Furniture SHOPPING for a French CHATEAU. Ep 65
Bonjour à tous,
This week at the chateau, the family take a break from the renovations, with a trip to Domfront for a look around a great brocante, but on the way find a large vide Grenier so take a little de-tour to visit this first. Then onto the large brocante to discover what treasures may be there to discover.
Then the family visit Bagnoles de l'Orne to celebrate Bastille day with a lovely picnic and a fantastic firework display.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

I watch you and the family all the time don't speak but soon as you are on KZhead I'm here and living alone watching you guys more the earth to make the Chateau alive again is magical , I watch other UK peoples in theirs too because I'm inprired by the amazing work you are doing only wished I'd have done that year's ago what a fantastic adventure plus turning into a home fir the family . Any French people watching should be proud waking up a sleeping Chateau for the future I'm in ore of you all I'm from Sheffield but moved to a beautiful village lived here for 45 years , I had the money at one time to have bought one was doing houses up in 1971 into the 90s bring the worst back to life my love to a of you so proud 🥰🥰🥰
What a great video. When you went to the brocant I saw a bentwood rocking chair just like one I had years ago. In the 70's we had gone all bohemian so had just piles of huge cushions to sit on. Great until you're heavily pregnant coping with a 2 year old! Husband came home to me crawling to the kitchen to get said 2 year old a drink. I just couldn't stand up again! Next day he came home with the rocking chair 😊 fond memories thank you 😊 take care all. Jan xx👍🥰
Love the way you filmed the brocantes. I felt like I was there shopping with you.
Glad you enjoyed it Sally :)
I love living in the US and am so proud of our history, but whenever I see the truly gorgeous displays in the brocantes, I am reminded just how young my country is. You just cannot replicate the beauty and craftsmanship of old world treasures. I also just want to comment on how comfortable your guests/volunteers are on camera. Whether they are working on a project or just having conversation, they seem to feel right at home. I think this is, at least in part, due to how welcome you make them feel. They are obviously considered part of the family during their stay in France.
I total agree with you Jean Massey
So true. Humbling, isn’t it.
Enjoyable. There was a time in French clock making where the works were cased in a brass cylinder that would slide right into the round openings in elaborate cases like the one Terry bought. Should be easy to find fairly inexpensively. Large numbers were made. The show up on eBay all the time. Look for one in the right diameter that has been serviced and runs.
Thank you. I’ll have a look for one for him
So happy to see Bagnoles de l'Orne. Lovely place. Historical fact: during WWII the US Army & Allies set up a showers & clean uniforms stations for the troops in the town. My Dad remembered that the townspeople were wonderful to the them and were equally lovely again during the 50th Anniversary of DDay in 1994 when they returned to visit.
Gorgeous city. Would love to live in France.. I am crazy about that kind of markets too. These guys are living the dream.
Loved the chandelier with the blue enamel, would look wonderful with a Napoleonic room. Great film of the fireworks , matched the music perfectly.
Thank you Joy :)
I loved that chandelier too. Different and beautiful
I have a soft spot in my heart for claw foot tables and tubs
great music, and views near moving water are so bright. you will be able to recommend all of these outings to future visitors.
It was lovely to follow along on your adventures. I believe I would have to hire a sea container if I came along to a vide grenier and for some brocanting in rural France!
Great to see some of the local frenchness, there are some stunning old buildings in France ... so good to get out for the day and enjoy the sunshine. You all so deserve it. Good food, good wine and good company. Brilliant job fitting the fireworks with the music 🎶 🎆
Thank you!
How fun to celebrate with the French well in France!
It was lovely! The french are proud to be France and it’s fantastic!
Great that you all have a lovely day out. Well deserved. 😃👏As they say, "all work and no play ......".
It was great to get out and see some of the nearby towns. We’ve only ever passed through them, so to actually spend some time there was lovely!
Love the adventure of shopping, gorgeous fireworks 🎆, missed seeing Tony hope all is well. Rob you look great in your hat. Perfect fit.
Absolutely LOVE your intros and all of you!!❤️❤️
Thanks Robert :)
So happy to see you all out and about. Great finds all. Those fireworks were incredible. There will be a few countries competing here again at English Bay, Vancouver. It will be the first since the pandemic. So glad Johnatan enjoyed the fireworks. Best wishes all. Oh, very sweet shot of you and Ash, Terry.
Get the clock it’s stunning and a good price
Camera focus could do with sharpening up, plus slowing the pan shots during location photo’s so one can see what’s behind the blurred image. Brocantes are just a haze at times. Bollocking over, enjoying the renovation and all the hard work shown.
Hope you are all staying safe from the fires in France! So many beautiful things. Thanks for sharing your trip!
Closest fire is around 700 KMs from them
The blue chandeliers and sconces would be magnificent in your third floor hallway!
That clock would look beautiful anywhere in the château….
Lovely to see you all enjoying some time away from the chateau certainly earned it
I wish we in the US had sales like that on the streets and you have beautiful fireworks thanks for sharing
What a lovely video the day out sightseeing. How nice for your guests and a good rest for you from DIY. It can't be all work and no play. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Thank you Jackie!
I laughed and laughed when that Dutch guy said they were in the middle of nowhere 15km from the nearby town. Here in Australia we would call that an outlying suburb. Away from the east coast of Australia many towns are 100s of kilometres from the nearest town.
Wonderful vlog! Adored the fireworks, they were just awesome! I’ll admit I’m a complete sucker for fireworks, they get me every time. Johanna Maine USA
Shopping & fireworks! ❤❤
Beautiful furniture !
Nice photo of Terry and Ash. I'm happy to see some of my fellow Canadians with the gang.
Love seeing you guys out and about . It’s like a mini vacation for you.
It was a lovely day! Brocante and Vide grenier were all on the same day :)
I feel like it’s a vacation for me too!
You should have gotten the grandfather clock. It would look great up against the newly restored paneling in the tower!
I totally agree!
The grandfather clock would look good right where Ash is standing in the bit about what all you bought today.
Beautiful fireworks display.
That clock is stunning!
Terry, that was the blue chandelier and sconces and whatever else was there it's what I was talking about to you that would really make your Mama's kitchen pop! ! !
That geese chandelier was stunning and unique. I would have bought it, no idea where I would put it… but I would have gotten it. So many beautiful things in France.
Terry and Tracy will be good fun on this one. Ash might be a little nervous. 😉😂🤞❤️
Me nervous! Never 😂😂
@@ashleywaters7198 next time hopefully it’ll be Terry Tracy and you for the comedy value 😉😂👍❤️
Lovely boys. Lovely day. Great Fireworks. Glad you all had the day to Recharge. Love your channel.
Wish I could have shopped there. What fun treasures to be had!
Wonderful day out; love the shopping and those incredible fireworks!!
Love the set of the Blue chandeliers
That clock is a smokin hot deal. Buy it!
Clairement ! It's really beautiful!
I spent several Bastille days when holidaying in France. I liked Honfleur the best. Thank you
What an interesting place. Great video, felt like I was shopping right beside you. I will never get to France 🇫🇷 so thank you from Arizona USA 🇺🇸. 😎
So happy you all had a great day out, also that you found some bargains too ,then all your family watching the fireworks which were lovely thank you for sharing. Xx 💕🌼🌼🤗
Thanks Carole :)
I always have a laugh when . I hear the donkey at the end of the video..
Started following your journey from the very beginning. Currently up to episode 20. Can't wait to see what's next and catch-up...
What a great shop, the dresser with the marble top is just beautiful.
Thanks Carol! Terry does love that place 😂😂
Beautiful setting for the fireworks down by the water.
Thank you for taking us along on your shopping trip guys! Love the fireworks....everything!
LOVE TO WATCH YOU CHATEAU PEOPLE SHOPPING AND SHOWING US SMALL TOWNS AND CITIES!
Great video, some very nice pieces in the brocant, looks like everyone had a great time.
It was a great day :) thank you :)
Great to take a day or two off. The fireworks were magic.
That was a lovely outing with your family and friends.
Love the clock that’s missing a face. That should be easy to remedy with a battery run new one. I have a porcelain mantlepiece clock with a face about the same size as yours and the “works” pop out in order to replace the battery. It’s old style so doesn’t look out of place at all. You are brilliant at finding things on line so a search on line will turn up some results I’m sure. (Even a craft shop might provide the answer) Wonderful video showing enjoying the day with everyone for a well deserved break, thank you 💕👏💕 Alexandra, Florida
Oh my the suncatchers I could make with those chandelier crystals, I am drooling.
I live in Marana Arizona. Our history is Native American and Mexican. We never see European type antiques here but I have purchased many crystals from dismantled imported chandeliers which I display in my huge living room windows along with stained glass and dream catchers. I always hold them in my hand and wonder what their history has been.
@@sallystites2946 Oh you are blessed to have been able to find them, I would love to see that window. I love to use the crystals in hangings that I can put in my window love the rainbows all over the room from them.
A grand day out for the boys and all of us joining you. Fabulous video of the fireworks. ⭐️
Здравствуйте , мне очень понравились люстры в перевернутых табуретках.
Love all of the great finds. Such fun and the clock case is gorgeous. I’m glad you had time to enjoy Bastille Day and the fireworks. As usual a fun video. xx
The prices for furniture in France are stunning. That beautiful grandfather clock for €100! I suggest that you keep an eye on the crockery sets. A few years ago I saw really wonderful quality all-inclusive settings for 40 people, plus the tureens bowls cups etc, in a brocante for €120. Obviously came out if a manoire or château. I have never stopped kicking myself for not buying one. You would find it handy for when you are taking guests. 🇦🇺
Like a huge museum
Glad you got away for a day. I want to go shopping with Asha and Terry!
Thank you Once Again Great Blog Love The Fire Works. 💕🏰
Love me a one legged chair 😂Let’s get it and surprise everyone with what you can make of it.
OH what a quaint place to shop! I LOVE perfume bottles - I would buy a ton. I would actually go broke shopping in France. 🤣 So glad you had some time to do some fun and relaxing activities.
It was a lovely day Lisa :)
@@ashleywaters7198 Awesome! 😊
What a lovely little town where you went for Bastelle Day. Reminds me of the fireworks we use to enjoy for 4th of July
It was lovely!
@@ashleywaters7198 I can imagine it has many wonderful streets to explore
Amazing bargains; one legged table going for free. 😅
Exquisite chandeliers. I would want to buy them all.
absolutely fantastic editing of the fireworks !
Scan just a little more slowly so we viewers don’t get dizzy. And can enjoy seeing all the wonderful things vicariously! 🤔😁
tie backs are soft, hold backs are metal xx
Beautiful clock to be!!💕
Wine IS a good bit!
loved the footage of the fireworks and the music in it !
Love the mantle clock you bought!
love the donkey .
The Jolly Boys 😎😘♥️
I would basically want a chateau just as an excuse to go to brocantes to fill it
I love the pair of blue chandeliers with matching side lights.
You need to get the donkey a buddy, he’s lonely 😎👍
He belongs to their neighbour. They let him use their field.
How lovely to enjoy the beauties of France AND do some chateau shopping at the same time! Looks like an incredible market! I’d loose my mind. 🥰
Terry, Rob, Glen and Abe loved it!
Thanks for sharing!
Ohhhhhh, Just Found you , 👍🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Enjoyed your outing in the beautiful villages. Nice that you all could have fun away together. Nice items you all bought. Beautiful fireworks and filming.
I bet all the antiques you're looking at originally came from your chateau!!!
That clock is gorgeous
The one thing I can’t unsee in the videos of all the château owners doing the youtube thing is the amount of geoengineering going on in Europe. The white lines hanging in the sky for hours is not normal, and they are spraying in perfect squares sometimes. They are spraying your skies with something. I’m sure that is causing a lot of unnatural weather anomalies in Europe. Reminds me of the movie Don’t look up.
What a fabulous brocante you visited. How nice that you were able to all go out and about together. Your volunteers are given a great time .....many happy memories for them no doubt.
Like all the boys doing show n tell at school! Love it 😘💜💜💜💜💜
So jealous of the brocante shopping. There were so many beautiful things!
What a lovely church :-)
Yes it was gorgeous.
Lovely to see you boys out shopping
Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves. I now can guess quite accurately which items in the brocante that Terry will zoom in on. Remember Terry and Ash marketing has shown that if you touch an item in a store the likelihood of you buying it increases exponentially! Sadly you can blame Canada for the mustard shortage in France. Supposedly we had a drought in Western Canada that resulted in poor mustard seed crops I'm Canadian I didn't realize how much mustard seed Canada grows - although I will assume the war in Ukraine is a factor in the shortage as well. Cheers from Toronto.
Love seeing all your out things
Lovely vlog thank you all x
Thanks so much.... it was a fun video....I enjoyed it so much!! The dogs are precious!! Thanks!!
Great to see y’all out and about. Thank you for taking us along. TTFN ✌️
Fun!! Thanks for sharing!
That is one of the better videography of fireworks that I’ve seen. Good job!
