  • Okay, I know it's a year later, but still... I didn't mention Lleyton because of the godamn copyrights 😂 Putting up matches with the exact dates and player names always causes trouble, that's why we use titles like this one. Sorry Lleyton you're still a legend man forgive me 😭

    • I know it's a joke, but after seeing this video I can understand why that old way of counting still prevails. The "normal" way of counting makes it more difficult to discern wether you're talking about the number of points in a game or the number of games in a set. "Second set, 3 to 2" could be interpreted two different ways.

  • Lleyton Glynn Hewitt AM (born 24 February 1981) is an Australian semi-retired professional tennis player and former world No. 1. He is the most recent Australian to win a men's singles Grand Slam title. In November 2001 Hewitt became the youngest male in the ATP era to be ranked No. 1 in the world in singles at the age of 20 years, 8 months and 26 days. He won 30 singles titles and 3 doubles titles, his highlights being the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon men's singles titles, the 2000 US Open men's doubles title, back-to-back Tennis Masters Cup titles in 2001 and 2002, and the Davis Cup with Australia in 1999 and 2003. Hewitt reached the final of the 2004 US Open, where he was defeated by Roger Federer in straight sets. Between 1997 and 2016, he contested twenty consecutive Australian Open men's singles tournaments, reaching the 2005 final where he was defeated by Marat Safin in four sets.

  • I started watching tennis around lets say 2002/2003. So funnily enough as a kid I had these memories of Hewitt being really good but not quite good enough. We had dial-up internet back then and I wasn't living in Australia, so in my own little bubble I never realised what I was watching. I was too young to appreciate his technique and also too isolated to know about what he accomplished a few years prior. It was an interesting experience learning at a much older age just how good he was.
