Imagine if we had Gael Monfils and Nick Kyrgios on the other side?

    • I’d never seen Dustin Brown in doubles play. I find he’s entertaining to watch, like a combination of the athleticism of Monfils combined with the flat rockets hit by Kyrgios.

  • I couldn't pinpoint at first what I was enjoying so much, and then I realized that it was the lack of grunting. Awesome.

  • Dustin Brown has the ability to win a Grand Glam if his body is stable and healthy. He is a wizzard on the court.

    • No way. Brown’s still playing at age 38, too. Only 2 3rd rounds in GS, 9-20 record overall. No wins in Masters events. 1 3rd round GS dubbs. Super fun to watch, but never remotely a threat.

    • @@e.h.2265 He played 20 years on tour singles. He played 1117 singles matches total from 2002-2019, that’s 62 matches/year. In total singles+dubbs, he’s played 2075 matches over 22 years, which averages to 94 matches/year. Idk what injuries you’re talking about, but he’s had a super long career and played a very high total of matches. Injuries haven’t kept him from regularly competing spanning 2 decades. He’s only 62-99 singles and 77-98 dubbs records tour level when healthy. He’s had a very small few flash in the pan wins but there’s no indication to suggest he was ever able to be close to winning a GS. Whatever these special skills you think he possesses, he hasn’t remotely been able to put it together.

  • Some marvelous players at work here. On paper Paire and Brown would seem to be a very acrobatic and creative team but on this day and on this court the actual match does not live up to its advanced billing. Lots of overhead smashes and some nifty lobs into the corners but the overall effect is less than sum of its parts. For me it was not so "BIZARRE" but it was an enjoyable match to watch. Thanks for posting.

  • Brown and Paire need a book on doubles strategy. Really good individuals, but they didn't play well together in the first set. The second set they just played well individually and made the points needed to win. That broke down in the third set as they continued to just play like two singles players on the same side. Brown just looked lost at the net, not moving with his partner, rarely in the right place, and too often just standing there like a target.

    • basically it's easy to see he was the best doubles player on the court, while the rest is lacking something (well in case of Dustin he's kind of lacking more than one thing to be a really great doubles player...which he could somehow compensate with some crazy shots, but not completely)
