I just re-watched this match for the first time, Serena played better in that first set than I remember. She had two game points in the opening game, hit an ace that was called back for a let. The rest of the set was high level play by both. She hit more winners than errors and still lost the set. You probably could count on one hand the times that has happened in her entire career. I think after dropping the first set nerves took over in the second. Give credit to Andreescu her level never dropped and that crowd was feverishly behind Serena. The most crowd support she has every enjoyed.

Those commentators are so biased. It’s never the Bianca beating up Serena but it’s Serena not playing well. Did it occur to them that those unforced errors of hers is because how the opponent plays? She made errors because she couldn’t figure out how to stop Bianca’s returns. All those double faults are because she was trying so hard to ace her serve for a fast point. When you go for an ace, your margin for error is extremely low hence the double faults.

In everyone's head bianca was just supposed to be one more hurdle for serena to achieve the impossible. So in a way they were all shook by this underdog smothering her.
Es genial poder volver a ver este partido. Gracias!
Andreeescu takes the ball very early and takes time away from the opponent like Federer.. example 46:46 and many more during the match ....and much like Federer she does so more effectively on the forehand side...She also has more variety than any of the top players at the moment except Ashleigh Barty. However, other aspects of Andreescu's game makes her a superior player to Barty in my opinion.
I don't understand too much about tennis. So I read your comment . Are you a player yourself?
I agree, Barty might have a slightly better slice BH and more accurate serve but Biancas athleticism is astounding and her FH is lethal, best on tour IMO. She actually watched mainly Federer and Del Potro matches and emulated them for her FH, the US Open she averaged 77mph and 2750rpm on her FH , exactly what Federers was.

1:05 - "Chanda, what is happening " I am stunned; the crowd is stunned" Answer - Bianca is outplaying Serena.

Bianca up 5 to 1 in the second set thinks "maybe I'll take my foot off of Serena's neck and let the crowd get more for their money by letting her catch up to five all." Then she says "ok, playtime's over" and promptly destroyed Serena.
Hey US Open, it’s a shame this upload ends so abruptly... not only do we not get the presentation ceremony, but for the sake of one extra measly minute you also don’t show us memorable scenes of Bianca climbing the ladder to her player box and hugging her support team and family...
Six months to wait... Six mois d'attente ! And Covid is not concerned ! Merci. Ce n'est pas Sylvain Bwuno mais Sylvain BRuneau, l'entraîneur de Andreescu. Sinon bravo à toutes les deux, beau match. Bravo to both.
imagine if bianca win 2 set 6-3, 6-1🔥🔥
It was headed that way - and then Bianca lost just 5% of her focus; and that is enough to do you in, against Serena. Then you could almost hear Bianca say: no way third set - and it was all over, when she stepped to the left for the final receive.
