    • @@DeKostaLet’s say he comes back in a few years and loses a decision to GSP. Would it have been worth it? In my opinion, no, not even if it was his father’s dream. Now he might be the #1 role-model in all of sports. I hope I can teach my kids to have morals like him. No longtime fan of this sport can deny his greatness and it's so hard to accomplish that in MMA. Thank you very much, Eagle. You made us as fans, and of course your father, very proud.

      @gooniusmaximus94@gooniusmaximus943 жыл бұрын
  • To beat Khabib you need a guy with: 1. High anaerobic threshold. I think this is where most people mistake "good cardio" to be the answer. Cardio can mean many things. It can mean VO2 Max, Max Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, Heart Rate Recovery, or Anaerobic Threshold. Those last two are what matter the most for fighters, and Anaerobic Threshold in particular is what matters the most against guys like Khabib. What’s important to a fighter is not percentage of maximum heart rate or VO2 max, it’s whether they are at their Anaerobic Threshold, above it, or below it. That’s what determines the exhaustion effect and how quickly or slowly someone gasses out. Your Anaerobic Threshold is a heart beat range that represents the hardest you can work, without ever having to slow down. Going above this threshold will mean you’re on borrowed time before you’ll need to reduce the amount of power and effort you’re putting in. Spending a significant time above this threshold makes for a hard session. Working below this threshold means you are taking it relatively easy and you’ll not be stressing the body significantly. A good way to not only discover your Anaerobic Threshold heart rate, but also the amount of power you can currently produce, is to run as far as you possibly can in 12-minutes (a Cooper run), and measure your average heart rate over the whole test. That average heart rate will be your Anaerobic Threshold, and the distance you covered represents the amount of power you can currently produce at that threshold. Having trained for years in the mountains of Dagestan, Khabib appears to have a considerably higher Anaerobic Threshold than all his opponents and he knows how to use it to his advantage. His high pressure fighting style pushes his opponents way beyond their own Anaerobic Thresholds, quickly draining their gas tanks once they hit that mark even as Khabib himself continues to cruise within his higher Threshold. Once there, Khabib makes sure not to step off the gas so as to completely drain his opponents as quickly as possible, before he starts going in for submission attempts or heavy ground and pound. 2. Quick hands with a powerful lead jab and upper cuts. Straight down the pipe punches when Khabib tries to step into range, and low to high punches or knees when he ducks low will ensure much higher landing accuracy and damage than hooks or overhands which are much easier to spot and have a longer distance to travel in order to get to their target. 3. Teep kicks. Conor used this with a mild degree of success. But none of Khabib's other opponents have utilized teep kicks to keep him at distance. A teep, unlike lateral kicks or leg kicks exposes very little of the calf length of the leg which in turn gives a wrestler much less chance to grab it and turn it into a trip or a takedown. 4. Solid trunk strength and lower body strength + a High level of skill in takedown defence and sprawls. Yes, Khabib will still probably get the TD eventually but you want to make him work for it. You don't want to go down with the first attempt. Or even the fourth. And you want to do a LOT of deadlifts and kettlebell swings to build that core strength. It might not be enough to overpower him, but it sure as hell will make you better at dealing with his weight shifts and prolong the takedown process and reduce his efficacy. 5. Solid transitional defence on the ground. I am stunned by how quickly guys like Gaethje, Poirier, Conor let him progress on position once the TD is completed. Worse, they even end up giving their backs easily. If you're going to stand a chance against Khabib post-TD, you will have to be lightning quick with the adjustments. Go to full guard or rubber guard even if it means giving up escape routes or taking some strike damage. Don't let him cinch up the legs. Lock him into guard and pull his torso in instead of avoiding it, close the distance, lose the round but make him work for every inch of transition. If you're in a hurry to get out of his grip, he's gonna drown you further in his web. Rather, lean into it. Hold his upper body close, lock the guard, fight the micro adjustments, return strikes with strikes. Lose the round but don't let him progress to a better position. 6. Outstanding situational awareness and framing. You CANNOT let Khabib back you up against the cage. You have to earn his respect early on by landing strikes. The battle of the spirit is won or lost within the first two minutes. DON'T play the waiting game. Don't try to spend too long trying to read him and then react. Control the frame right out the gate even if you take some hits in the process. If needed, just throw teeps, jabs and upper cuts repeatedly while hopping in and out of range. Conor probably did the best job at controlling the frame. He kept his back away from the fence for prolonged periods, even controlled the centre of the octagon and forced Khabib to shoot low probability attempts. Part of the reason for that was because his striking reputation preceded him, and Khabib gave it its due respect. With most other fighters, Khabib just throws caution to the wind and walks them down. But after the first round, Conor did a sloppy job of defending those TD attempts and an even worse job of closing guard once the TD got through. -- Is there any fighter on the planet that posesses, or can possibly train himself into possessing all these skills? As of today, GSP is the only one in the world that I can think of. Let's see if Khabib comes out of retirement to fulfil his father's wish to see him fight GSP and retire at 30-0. It'll be one for the ages.

Khabib did a great job by transitioning into back mount. 2. Justin tried to escape the leg hook to stop the choke, which Khabib again did a great job of transitioning into full mount. 3. Before the end of first round, Khabib already attempted Arm-bar, and Justin tried to hold on to his arm. This time, again, Khabib grabbed Justin's right arm, Justin tried to hold onto it. 4. Khabib's already got multiple submissions, he could go for arm-triangle or even gogo plata, but at this position, Justin gave away his left arm by trying to protect his right arm which was under pressure of arm-bar. So, Khabib went for the triangle by skipping his right leg over Justin's left arm.

  • Excellent analysis. One thing I think u missed is Khabib's ability to eat good shots. I've watched several replays of the fight and Justin landed a LOT of clean head shots and very hard leg kicks. Khabib just kept walking through them and put max pressure on Justin. That had to shake Justin's confidence. Also, I found it almost incredible how gassed Justin was after Round 1. His cardio against Ferguson was so impressive. It just goes to show that Khabib's pressure is on another level. When I saw Justin breathing real heavy in his corner after 1 round I knew it was over. Finally, this fight was another textbook example of how badly good wrestlers can look when they are taken down. Justin's defense on the ground was really atrocious. He got mounted immediately and quite easily both times he went to the mat.

He had multiple wins on guys 100lb heavier than himself as well as multiple fights a night. Craziest thing was his 39-0 in kick boxing that he had at the same time. Khabib is definetly the best UFC light weight champ and arguably the best UFC fighter. But best mma fighter for weight? I have no doubt he can beat every single fighter in the LW division, which is why I give him my PFP GOAT spot, every other fighter has lost to someone or has been given undeserving wins or have cheated( PEDS), but I just think a fighter who has maybe lost 2 round in his whole career( both of which should have been given to him because of horrible horrible judging, 1. Mcgregor cheating for 1 minute and 5 seconds using illegal knees, glove grabbing cage grabbing, shorts grabbing etc, all because Khabib was getting the kimura on him., 2. I'm a simple guy from a regular village in the mountains of Dagestan, who came over here. Just yesterday my brother told me: "According to Google you are the most discussed person on the planet". I simply couldn't believe it, because if you can imagine, I never had any of this on my mind, it was just my father and I dreaming of becoming the champion one day. I could have never imagined so much could happen to me. If you have parents, be close to them, and that's it. I have only one parent left, my mother. I would like to dedicate more time to her".

I actually gained some respect for his stand up in this fight, but as soon as they went down Gaethje had nothing. As a dude with a high profile wrestling history i would be beyond ashamed if i was him. Khabib also admitted(i know khabib fans pretend he didn't) that he COULDN'T finish Al, and that he was extremely tough. Same with McGregor, love him or hate him, he did alright in that fight against a dude that is a stylistic nightmare matchup for him. Why is it so hard to give a little credit to Conor? • I was talking about Khabibs head movement before you posted this video! You are the best mind in MMA Weasle!!! It’s insane how good he reacts to oncoming punches! His timing and spacing is absolutely second to none!!! Khabib is so good on ground if he chooses to not wear on you or ground and pound you, he could end the fight way faster!!! He would of submitted Conor quicker in rematch! His ability to take a punch blows my mind too! If Conor and Justin couldn’t land clean on Khabib it shows how good Khabibs pressure, wrestling, and striking is!! I don’t think anyone can beat Khabib at 155 to 170 except maybe Usman! He is a lbs for lbs top 3 GOAT ever, no one has dominated top competition like he has!!! Any chance to beat Khabib would have to be someone trying to wrestle him back offensively because he is a strikers absolute worst nightmare!!!! The problem with that is I don’t think anyone is MMA wrestler level of Khabib except maybe GSP or Usman!

  • Thanks for another great video, Weasle. One thing I'd point out is that Khabib underhooking the leg is not just to counter the slam (although it did do that quite effectively), it really helps get the angle right to cinch up the triangle - much more effective than pulling the head down. Abdulmanup did say that he wanted Khabib to finish 30-0 after defeating GSP and I noticed that Khabib only said it was his last fight in the UFC (which was only 13 of the 29). He did seem very genuine about walking away from competition, but with both of them now officially retired, perhaps the door is open for a one-off superfight outside the UFC sometime down the track.

  • I don’t think Tony would’ve performed any better than Gaethje. Tony is easier to take down than Gaethje and his striking is not nearly as good Gaethje’s. While he does have much better grappling than Gaethje, if Kevin Lee was able to get into full mount on Tony, Khabib would have no trouble passing Tony’s guard.

    @ProteinPapi69@ProteinPapi693 жыл бұрын
    • If Khabib was interested in cementing his MMA legacy, he'd fight Ferguson and it would be undeniable. MMA math doesn't work and Tony wasn't himself in his last fight. Cutting weight 2 times in one month is dumb.

      @MakeYouFeelBetterNow@MakeYouFeelBetterNow3 жыл бұрын
    • Dont want to disrespect you but Lee didnt do anything from the mount he literally just landed a single punch and Tony got out before the round ended ( and Kevin threw a shot after the bell on pourpose) and then he stopped almost all the takedowns except the last pne when he got the triangle, and Tony did land more significants strikes and had more submission atempts from bottom than Kevin on top. And about the other thing, Tony and Eddie were always clear that the gameplan was search for five rounds all kind of creative and sneaky submissions plus upside down gnp to slow down Khabib, as we saw in the 3rd round agains Conor he slowed down a little because of the explosiveness and the isometric force he used to keep him down (the thing is that Tony never stays static like Conor did a lot of times, he has arguably the best guard in MMA and he proved that he can be durable until the last second of fight under almost any circumstances) so in the 3rd, 4th and 5th Tony could capitalize a lot to win a decision or even submit him. Gaethje cardio was bad and i've been saying that for months and no one took me serious, he lasted in the Tony fight cause Tony didnt have a gameplan like he did with Barboza to neutralize the strikes at the beginning, and Conor couldnt finish Khabib because he didnt have more energy. I think i explained myself pretty clear here i hope you guys get what i tried to say
