WHAT to do with the cottage KITCHEN? Ep 48
Bonjour à tous,
This week at the château cottage, Tony and Tracy are deciding what to do with the kitchen units? Mainly the kickboards. Shall they go with the wood to match in or go with something like the floor tiles? The pair come up with a fantastic idea to solve the problem and looks fantastic.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

You'd never believe the kitchen used to be where they groomed horses. Fantastic transformation!
Patrick is a proper Lord but he’s not the least bit snobby and still pitches in with the digging! Good boy! The kitchen is turning out professionally!!! Look at that, sitting around the kitchen table!!! 😊😁🍂🍁 🇨🇦 ❤ 🇫🇷 ❤
Tony you are a marvel! The kitchen looks amazing and the plinths made from the tiles finish it off beautifully, what a great idea and so unique, your a treasure and a keeper, i can’t believe how far you’ve all come, I love your videos and I can’t wait to see the finished job and see you cook a meal in your lovely kitchen Tracy, much love to you all xxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was a very good ideal on the skirtboards Tony it looks amazing
Thanks Jerry it really does :)
I really like the tiling of the toe kick face and baseboards. Looks really nice!
If you can add the skirting just behind the front legs of the stove it'll save Tracy and Tony from having to get down on their knees to clean under there. You'd be surprised how much collects under the stove, especially with kids and pets - kibble, toys, dust, crumbs, those errant pieces of veg that get away from you when you're chopping... 😉
Nothing a swiffer can't handle...
In Australia, my similar cooker needed to stand on a plinth, making it level with my bench tops, bringing it up to code. I was able to purchase a stainless steel “apron” to fit around the bottom, covering up the legs. The plinth was made to match the kick plate beneath the cabinets, and it looks fabulous.
Good idea
Irish woman: No offense but she’s Australian, the ‘common sense get the job done people’, like my beloved Joan Sutherland. And yes, I’m a quarter Irish 😁 but American 😩.
@@johnpickford4222 Hi, I’m Irish but living in Australia.
The kickboards look stunning. Fantastic idea. They look really expensive ❤
"Tracy's happy, which is the most important thing." Good man! :-)
You guys make us feel like one of the family.
Well done Tony- you are such a hard worker ! 👏🏻🇳🇿
Tony deserves a proper workbench area for Christmas!! God bless you Tony...tireless worker!
Thanks Jan
agree
Tony is amazing🥰
Or a black & decker workmate at least... sometimes you can find one at thriftstores. I got mine from a 2nd hand site.. lifesaver when I was working on my home... no more sore back.
@@jacquelinefilby1842 Tony is what my old dad would call “a hard worker” and “a decent bloke”. There was no higher praise in dads mind.
It does look beautiful with the finished skirting boards on, I agree the wood on its own didn't give such an overall Wow! factor but now its looking great. Jonathan loves being part of the decision making, and rightly so as this is a big learning course for him. Well done all 💕🇦🇺
The Tile trim is so practical for when you are mopping/ scrubbing the floor too. 👍👏🥳
Thank Moira!
Beautiful work, Tony.
Oh I love your table. Such a lovely kitchen.
Amazing job Tony the kitchen looks complete with the skirting up 👍
Oh yes, fantastic job, Tony.
Excellent job! I can’t wait to see it all finished and all of you having a well deserved dinner together at the table! Such a massive accomplishment. ❤️
Great job Tony....made my knees ache though watching you!❤
I can’t wait to see it with the work tops or counter tops as we call them here in the US. I’m so happy for Tracy and for the whole family, it looks amazing!❤. Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us here on KZhead.
This really is stunning! A place of pride where family and friends can gather for good times. Always a pleasure to see each project come to fruition. A very inspirational family to emulate!
Tony you did a Fab job! As a retired Social Worker I’m glad to contribute to the charities.
Thank you so much Amy! X
Tony you are wonderful!!!! love the kick boards, they are going to be easier to keep clean. Looks fantastic!
Tony and Tracey that looks fabulous!!!! Brilliant idea !!
So nice to see all five of you today! Tony can do everything all the time. I have wondered for a long time if he worked in construction in England??? The kitchen is perfect!! Brilliant!! Looking forward to Sunday!!
Ash is another one who worked with his hands.
You can get large diameter zinc spring clips that fit round the legs of the range cooker so you can fix two of them on the back of the the tile faced skirting board and complete the whole kitchen. It looks a lot neater. I put a small handle on the front so I could pull it off when needed and put some baking trays behind!
That was such a great idea for the kick boards at the bottom of the cabinets.
You can use a tile trim as in a skirting board too.
Great job with the skirt boards. I agree with putting some tile under the oven if possible to help keep stray bits away. Congrats on the successful charity event 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for sharing 😍😘
Such a great idea using the tile!!! Looks wonderful
Tony you are a gem.
Thanks Kate :)
I would never have thought of using tile like that. It looks great!🥰
Wow that really looks wonderful!! 🎉
Congrats Tony! Very well done. What a wonderful family you are! 🥰
Great job, Tony! I love how the kitchen is turning out. You will be making Christmas pudding there for sure!
Tracy will more likely i think😊👍
As always a top notch job!

Thanks Helena
Your hard work is really paying off!
It’s getting there. Thanks Libby.
I think the tile looks great! Really finishes it off. Have a good week.
Tile back splash behind the Stove.
We will soon see :)
What a great result Tony. Great work. The cabinets appear to float above the floor. Wonderful idea Tracey and it works so well. Cheers. 🍁
the kitchen looks great!
Great idea with the tiles, looks awesome 😊
I just wish you could always do a before and after wide scan of your work at the end of each video. Makes us happy
Thanks Jan. I’ll have words with Tez!
You're right about that Jan, a little something the folks are apt to miss out on 🙏
Looks nice Tony❤
Thanks Lynn
The kitchen is fabulous. I love the coziness of it! Can’t wait for Tracy to be able to use it! ❤️
Good job, well done Tony, looks very smart 👍
Protect that man at all costs.
They look GREAT! Well thought out idea 😊🇦🇺
Wow Toni that looks super. I'll bet Tracy will love it. It sure makes it look nice and tidy with a little piazzas. Its good to see everyone gathered around the kitchen table. It really is a family's meeting place. Lots of love and support to you all from Vancouver Island Canada.❤
Tony your the man 👍👐👌 got so many talents👏 you all have great skills and such hard workers godbless you all❤
Great job Terry. Well done. I think that you need a work table at waist height. This comes from a man who does everything to mitigate back pain. Thanks the video.
Love your cabinet color…just beautiful. Still enjoying from PA, USA.
Glad you like Paula :)
The tiling around the bottom does look fantastic. It will also make a durable, easy to clean surface. You are so good and meticulous, Tony! Just like the rest of the family, you work away tirelessly👍🏻👏🏻
Tony I really like the slate trim. It looks great. It looks as cold there as it is here. You guys will have a great Christmas this year. Johnathan is a wonderful young man indeed. It is nice to hear Tracy say tea for supper. I remember my mom often said ,time to get the tea on, meaning supper. Take care guys. Looking forward to Sunday. Congrats to Terry for raising the money and also to Lord Patrick on his new title.
Such progress in a short amount of time - you are an inspiration to many. Got my own little renovation project going on - and you guys help me cracking on. Thanks a million 🙏🏻 - 🤔 are you thinking about painting the white heaters green like the walls? To make them blend in with the walls 🙃 loving your channel 💖
Looks perfect. When its finished it will be the perfect place for your Christmas diner as a family. I know its still early but i sure hope you all will take some time off ( from YTube too) to celebrate another year of hard work, progress and above all having each other as family.🎄congrats to Lord Patrick getting his title by the way💕
Well done Tony looks brilliant x
Great idea to recycle the floor tiles into plinths - really ties the room together. Very durable and easy to clean too, even if they must have been a b***er to cut straight without cracking! Can't wait to see it with the worktops 🥰
great jobTony
The cabinets are beautiful. Enjoyed.
Great job Tony. Amazing
The kitchen is looking so great
Well done Tony , see you practice some yoga whilst working ….so multi talented , kitchen looks amazing Xx
Perhaps someone in your camp could put a hasmetsuit on; and go visit Carol and Adrian and check on those two having covid? Feel bad for them being there all by themselves. I really like the tile on the bottom of the selves, they look like there're floating. Love you guy's! ♥
Another good day’s work, I really wished I could be back on our farm, waiting for the sun to come up to start work.
How about a work bench for the hardworking bloke?🤗🤗
Well done Tony👌
Tony, beautiful job on the tiles even with your makeshift workbench, some let Santa know Tony needs a work bench. It was nice seing everyone around the kitchen table filling us in on what's happening. Thanks. Love from N.Y.
I like how that looks. Good job. My mom would call you a handy tool!
Thanks Carrie!
Great job Tony. You must love that woman of yours very much.
FINALLY! Patrick is being recognized for the royal pup he is! 😂😆🤣
The tile makes it look incredibly custom. Great job
I am really looking forward to this.
Hope you enjoyed Kenn!
The tile kickplates look great under the cupboards 👍🏻🥰
The kitchen is shaping up! Think of all the lovely family dinners you can have.
It is lovely! And Patrick looks so sharp and lordly in his coat.
Congratulations on the great charity donation!
Looks fab, well done.
It. Is looking great❤❤❤❤❤
Wow Tony what a great idea kitchen looks amazing, can I just suggest to keep some spare tiles in case you drop anything on floor and tile cracks it's a nightmare trying to get replacements ,tony you are a wonder man as you all are and Johnathan love these videos take care x
Hi Tony those toe kicks look great they match the floor perfectly I hope you all sit down to Christmas lunch in that lovely kitchen you are amazing crafts man all the very best to everyone look forward till Sunday xx
Skirting looks beautiful,good work
All of you look great sitting around the kitchen table.you’ve come so far, with so much work. ❤️
The tile trim was inspirational looks brilliant.
You guys are such tireless workers 🪜🛠😊
The kickboards look perfect! Looking forward to seeing the worktops installed. If I may venture just a small suggestion: the wall-hanging seen to Tony's right side at the beginning of this video (I believe you have two of them) appears to have been designed to stand on a counter or shelf of some kind; perhaps a narrow shelf with a decorative bracket at each end could be added, to make them appear more "complete".
Wow it's looking amazing xxx
I agree the tile as a baseboard is the perfect solution as it makes things much easier to clean and it is a perfect compliment to the room!! Great idea Tracy and great job Tony!! Looking very polished! Tracy, you must be looking forward to a beautiful Christmas dinner in this incredible kitchen. Great job guys!
Great solution! It looks fantastic.
Tile looks great on the plinths but, you have removed the toe kick area. It may be a bit tiring working at the counter with nowhere for your toes to go.
Tony you did a fabulous job with the trim. It will be so much easier to keep clean than wood.
I would have liked the the paint color a shade or two lighter, but that's just me.
It looks nice honestly Jae :)
The kitchen is turning out beautifully great job well done. The family will have a beautiful Christmas dinner
Totally agree with everything that is in the title. 😊
Love the tiles on the skirting boards. Really completes it!
Looks fabulous ‼️🥰
I think the kick plate's darker color really draws the dark posts into balance with the lighter wood. Marvelous idea. I would love to see a pan view of your completed work!
