How lovely that your guest thanked Marie by stroking her arm and shaking her hand. I so appreciate guests who acknowledge all the hard work put in by the people who make the chateau so special.
I like the kitchen without the curtains.
I do too ! I am not fond of curtains in general, they hold a lot of dust and delay sunny streams
Agree.
Curtains provide warm and a feeling of security in the winter months in Europe.
@@goldenineke yes ... here in icy Canada, we still prefer the streams of sunlight - and to have so many different views is wonderful.
Me also!
The work that has been done in the Chapel so far is absolutely stunning.
That is a long day for you, Marie, gathering all of the food, prepping it, serving it, cleaning up, doing the dishes and then you have to put on a new tablecloth and set it for breakfast, wow, at least you are young!!!
I think that Dave does the cleaning and washing up. I’m sure Marie helps also.
Dave washes up. Philip helps serve and clear. Marie does final clear up at the table. Philip helps with some wash up. Marie also does the flowers, putting them out and moving them. Amaury and Natti go home and don't help at the table anymore. ❤
@@carolinegooder7091 Thank you for giving us what is obviously insider information!!!
@@Sharon-MeNothing anybody who watches regularly or is a patron can't tell you
Catering is indeed a long a tiring job, as my sister, a former cook, could tell me. And not usually the best paid either, for all the work that goes into it.
The chapel everytime you show it is transformed to such a magnificent space. I am so in awe of its beauty.
I never envisioned it looking This Good❤!!!
It’s fascinating seeing the restorers at work and being able to follow their progress is is a joy 👏
Their restoration work is amazing.
The chapel is coming on amazingly. I can't believe how good it's looking. The restorers obviously have a great knowledge and a passion for their work. Looking forward to seeing the complete restoration.
I love how Marie is looking so classy & polished when it comes time to come in front of the guests, professional right to the end. I bet she has a routine now, keeping the appropriate clothes handy nearby & doing a quick change just before putting the cuisine on the plates, good for you Marie! I'm so impressed at all you do, flowers too
Marie is so talented with her cooking, flowers, eye for the details & such a darling personality
What a lovely gesture from your guest, shaking Marie's hand. It is lovely to see how appreciated she is, which she obviously deserves....and more ❤
I am always so impressed with the talented dedicated people restring the chapel It is fascinating.
The restoration work being carried out in the Chapel is sublime! The team of workers are exceptionally talented. 👏💖🙏🏻👏💖🙏🏻
When you were looking out the window at John and Phillip walking the dogs I had to search carefully to find Lancelot The Dot. He is so tiny, so adorable and such a happy, joyful little boy!
🍃🐕 Yes! Such a delight to see Lancelot playing tag with his doggie friends…he was having a ball!🍃💚
I worked in lead dust for 14 years. I also had to have the men take blood tests every 6 mo. I was their Safety Supervisor. Many precautions are to be taken.
The chapel is so beautiful and colourful inside. How wonderful to have these restorers to make it this way.
I like the kitchen without curtains too. It's so busy you don't need curtains at all. This way it makes the kitchen seem bigger, airy and more open to the light.
You definitely want good lighting in a kitchen and it does make a big difference.
The chapel is beautiful. Marie's cuisine, so beautifully presented, like a magazine photo. Marie could put together quite a spectacular cookbook.
My Grandmother had a dining room table the same size as yours. She had a pad made that accordion folded in four sections. It was covered in thin felt, then the first table cloth, usually white but sometimes lace, then the second tablecloth. This made a luxurious feel to it and held plates, glasses and silverware in position. It also produced a dampening effect on loud conversation that was quite pleasant. The lace was machine made, nothing expensive. As a child I loved to run my hands over that lovely smooth top cloth. When not dining the table was stripped to its wood surface, polished, then in the center, was placed an oval shaped metal bowl with discreet pierced designs that was filled with life size transparent glass fruit which fascinated me, especially the grapes which were wired together, though the wire didn't show unless they were picked up. It had once been a lamp, the bulb illuminating the fruit, but she had cut the electric cord off and removed the bulb, smart lady she.....and a really fantastic cook to boot.
At least Marie can have a flat surface beside the stove dedicated to meal prep. Marie the meal looked wonderful with this dinner service. The green accents were lovely! The great thing about being a trained Cook is that you can take your skills all over the world!
......in the off season of course ❤❤❤.
Still gut wrenching to see Notre Dame.
Oh the work surface looks so good and is surely a better place to prepare meals. So interesting learning about the way the painting restoration is done. I’m sure they are extremely careful working with such dangerous paint. But it’s looking so beautiful!
Thank you for keeping us informed about the chapel restoration, fascinating!
Your mum has done right by you, Stephanie, is that how you say it. She nurtured you well. You take on everything with so much positivity. Nothing is less with you. You are so geared and enthusiastic. It must also be the Scot in you.
Stephanie has her father's positivity.... ask everyone else at the Chateau when Maman is around...😮😅
Marie is an absolute joy and a treasure.❤
The chapel is looking good. Lancelot is a little cutie. Say hello to all and hopefully we can hear from your lovely mother and Percy.
The restorers are doing a fantastic job 🌟
The chapel is beautiful. The restoration crew are so talented.
The chapel is looking remarkable!
The chapel just grows in beauty. Has me wondering how many similar chapels with their original decorations have survived. Any idea, Steph?
The chapel is looking wonderful. If you cannot find tablecloths the right length, try buying material by the metre to the length you need. It is then a simple turn of the edges and sew in a straight line to finish off.
Wondering if your business partner, Michael Potts might be able to take pictures of the chapel for example the stain glass windows, the vault, the exterior and make cards or prints to sell at Christmas as a continued fundraiser. Your chapel will be closer to the end of restoration by that point. I’m sure Mr. Potts would use his unique style in photography to come up with something brilliant and wonderful. I hope yr chapel will be blessed by a clergyman from yr village in France when done.
The Chapel is looking amazing, thank goodness they are experts doing the painting with years of knowlege regarding poisons. Marie is looking so much happier and the food is lovely. Glad your sounding better Stephanie, I think you were sucker than you let on....keep up with getting back to full health please. 💕🇦🇺
I love that the restorer doesn’t mind being on camera and explains the process of the restoration. I am fascinated by it
I don't know where Marie finds the energy to do everything she does in the run of a day. She is a very talented lady and I hope she knows that. Everything looked so delicious and then she has to get ready to do it all over again the next day! The chapel is really going to be a jewel when it is finished. I can't wait!
Tellement facinant quand vous parlez avec Benoit! :)
I love the video as ALWAYS! I’m in the middle of renovating myself a 200 years old house and I’m a little obsessed with the details! 🙈 I LOVE the new place for Marie to work! The wood-top working space is just a piece of ART!!! Bravo Aumery! However, please can I come and paint the hotte 🙈😂😂😂 and the wall behind it 🙈😂😂😂and put all the collection of cuivre you have there ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️LOVE YOU ALL … et a demain 😘😘😘😘
Lalande in its best "grandeur". Beautiful dinner with those Lalande potatoes... XXX Yves
You have to fall in love with John's chateau, LaLande and Dans' magnificent ruin being reborn in front of our eyes. All different yet all truly French Chateaus on their own way back to greatness. One nearly done , one well on the way and one just starting. the long journey. You can see and envision near reality with such great video and sound and script. A lovely experience for everyone . so well crafted and in real life. Amazing all of you. The food beyond belief. Marie is just becoming one of the great chefs , florists, baker and a person so sound even the dogs know and love her. She is becoming her own blooming flower. This should really be on KZhead. Gt my new hip 2 1/2 weeks ago, I'm in PT to get ready to start walking again. I saw my grandson's Henry's large star being restored in the Henry vault He's a zero now but will be 1 in November. I'll bring him to the Chapel to see his star one day. Miracles are happening at LaLande for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Speedy recovery to you. I also have a star for my son. It makes me so happy.
Marie is outdoing herself with the beautiful meals. Yum! ❤
The amazing skill and patients one must have to make stencils for the paint restoration and then put them into action, ensuring things are perfectly fit for the space and design they are emulating. Then to repeat that multiple times so there is continuity in each step - it just blows my mind. I have done stenciling before and it was tedious and difficult to make it work as I envisioned it. With each step in the restoration it just blows my mind how stunning it is.
14:48 have you thought of going to a fabric store? That way you can have the table cloth 4 meters long. NP. 😉
Good idea! 😀
You need a separate pile of "tablecloths that fit" in the laundry. 😂😂
I feel so sorry for Marie
Why? She is doing work that she says she enjoys-cooking and arranging flowers-in a place where she says she loves living. Not many people are so fortunate to live and work with friends. In addition, the B&B season is only 6 months long, and she only has to cook guest dinners 2 or 3 times a week.
Don’t be sorry. Cooking at Lalande is a good opportunity of training for Marie. She had a one month course in a cooking school in England and needs to practice now before becoming a professional chef. She is young and has still a lot to learn through practice. At Lalande she is surrounded by friends and cooks only a few meals a week. In a previous video some months ago, she said she wanted to be a chef on a yacht, which is much more challenging.
Happy to see the beautiful progress in the Chapel! That ceiling is stunning!
Love the new guest, love the video, you guys are so sweet. Have a wonderful weekend.
no drapes in the kitchen please. No dogs either but I am alone on that one. Gives me the willies to think of the germs and how quickly several of you get ill so often.
Get a life!
What a gem they have revealed with their amazing chapel work.
The table is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
Food looks great but I would need more to eat than that.
They have snacks and drinks in the late afternoon and coffee and snacks after dinner. Breakfast is just put out in the dining room, and you find your own lunch. ❤
It's a late dinner, though, would you want to stuff yourself just before bedtime 🤔
you can order those tablecloths and serviettes from India Inc or Jane Valken in South Africa. Both have online shops.
I just love the power of transformation!! Please do pass on to the Chapel restorers my warmest regards, I'm sure many besides me, are in absolute awe of the work they are doing and it is such a pleasure to see the beautiful gem come back to life!
You can get taable pads made and probably liners.
The chapel restorers are artists them selves. Your Chapel is going to be over the top gorgeous. Even seeing it from my computer screen I can see how magnificent it will be. The whole Chapel is a work of art. I've never seen a small Chapel that is so ornate!
You could initial the underside corner of table cloths for size. Then you don't have to unfold them to find the right ones!
It warms my heart to see the progress in the chapel. Amazing work. Sorry to heR about the paint being lead and mercury. I know the workers will maintain their safety as professionals. That was a lovely meal service, Marie.❤
Me and hubby are off to South Africa next week, am so looking forward to picking up some Ardmore napkins. I’d like the Sabie Jungle version in mist. 🤞❤️
Marie Is Doing a Brilliant job. Xx 😘
Loved the work done in the chapel, it's looking Great!
What a treasure Marie is!
Perhaps you need 2 dogs... Lancelot seems to love having a friend to play with 24/7
The chapel is looking amazing. I love Amaury's worktop. I was thinking a blue and white tile backsplash would look great on the wall above it.
Chapel is just astounding Steph...so gorgeous
If Marie sees this: you are a treasure for LaLande❤ you are so sweet, so kind, so talented, and funny. Wish I met you one day. I’m Norwegian as well as you. Steph, you look amazing. ❤️ you have such good style! The vlogs brings me joy ❤️always!
Stephanie, l am wondering when the chapel is finished. Will there be an open day for the people from the village to see the restoration? It's a joy to see the progress of the restoration.
This is a GREAT idea
I'm sure the school children who previously toured the chapel before restoration would love to see it, too. I can imagine them spending the whole day at Lalande. It would be so educational. And who knows, maybe it might inspire one of the them to buy and restore a chateau of their own when they are older. 😃🏰❤
Excellent suggestion
The chapel is coming along beautifully - the restorers are so incredibly talented. And I really loved your guest wearing the tiara for dinner -- she looked like a lot of fun!
Sweet Dream to Lalande!!!
Marie is working super hard
I hope you are already planning the first mass and celebration after complete restoration! Looking forward to who the Priest will be and the Government Officials and all the gang and of course the workers who restored it.
Missed you four days ❤
Ditto!!!
I was rewatching some of the older videos, they are brilliant! Tonight I watched Dan doing the planting in the courtyard when they first prepared it. Also watched the Lalanders racking out the gravel in their dressing gowns- hilarious 🤣 🤣🤣 I highly recommend a trip down memory lane, it’s great to look back and see all that’s been achieved ❤️
Good God what time does Marie knock off for the evening? 😱
When you go to a restaurant for an evening meal, when do you think staff there knock off?
She doesn't cook 3-course evening meal 7 days a week, you know.
John has such a beautiful palace and gorgeous landscaping.
Spraying the tablecloths, when they are on the table, with a spray bottle with water will release the creases and wrinkles 😊 easier than ironing
There's a nice vibe coming through these videos; I like it. So nice to see Grant and daughter back.
Everything and everyone is so lovely and interesting per usual. ❤
Philip looks very dashing in his suit. Blessings.
Marie, the new countertop Amaury made is the perfect height to prevent backaches! The meal looks yummy! Enjoying listening to the Chapel Artisans! ~Terri & Colin Rankin 😊
The footage of Philip and John walking with the three dogs is hysterical because Lancelot is barely more than a speck in the distance next to the two big dogs.
Blues green and aquas so pretty
Marie you are a beautiful lady !! as is Stephanie - love to you both - Julie Gold Coast, Aus
Dear Marie, the roasted artichokes were absolutely delicious ! Definitely worth repeating. Thanks a lot for all the delicious food. Love from The Netherlands.
Would be easy to make a washable pad for under your linens, Amazon has many table pads. They are quilted and protect dishes glass wear etc.
And of course, protect the table itself.
The blue breakfast table cloth is gorgeous! The table setting for dinner was outstanding as well ❤️
💜💙💚 Lovely Chapel.
I know we’ve all said it but the dining chairs are really so beautiful. They fit in with the room perfectly.
Marie and Stephanie. You can tie a colored thread on a corner to signify the size of the tableclothes .
A person with an embroidery machine available could also be retained to embroider small numbers on those very same corners!
@@JackL75Nice idea
Marie! What a gem!!!!!!!!!
1st Dominican but hopefully not the last. I’m half Dominican, studied in the DR Interior Design, live in Miami since the 90’s and been watching your channel for years now! I Tell all my friends and family to watch you and hopefully someday will be able to visit you all! Continue the great work ❤!
Love seeing the progress in the chapel. The restorers are doing an amazing job.
The chapel is coming along nicely! Thanks for sharing! 💯 ❣️
John’s Chateau is glorious what a view from your room. All good things must come to an end. Back at Chateau Laland the work they’ve done in the Chapel is stunning. New guests and interesting yummy dinners by Maree
You deserve mucho credit for restoring the chapel, or should I say, for hiring some of the best in all of France, if not the best.
A little tip about the tablecloth. The older generation in my family tought me to never iron linen since it damages the fabric. Instead I’ve been tought to spray water on the tablecloth when it is on the table and strech it out by hand. Let it dry and then it will be perfect! 🌟👌Love the episode and I will see you this summer! 🤗🌸🌷
These restorers and painters are amazing
The chapel is looking so good! And Marie is a genius in the kitchen as well as with flowers! What an artist she is creating a feast for the senses!
Just curious will the restorers create a pattern like carve it out so they can just roll it on? I was just wondering. Your guest with her Tiara is so adorable. Applause for Marie's lovely dinner & lunch. Appreciation to Dave & Phillip looks marvelous. The table is stunning & Stephanie as always darling. ❤
Love John's blue shower tiles. The chateau restorers said they get tested regularly for lead, but what happens if they test high in lead? Also love the blue Indian tablecloth at the end.
There are medical antidotes they are given, and they must stay away from the lead until their system heals. Children are scared for life.
I'm so glad your ok 👍 and so pleased to see your vlogs back 😄 missed you all ❤
So proud of you Sadie; you are going to sit back one day and look around with pride in what you’ve doing today ❤
Wrong vlog.
Marie your food looks absolutely delicious. The table is lovey Philip!🎉thank you Stephanie for another wonderful video.
Both Napoleon and George the 3rd had lead in their hair. Wallpapers had it in concentrate.
🍃 Mercury also in 17th and 18th century hats, thus the “Mad as a hatter “ term🍃🎩
