Its a exciting time at the château as Ash & Terry go out to pick the perfect kitchen for the third floor If the chateau. But after carefully planning all the kitchen Terry & Ash have a change of heart with the colour scheme and are not sure what to do about it, but finally come to a decision and order the right one for the space.

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

Idea for the Tv. They make arms that you could mount on the angle wall and it would tuck pretty flush against that wall when not in use, but then the arm can swing out and Tv can swivel toward the sofa or toward the cooking end of the kitchen when in use. That way you can see from both ends of the kitchen and you don’t have to alter your fridge/freezer cabinet

Hi guys, please purchase a wall mount for tv. Hang your tv from the ceiling or wall. It will angle your tele any way you may want it to go!

You could look into a swivel arm to mount a tv on that way you can move it to face wherever you want. Love the new kitchen choice!

Was going to say the same thing. Blank wall, decent swivel TV arm. Great for cooking recipes on KZhead as well. Bit concerned with the typical British routine of filling a small room up way to much. But lm used to space..(lm an Aussie 😉)

Ash, you're excitement is similar to a boy on Christmas 🎄 morning seeing his most wished for gift under the tree. Love the exuberant smiles. Thank you Santa Terry for agreeing to Ashley's sink... compromise is key to a successful relationship. Kitchen plans look fantastic. As far as the TV, couldn't you hang a wall mount that would allow you to swivel a flat screen TV from against the wall, then angle for viewing? That way you don't have to mess with your new "island".

Hi Guys - You can get a cantilever TV wall mount that angles left and right and up and down which could possibly be attached to a beam. This way cook can watch and listen while cooking and if your dining just push it round to watch - best of both worlds

It’s going to be stunning and the contrast of the painted wood with the darker wood beams and counters was the right way to go. Never, ever apologise about your French, Ash. I am 70 now, started learning when I was 7 and lived in France. It’s my spiritual home. Your command of the language, both of you, is very good. English goes up and down where French is much smoother, if you speak it fast, you’ll both be amazing.

Great choice of kitchen cabinets. They will be easy to keep clean which I think is an important feature to have in a kitchen. And great choice of color too. The Fine Sand is a neutral that you will never get tired of. And you can bring whatever accent colors in with your accessories. I also think you are wise to have used a professional designer who could make suggestions and provide you with options to consider and ultimately checked off all your wants. My choice for the wall color is an off-white. It always looks clean, it will show off the oak beams, and light toned colors help make a room look bigger. Dark colors make rooms look smaller. (Just my opinion.)

How exciting! Finally chosen the kitchen and I must admit that chap knows his job because it looks great, the pair of you are so happy with this choice and thats the main thing. It will look cosy and also be a sensible layout. Well done. I would go for a sandy/bone colour walls to highlight the beams and it make it bright on a dull rainy day or soft lighting when eating dinner or watching TV. 💕🇦🇺

Yay! The relief of finally making the decisions for every little detail, is huge! So happy for you and can’t wait for the big reveal! Just a thought about the tv, I am hesitant about putting it under the island, accidents happen! While you were explaining where you think might be a good place for it is in/on the beam. They have the ones that can rotate around for at least a 180 degree turn. So, no matter where you are in the kitchen-couch, stove, or dining table-you can watch tv. Again, I would suggest to having it enclosed in a glass case to protect the tv and cleaning glass is easier. A designer or engineer would know better if it can be done, seeing as how that’s load bearing for the roof. Or the design can have it built into the island and it rises up by remote control, again it would have to have a seal to prevent spillage from leaking into it. 🤷♀️but I like the first idea better. You can get the kind of tv that holds pictures on the screen to look like a framed picture and not a tv. Saw that on another channel.
I’m so thrilled for you! Those were the colors I suggested on Facebook a while back. It’s going to be beautiful!!!!! Let the star feature be those beams! I love your selection. If you want my humble opinion about the dining table and built in fridge freezer dining table, i would suggest the following: you are both tall men with long legs that will feel constrained in a boxed space and your height will mean your heads will be to close to the slanted, low ceiling. Since you plan on getting a small table and chairs additionally, i would rather change the pictured cabenitry dining space to storage, recycling, wine rack, or open under counter shelving (which could be removed to accommodate additional seating if necessary or a dog feeding/ sleeping station etc. make it flexible. You will absolutely use this table space when cooking or food prepping. Find a lovely cafe round table and folding chairs. Flexible. If you can find a table that could expand with self contained leaves that could make it bigger when you need it to be, that would be ideal. If you get one or two stools, you could keep them by the fringe table/ prep space for quick bites or whatever. Also the TV would be best situated where you CAN see it while cooking, prepping, having a coffee or tea or beer at the table as well as from the sofa. As you say, you will spend your down time here. Soccer games? KZhead shows? Don’t want to miss that while you eat or cook. And I suggest the corner wall above the drawers and cabinets to the left of the door when facing the cabinets. You can then see while vegging out on the couch, cooking, prepping at the center counter, washing dishes or sitting at the corner cafe table. And i would mount it at eye level when standing. It won’t detract from the beans because it draws your eye to them! Why would you want to look down under a cabinet instead of up at those lovely beams and people in the room with you? And they make movable flat screen mounts that can be turned left out right or up and down as easily as a computer screen and not be “fixed” in one position forever. Get one of those. Again, I’m thrilled for you!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Never run yourself down Ash because you may think your French isn’t good enough. It’s incredible! Well done!! I loved the Sage Green color and with Quartz countertops I think it would have been stunning. I’ve had wooden counters and am not a fan, however, this is your pride and joy so Terry gets his color scheme and finishes. It will be beautiful, warm and wonderful to cook in. Looks great, guys. I wouldn't worry about storage of dry goods anyway. Surely one of those huge closets in the hallway could be made into a pantry if needed fro any dry goods you want to stock up on.

Love the kitchen guys. What stunner! Ash is right if you are only going for a 32” to 42” with the small bezel designs now it will be neat on the side of the fridge freezer unit. My other suggestion would be the wall above the Kitchen units to the right as you go in the door. This would give you the option of viewing from multiple places. Your other option is to go for one of the new LED projectors they are neat and you can throw them against the wall over a short distance. Best of wishes on your new kitchen and your new home is complete, at least your little sanctum.
Since you are doing the plumbing, put in a pot filler over the cooktop! It saves hauling water and someone can be washing dishes while someone else is filling the pasta pot on the cooker. You will love a pot filler!

Whats the point in a pot filler.you still have to take the pot to the sink to empty it.
@@nevisscot7697 There are a lot of things I make that just need some water added, thus, the pot filler. It also acts as another faucet if someone else is at the sink. They are doing the plumbing themselves, so it is very inexpensive for them to add it and it is convenient and handy.

Yes! Pot filler over the cooktop! I had one in my previous home and I still miss it every day!!
The kitchen cabinet colors are perfect,the green is nice but you may have got tired of it as it would feel dated really quickly.Gorgeous design ❤❤❤

It must have been really difficult to decide on what needs to be a modern, elegant look plus fitting in with the overall look in an old Chateau. That and the space you have to have your special choices. It will look fab
I like being able to watch cooking videos while cooking. I usually catch up on KZhead vlogs while cooking dinner. I don't watch movies in the kitchen, but I find a laptop or TV can come in handy dans la cuisine.
A kitchen designer is CRITICAL when you are building a kitchen, all the units are so expensive, if you make a mistake it is catastrophic. Designers save you money and make the job work perfectly.
Money well spent. The kitchen is the heart of the home.

Big drawers are the best! I have big drawers and they are so convenient for pots and mixing bowls and casseroles.
You could always get a telly that folds up against the ceiling... And then drops down when you want to watch it.
Drawers are a must-have. I know... End of bending down looking for things I need!

Hey Terry & Ash, have you thought about putting the small couch over by the window on the far wall, the end where the sink is? I think that would solve your dilemma of the Tv. You can put the TV on that side of the eating bar facing the couch. On the other side of the room on the right of where you come into the kitchen if you have room you could always put a antique cabinet for storage, I think that would be lovely, of course I'm not there to see the attic kitchen but it's just my suggestion. So happy for both of you, by the way I love the countertop you chose & the cabinet color, I think a soft color for the walls would be beautiful maybe a taupe or like Terry said a soft mushroom color. Have the tv on a bracket that can swing out 90 degrees but can go back flat when not in use.
For your TV you can get a bracket that will extend & swivel so you can angle it to wherever you want it

I am as happy for you both, as you both are for yourselves. I love the plan, and Ash, I love that sink, too. In regards to a TV, instead of having it on the island, is there a way that it can be suspended from the ceiling. I have seen wall mounted TV'S that can be pulled out and turned on an angle to suit the viewers' needs. This could be a consideration. I wouldn't take away from the little breakfast area myself. I am really excited for you both. Congrats. This company looks very professional with a long-standing service and it seems they treat you like family. WTG.

In America there’s this thing they call a “garage” on your counter to hide your toasted and blender etc. look it up. It is so exciting to watch your progress. Sending love to the whole family! ❤❤❤❤
See if Francois can put the tv inside a cabinet and with a remote control it comes up out of the cabinet and when not in use it goes back in. Just saw it on HGTV’s property brothers. Just ask Francois where best to place the tv. Try a wall color one shade darker than the cabinet and bring in color with the items in the kitchen. And Ash, glad to see you’re getting a say, that Terry guy likes to get away with all decorating decisions 😊

You want the TV visible from almost everywhere in the room. Sometimes when you’re preparing a meal your favorite movie or show is playing. I would put on the wall with the table and chairs. With the wall mounts you can adjust it so it doesn’t matter that the wall is angled.
