. That's why I'm writing about it. However, I have written before - starting with the book "The Elimination of UFOs" and many articles. There are also videos on my KZhead channel - "Declassified UFO" and "UFO Anatomy". 😈😈😈😈😈😈😈😈

  • Perhaps in Ukraine these vehicles would not require a license to pilot, but in the US, it won’t happen. Casual fans in the US may be under the illusion that because an electric quadcopter made big enough to carry a pilot and light enough to weigh under 254 lbs, therefore can be flown by anyone. False. The “no pilot license required” aircraft class is named “ultralight”, but it’s far from the only or only important criteria that defines it-and that is crucial. An “ultralight aircraft” must ALSO be capable of *with the power off* to still have controllable glide over 24 knots. A quadcopter has zero glide at any speed when the power is off. They have no kind of lift from the body or wings (like a plane) or still-spinning propellers (like a gyrocopter). Emergency parachutes don’t count. There is also the gray area of electric propulsion in any form of ultralight. It specifically says in the rules, that if these criteria cannot be met, then the general aviation rules now apply for both the inspection of the aircraft and the licensing requirements for the pilot.

      @TopBoxy@TopBoxy Жыл бұрын
    • @@TopBoxy you bring up a good point and I’m always keeping that idea in my head on standby because we have seen that the changing landscape of the industry has historically changed and even driven the regs. For example, the entire FAR 103 Ultralight was itself created after folks in the 70’s were building and flying tiny, relatively slow fixed wing aircraft. It only makes sense that something similar bubbles to the surface eventually as small personal drone-inspired manned aircraft start hitting the scene and the FAA has to create a ruleset to fit them into. But the internet being the lazy internet, people see a polished promotion for one of these things and assume because it looks official, that everything including the regs to allow them to fly in the airspace is already in place. What would the internet be without overhype, instant gratification over substance and glossing over boring things such as reality.

Every MANNED aircraft, from a hot air balloon to a paramotor to a Cessna 172 to a Boeing 737 has regulations covering what they are, who is qualified to pilot them, when and where they may operate.. Toy is definitely not a manned aircraft category in the US. I was going to order batteries, engines and props, but realized I would be blindly ordering engines and batteries without knowing how much lift it produces. • You say "don't require a license," but that's untrue for most of these vehicles, if they'd be operated in the United States. Since that's where MOST of KZhead's audience is, that claim is basically fraudulent. If a vehicle doesn't meet FAA Title 14, Part 103 regulations (ultralight aircraft), you DO need an airworthiness certificate for the aircraft and a pilot's license for the operator.

Could be a useful tool in many places around the world if given a chance bringing aid post even ferrying workers to and from hard to reach areas if they are cheap enough to buy and maintenance was relatively easy.

  • They're all garbage! Ludicrous, purposeless and laughably expensive. Flight times in single digits before having to return to one's point of departure. A two seat kit helicopter like the HeliSport CH-7 Kompress is a proven design which has been flown single Pilot from France to the USA and back! A real aircraft with an excellent pedigree, this helicopter is a genuine personal aircraft, which with the long range fuel tank has been hand flown for over 12 hours continuously. This is how it was able to fly from France to the USA, a duration only matched by massive passenger airliners! These pointless electric powered gimmicks keep appearing, but all have no practical purpose whatsoever, like the jet engine flight suits, pointless gimmicks with truly pathetic flight times and silly prices and ownership contracts. Edited for typo.

  • Credit: Joby Aviation After a long wait, the FAA has published its proposed airworthiness criteria for Joby Aviation’s JAS4-1, providing the first detailed look at the certification basis for an electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) powered-lift aircraft. Eagerly awaited by the wider industry, the proposed airworthiness criteria were published in the Federal Register on Nov. 8, four years after Joby applied for type certification of its piloted four-passenger tiltprop and six months after the FAA changed course on certifying eVTOL aircraft. Joby was first to sign a G-1 certification basis with the FAA, in May 2020, under Part 23 regulations for fixed-wing airplanes. But in May this year, the FAA decided instead to certify eVTOLs as a special class of powered-lift aircraft under Part 21.17(b). Joby signed a revised G-1 in July. Because the JAS4-1 was not certified within three years, as required, the FAA approved Joby’s request for an extension and the date of the updated certification basis is June 2022. Joby is targeting approval by the end of 2024, but that could slip into 2025, when it plans to begin commercial service. The certification basis is largely based on Part 23 with Part 33 for engines and Part 35 for propellers, but includes new performance-based criteria developed by the FAA, “because no existing standard captured the powered-lift [aircraft’s] transitional flight modes,” the notice says. The proposed criteria include definitions specific to a powered-lift aircraft, such as flight modes, configurations and speeds, as well as electric engine and related propeller airworthiness standards. In the event of a loss of power, airplanes can glide and rotorcraft autorotate to a safe landing, but not all powered-lift aircraft have these capabilities. For the JAS4-1, the FAA proposes a unique definition for continued safe flight and landing, and for controlled emergency landing, to ensure the vehicle has performance equivalent to a glide or autorotation. For vertical takeoff and landing, the proposed airworthiness criteria are drawn from Parts 27 and 29 for rotorcraft, with changes to allow for safe operation of the powered-lift aircraft below the stall speed of the wing. The FAA has also developed proposed criteria to address the eVTOL’s alternating sources of lift: thrust-borne, semi-thrust-borne and wing-borne. Joby’s tiltprop design uses distributed electric propulsion to provide lift, thrust and control, which requires new airworthiness criteria to address the integrated flight and propulsion control system. Proposed criteria for distributed propulsion also address multi-engine isolation, simplified control and energy-system crashworthiness. Revised powerplant control criteria combine engine and propeller control as well as nacelle rotation. Fire-protection criteria delete requirements specific to liquid fuels but address all powerplant-related fire threats. Additional structural design criteria are required to address the aerodynamic loads on an eVTOL that transitions between vertical and forward flight, the FAA says. And because the JAS4-1 is expected to spend less time in hover than a rotorcraft, and more in high-speed flight, bird-strike risk is increased. The JAS4-1 also will be quieter than a helicopter, giving birds less warning, so the FAA is proposing a more comprehensive bird-strike requirement for an aircraft-level evaluation against a 1-kg (2.2-lb.) bird impact. The regulator also proposes a requirement for bird-deterrence devices to reduce strikes. Among the special features of the Joby propulsion system noted in the proposed criteria include the electric engine, which comprises four motors: the drive motor plus motors for propeller pitch, engine tilt and the cooling system. The propeller needs new criteria because the electric blade-pitch actuation is more extensively integrated into the aircraft’s propulsion and flight- control system. The proposed airworthiness criteria do not call out any obvious changes to the safety levels in Part 23 but require the aircraft to be capable of continued safe flight and landing following failures, including loss of thrust, not shown to be extremely improbable. In Part 23 aircraft, “extremely improbable” typically equates to a probability of catastrophic failure of 10-7 or 10-8. The FAA notes the JAS4-1 is not a Level 4 commuter-category aircraft, which would require the same 10-9 safety level as commercial aircraft. European SC-VTOL rules for eVTOLs specifically require a 10-9 safety level for commercial passenger operations
