I would agree with you if you said he lacks striking aesthetics because his striking is not polished and ‘’pretty’’ as say Conor or Wonderboy for example.

Strong argument for Cruz beating him, and the fact that he turned around and got finished is irrelevant. He's got a case against Jones. Khabib lost 1 round. I've been watching UFC since UFC 1 and we learned about the Gracie family and what they brought to the table. You said I have recency bias, and immediately bring up Jones? A recent champion? Izzy has been knocked out before. Tony Ferguson gets tagged a lot, which is why he got obliterated by Justin. Stipe has been beat 3 times and 2 coming by KO. Personally, I don't think it's debatable. GSP got KO'd by a midget and submitted by Hughes. Demetrious Johnson has 3 losses, and title defenses against a bunch of average fighters. (Name 3 outside of Benavidez and Cejudo.) I understand he doesn't have a ton of title defenses, but he beat all the best, period. I think the 29-0 will never be touched. And leaving the division is not a must, unless you're division sucks. • Theres something about Khabib that nobody talks about so ill try to explain two things here. I'll preface this with the fact that I respect what he's accomplished and should be commended for his career. Top 10 of all time. No question. Record wise, rounds won, domination. Top 2. Here's where I have a problem... 1. Respect for unspoken fighting customs 2. He built this career on a "fluke in the system" Let me explain 1. Most fighters feel that fighting on the feet is the "respectful" thing to do and is a right of passage for winning a fight. It tests timing, speed, strength, and IQ. Almost every fight has some level of this game as a test of skills between the contenders. This unspoken respect was broken by Khabib. The threat of the takedown removed ANY AND ALL standing game. Yes thats his gameplan and yes it worked. However, it could in some ways be considered disrespectful to the damage that fighters since the beginning of MMA have put on the line in the octagon. #2 - The fluke in the system I'm going to use a video game to illustrate this. For most online video games, the first few months are rocky. Lots of updates and changes to weapons, damage, and game mechanics. In Call of Duty, there was a dual wielded shotgun that was absolutely unstoppable from close to medium range. As long as you didn't get into long range firefights, you couldn't lose. You hide around corners and run very fast, "Smeshing" your opponents every step of the way. This strategy was so powerful, that the community collectively shunned anybody that used that weapon in the game. If somebody noticed, you would be told by teammates and the opposing team to stop. You would be called out on it, bullied, and even kicked out of the game. It was that serious to people. It was too powerful. It didn't allow for a fun or competitive game. It took away from both the strategy of the game, and the competitive spirit within. We all want to win, but do you want that victory to be won competitively, or are you happy with using a "fluke in the system" to win? Khabib had the best weapon thats ever been created and has changed the game forever. Not taking anything away from the career. He's a good man. Family man. Loves deeply and works hard. Achieved something that's never been achieved before. But I am curious to hear what you think about the two points that I made above. 1. Competetive spirit/spirit of combat 2. Did he take advantage of a fluke in MMA strategy? (Like using the double shotgun?)

Khabib fought a bunch of rando's with only 1 bloke in his first 16 even having a Wikipedia page (I checked). If Khabib stayed around and defended his title 9 times consecutively (like GSP did)... then moved up to Middleweight (like GSP did)... then won the Middleweight belt (like GSP did) I agree Khabib would be the GOAT... but he didn't... he defended Lightweight 3 times therefore not GOAT. • indeed I was not born during the golden age of Muhamad Ali and Mike Tyson, but I am also grateful that I was born at this time because I could be in the same age to see Khabib even though it was not straightforward

  • Got totally dominated on the ground. Not surprised. What surprised me is that the reverse directional striking didn’t make an entrance here, like it did a little with Tony. I’m even more shocked Justin’s coach didn’t show him between rounds. Wow. Just melted.

  • Gotta give the credit where it’s due. Weasel said what was going to happen in his prediction, as it happened live I saw it play out exactly how he broke it down. Second to none analytical breakdowns!

  • It’s sad to see him retire but at least now we will get a more active lightweight title picture (hopefully)

  • I don't know maybe it takes a decade or even more for UFC to find someone like Khabib... Somesay legend born every 100 years😃😃😃

  • Honestly i thought gaetji and GSP would be kryptonite for khabib but man he proved me wrong with his excellent performance. I want GSP to not come out of retirement. Khabib is another level man. Honestly, justin gaetje had brilliant plan . He circled around, avoided takedown positionsbut khabib is another level man. Constant pressure, striking dominance cause your opponent is worried about takedowns, granite chin, toughest mentality, brilliant bjj showdown. Khabib is well rounded fighter ! Absolute legend. I think he is very very strong dude in that division too to dominate lightweights like they are flyweight. Thanks for everything kabib. Goat of lightweight division for sure👏👏🐐
