Whenever I see skull crawlers I always think of the demon chasing you in temple run
I think that’s what they were based on
@@AshMCMactually temple run came out after
@@orvisthompson6641literally not even close, nearly 7 years lmao
@@orvisthompson6641this was out in 2017 temple run was 2010
No it didnt temple run came out like over a decade ago@orvisthompson6641
King Kong: I mean, I'll do what I can, but he's a damn radioactive dinosaur!!
Sarah Halley Finn is the casting director for the MCU and monster verse so it makes sense!
Amazing work, Jessica and team. A few quick notes: 8:15 This is likely not tape in a tape recorder, but large magnetic tape reels, which were the main data storage medium for computers of the era (see 13:19-13:20) 9:17 Gamera is a competitor of Godzilla from a rival studio, so he will never appear in a Godzilla film. Just like a DC character would never appear in an MCU film. 22:30 Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyries" is the song playing in Apocalypse Now during the helicopter scene, so this is likely why they call it this. 33:25 "Death before Dishonor" - This is a common motto of the US Marine Corps. While there were WWII Marine pilots, Marlow has a patch for the Army Air Force. But he was surrounded by Marines.. 35:25 Kong collapses. This parallels Godzilla collapsing in the first film.
This movie doesn't get the recognition I feel it deserves
It does Just cause you think it doesn’t don’t make it so
@@marcelotapia3970 it definitely doesn't, this movie gets shit on constantly. The director had to go online to defend it because it got absolutely shit on. But go off King 🤡
Real!! I think it’s the best Monsterverse movie
I love this and Peter Jackson's King Kong so much for so many different reasons
If I never see the giant bug scene again I'll be okay with that!!!!🙂
I love how over a quarter of this video is devoted to the opening credits sequence lol.
Those "tapes in a tape recorder" weren't tapes in a tape recorder, they were spools in an ancient 1950s style computer The rocket launch was the Saturn 5 rocket from the Apollo missions to the moon In the southern hemisphere, it would be the Aurora Australis, not the Borealis
Nice
The footage of solders at 10:00 is not from ww2 its from the marines landing at da nang in vietnam in march 1965
Samuel L Jackson really was the villain in that movie. All those guys survived Vietnam and were about to go home but he didn’t want to
He believes his war is not over, he is solider born to fight.
He should have joined the hell divers
@@denisefrentz7208 haha
What Colonel Packard actually said about icarus was "Remember the story of icarus, gis father gave him wings made of wax, warned him not to fly too close to the sun, but the elevation was too great and he kept going higher and higher, until the sun melted his wings, and fell into the sea But tue United States army is not an irresponsible father, So they gave us wings of hot Pennsylvania steel, guaranteed not to melt"
CORRECTION ! 9:40 is clearly the first stage of the saturn 5 or possibly a saturn 5 1st stage being tested
9:40 the rocket launch shown here is the Apollo 11 launch (July 16th, 1969), roughly at T-4 seconds
The Japanese surrendered in August of 1945, not April of 1946, unless this is supposed to be an alternate reality where the atomic bomb never happened and the U.S. invaded the home islands.
I love creature films like these, so much fun and mayhem. Jessica, you are a Gem.
We need to break the news to Jessica that godzilla is not bisexual 😭😭😭
was just gonna say??? huh
What timestamp is it
@@wndt around 16:54
28:04 Kong’s hands are scratched up because he grabbed the tail of a helicopter
Am I losing my mind or isn’t it RANDA and not RONDA?
Love that the kid who threw the party in Project X is in this 😂
😭😭
Is that why his face is familiar?! Crazy
It's good to see the cast from Marvel in different films. Truly talented!
How come you’re not covering Shogun? It’s like ancient Japanese GOT with historical references and the 40+ year old original and book to compare it to. So much great content to talk about. No nerd love there?
Shogun please!
We need Kong....the world needs him
Talkin 12 mins for the movie intro is crazy
Could gone longer if they broke down the redacted words
Literally why we’re all here.
I see you with the Steve Brule deep cut
Kong fan has join the chat
I didn’t realize this movie had a lot of anime references probably why I liked it the movie so much. I really hope the Director gets a chance to direct an anime movie or series definitely has the eye for it
Loved the sometimes an enemy doesn’t exist until you go looking for one quote
Oh historic input by someone ignorant of history 🙄
This movie had so many actors that I knew and love.
8:16 not positive, but those look more like computer tape drives than tape recordings. The fact they are showing Sputnik right after showing the tape makes me think that. They would have used tape drives to store data or run programs from the computer’s of that time. They wouldn’t have used those to store video interviews. Unless it’s 35 millimeter.
Leave results to heaven is possibly a Nintendo, which means "leave luck to heaven"
Um... that is not a tape recorder. It's program tape from a mainframe computer.
I love your work Jess, but it's Randa, not Rhonda.
Those are definitely Polish flags on the helmets of the MP at @11:39, so I don't think it could be the Kent State shootings
9:40 that's the Saturn V it launched the Apollo missions
9:50 also that is the sputnik satellite, vanguard 1 had 6 antennae (I think?)
brie larsons camera is a leica m3 not ae1❤️🔥✨ not that that matters at all i’m just a camera nerd
So glad you're doing this. Will you do a vid for the Skull Island animated series, too?
Another easter egg when kong fights the skull crawler aplha we se part of the fight through the view of a handheld camera which was a direct homage to 2014
If im remembering correctly this director clapped back againt Cinema Sins and it was glorious
Yep tbh cinemasins are not that funny anymore. At first, it was fun but then they became so giant and litteraly is an entreprise so it doesn't work now 😂yep i said it, ''it was better before ''
@@davidthirugnanakumar7888 same when I stopped watching was their Age of Ultron video because most of their "sins" were cleared within the movie itself
Do we really have to spend 12 minutes on the opening credits?
No kidding. It moves too fast to follow, and the get a lot of stuff wrong anyway.
I completely agree
Exactly what I came here to say. 1/3 of the video.
My favorite monsterverse film gets better every viewing
Ders from Workaholics growing up into John Goodman makes me laugh 😂
Love the MonsterVerse !!!!
I just love the end where the tv announcer says "the impossible just became the possible" referring to the baseball game, but also could be referring to the fact that Monarch can now confirm their findings through the trip to Skull Island that they just survived through.
This was my absolute favorite Kong movie 😊
Would be cool to see a Tremors connection
I just have to say, Casey saying "what's a fish?!?!?" to Loki will never not make me laugh 😂
27:58 how is Kong eating the octopus/squid a reference to Old Boy?!?! They have nothing to do with each other.
aw yeah skull island
Love this movie
Wasn't blood just a red hand print. If I'm not mistaken kong put his hand on it
This is literally one of my comfort movies. :D
I don’t know why, but every time I see the skull island on this movie it looks like a grinning skull lifts a stoic mask over its forehead. I love the look since I first seen this movie.
This movie was amazing lowkey underrated, one of me and my dads guilty pleasure watches
Godzilla is the Naruto of Kaiju he just talk no jutsu his enemies or jumps them
RAN-duh.
Remember Ghidorah was frozen in ice in Godzilla King Of The Monsters , I think Ghidorah was fighting Shimu because he was frozen in ice
Love NR breakfowns
When I hear Death Before Dishonor I think of Ring Of Honor wrestling
People who studied history think of the Marine Corps.
The writing on the sword being "leave the results to heave" could also be "leave luck to heaven" a reference to Nintendo
Daddy kong
Easy E and Dr Dre are in this movie!
And kid who threw the party in Project X
Love from Belgium 🇧🇪 ❤
I love you Jessica!!!
Yeah I like to think of this movie as Marvel presents King Kong 😂😂
I was expecting to hear @36:14, "Boom, you lookin' for this?"
the best movie in the monsterverse so far and is not even close
Eugene Coredero will forwver be Pillboi from The Good Place to me, lol
GAM-ER-RA😅
Will Peter Jackson's King Kong get a review?
Im so glad someone noticed how many marvel characters are also in these movies in the first godzilla movie we have pedro and wanda (the original pedro) and i loooovvvveee ittt like imagine the universe travel for that and like imagine them meeting i would cry 😂😂😂 also ik im late but the lore is so good
Watching these movies at 1am hits diffrent
I literally just watched this movie last night lmao
Isn’t the hand that gets wrapped up with the skull devil’s acid innards the same hand that gets wrapped up in skar king’s bone whip? What does this universe have against kong’s right hand?
The way Lieutenant Dan went out😢
I'll tell you now, when Marlow reunites with his wife and son at the end of the movie, I cried
cool
This movie is very good and In my opinion, underrated.
Packard saw hand print on the cliffthought that was Kong. Some theorised, Skar King found the remain Kong’s exile at Skull Island and lead the army of Skull Crawlers and kill them all. Once he thought he won, he marked the cliff as a sign of victory.
Same marvel actors in this movie because Sarah Finn the casting director of marvel films was the casting director of this one too! 😊
Love Pokémon getting some love in other movies
Something I noticed is how the interaction with kong is a little reversed as Kong's first appearance is him being surrounded by aircraft.
I literally just watched Kong Tuesday
13 minutes on just the intro is CRAAAZY
The Aurora visible from skull island wouldn't be the Aurora Borealis. As the island is 'somewhere near indonesia' which is in the southern hemisphere it would either be the Aurora Australis or a local magnetic storm (more likely as the island is way too close to the equator for it to be a visible polar aurora)
9:06 that's actually the hinges on a snake's jaw that allows it to dislocate the hinges to swallow larger prey animals 9:13 looks like a regular turtle to everyone and Gamera is owned by a different company. He's the Marvel to Godzilla's DC.
another aspect you neglected in this movie is the actors who portray both as humans and kong die as humans in King Kong movies. The other being Andy Serkis as 2005's King Kong.
Not sure if it's relevant but Nintendo translates to "Leave luck to heaven" which is very similar to the translation they said on the sword of "leave the results to heaven"
This is the only one of those movies I’ve seen
Kong looked amazing in this movie.
While watching the cubs
Also Cubone
You can definitely see the confusion and sadness in his eyes when he’s looking up at the night sky prolly wonderin why these people are hurting him
The log creature is a large version of a Walking Stick.
The director really got all the marvel actors he might as well direct a marvel movie at this point but honestly kong skull island lowkey underrated it's so much fun
Is it just me, or does anyone else think "Skull Island" is named after a skull because of it's shape? It's got bays where the eyes would be as if the skull was looking toward the right from above.
24:38 Not hollow earth, it was Axis Mundi!
9:06 This could possibly be Tiamut instead of a skull crawler
how are you about to spend 13 minutes talking about a tiny credits montage in a vietnam movie full of giant apes and lizards and spiders and squids
the bloody handprint is now being said to belong to Skas king instead of kong. Plus who's to say that's either Kong's or SKar's blood?
How can not see cubone and there name is "skull" crawler 😂
