STEP INSIDE A PERFECTLY DECORATED FRENCH CHATEAU!
I'm delighted to share this jewel box of a home with you. Sarah and George welcome us into the early 19th century Chateau de Brives, which they've turned into the perfect 21st century family home. Cutting edge for its time (with a floating spiral staircase and en suite bathrooms for every bedroom!) the chateau had fallen into a dilapidated state when Sarah and George bought it, but they've spent the last 11 years completely renovating it with style, flair and vision...
To find out more about Sarah and George's life at their chateau, follow them on Instagram at @chateaudebrives or check out their website www.chateaudebrives.com

This is absolutely beautiful, I like the fact that this chateau is not too big and is more human-size. And these people have renovated and decorated it so elegantly and tastefully, really well done, this is my favourite video about chateaux, I'd like to live there!
Stephanie your Chateau series is by far the best!
The American decorator Brian McCarthy says the same thing about popular decor, and calls it "boutique hotel" and complains that is what most people want instead of the look of a real home. I agree with him so much. So many online decorators are pushing that look under a lot of different styles. The hallmarks of boutique hotel is that everything looks purchased at once and looks like a commercial space instead of residential. It can be minimalist, contemporary, transitional, Scandinavian, etc. It doesn't matter. It just doesn't look like people really live there and there is a lot of editing going on as well. This Chateau could have easily ended up in the wrong hands and looking very hotel boutique and it would have been a shame. Instead it is a beautiful gracious home to incredibly interesting people with incredible stories to tell through their home and life. God bless them. I sure enjoyed the visit.
Perfectly said.
Good assessment!
Nicely stated, cheers to you!
🥰I agree!! A French boutique hotel which is “Californiaized” (my word😜) defeats the purpose of traveling all the way to France. 💕I could spend hours in those rooms just drinking up the ambiance🥰 What a treat listening to George’s knowledge of his passion!💕
Well said!
The colour palette, the architectural details, the patinated floor, the proportions of each beautifully flowing room...exquisite. Thank you so much for sharing yet another example of one of my favourite styles of country house. There's something about French Chateaus when decorated in a certain way and when situated harmoniously in a mature, romantic garden, that creates a feeling of historic grandeur AND the most wonderfully enveloping friendly warmth in the world. It's magic. Nowhere NEAR as easy to do, despite the simplicity of the brief.
To have this type of detailed tour, including the family and their design aesthetic, is like having a crash course in interior design.
Absolutely!
What a delight to see that people can express such excellent taste! Thank you all.
How are you doing?😊😊
@Brother Andy To each his own! The owners know their "products".
Fashionable and functionable, also that staircase is WOW. I can see that the original owner wanted his home to be a show piece, guest would come over and probably want a chateau designed and built. Really one of a kind
Beautiful Chateau. The floor. The glass door. The decor. The history. Lovely couple. Thanks for sharing 😊💙💗
Chateau de Brives is stunningly beautiful and owned by lovely owners. The staircase, the decor, the magnificent gardens (Marie's beautiful video), that Kitchen. Truly fabulous.
They should be hosting a vlog site...in all their spare time...!!!

This couple is a dream for an Artist because they collect and appreciate art. They have an excellent eye!
Wow lovely lovely Shatto Stephanie I bet you’re in your element really look like you’re enjoying yourself mind you very interesting bits and pieces
Very well said 👌🏻
Stephanie is perfect for bringing awareness to the stately home and Chateau. I could literally listen to her for hours 😊!!!!!
I know her enthusiasm and knowledge are wonderful and thank goodness she never says "awesome" or "cool" as she is so articulate and those words are so over used these days.
So true 🌸😊
Sarah,George and Stephanie are so good together! Would love to se mummy there also!
French Country is by far my favourite decor. The painted wood, the use of whites and pastels, lots of light and tile and whimsical paintings is my idea of heaven.
How are you doing?
OMG! The missus is a bonafide chief! The husband is definitely the grande master. I actually like the chief.
Stephanie, you’ve outdone yourself once again. Some day when you aren’t so pressed for time you must host your own network tv show! Your talent is simply undeniable.
The owners love for their dogs are so much dear to my heart. You can always tell a persons caracter by the way they treat their animals. Love their staircase and the floors Unbelievable
Yes! To be a dog who lives in such a grand chateau! It’s always the sign of wonderful people who allow their dogs on their couches. ♥️
All I can say is thank you to Sarah and George for sharing their stunning home with us. What a beautiful home!
How are you doing?😊2
The foyer is beyond spectacular!! I am SOOO jealous of that stunning floor…..and the doors and those stairs, which are beyond words beautiful! You could have ended the video there and I would have been happy! When this video originally aired we were in the middle of a long whole house renovation project. I actually used bits and pieces of this video as inspiration. Our main floor reno is now done and while my foyer is nowhere near as grand, I managed to get black limestone tiles mixed with dark walnut wood flooring plus a 3/4 glass door with iron work in the glass and quite a lot of custom mill work in the form of crown molding, a double chair rail, wainscoting, larger baseboards and a door surround I designed myself that almost sent my carpenter over the edge with its scale and detail. And, I got iron stair railings (with a cast iron finial) and dark walnut wood treads. It’s not as nice as yours stairs of course but it gives a nod to your look! I also completely stole the mercury candlestick idea which I mixed with pewter ones and the vintage linen sheets turned pillows & cushion covers! Plus, my husband is now going to kill me because I keep wanting to drag all the stone garden planters in the house to fill them with bobbles instead of boxwoods and I’ve been on a mad hunt for a lady’s head with a butterfly base……I simply must have one of my own!!! Anyhoo, I enjoyed the whole lot and congratulate you on curating such a beautiful home which has a generous spirit about it!!! Enjoy ❤
Such a beautiful chateau. I love that entrance with the spiral staircase and incredible floor! Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing your visit to the Chateau de Brives with us!
Wow, that staircase is stunning, and the chateau decor is wonderful.
Isn't it though! My parents were very eclectic and I loved it....we never conformed!

Beautiful home but I wouldn’t want to dust it!
What a lovely couple. Thank them for opening up their home to show us.
He has nice collections without overdoing it. It’s whimsical and not overwhelming like some collections
Absolutely delightful couple in an idyllic chateau. Thank you!

Beautiful chateau, beautiful people.

This was a wonderful and delightful tour, through this outstanding Chateau! On the last vlog I thought George is a bit grumpy, but now with time to enfold, he show his knowledge and thinkfulness. It was very enjoyable. I like how Stephanie manage the „interview“. Great sight of every room. Very nice work, can not wait to see the next vlog. (Sorry for mistakes, I never have to practice writing english after school again)
You did really well, Irene. I think you mean thoughtfulness, though? Best wishes xx
Irene, your English is very good and nuanced. No worries about mistakes. Your joyful appreciation is all that matters. Warmest regards, Birgitt
@@birgittvanwijk9646 Thank you very much for your speech. I am motivated now to subscribe more often. So far to tell, the Followers of the Diaries are very kind!
Thoroughly enjoyed your enthusiasm for the love and expression of beauty. The dear couple's home is absolutely amazing!
How beautiful and soooo heart warming that this couple saved this chateau!! Amazing!! I love it!
Such a delightful couple in a chateau that is comfortably full of art, history and personal style! Thank you for sharing with us!
How are you doing?😊😊
Yes but their accent combined with the echo in the rooms make it difficult to understand what they are saying. Sorry . .
Stephanie's reaction when told it's an IKEA kitchen!! LOL! Maybe you could use IKEA units for your room just off the kitchen, rather than having a custom one built in England.
This chateau definitely needs 2 episodes and I suspect the owners could inspire several other episodes as well. Thank you for sharing!
I totally agree and plan on watching many times in the futur , cheers!
I'd love those boules d'escaliers. I love coloured glass. This man's eclectic collections are just inspired.

What an extraordinary Chateau! And the design aesthetic of Sarah and George is wonderful and so inspiring.

This Chateau is beautiful and the front staircase is extraordinary. I love it. I'm so happy they saved this gem.❤❤❤❤❤
I can't help but be reminded of Audrey Hepburn at 18:31 -- even if it was another actress, or just a stand-in model, the style influence is clear 👩🏻✨💃💄
Lovely couple! Love the stairs and paneling!
Let’s celebrate the skill of the artisans who did all the WORK!!!
Oh ,to have married a man like George! How lucky Sarah is to have a partner who shares a passion for antiques, art and whimsy. I cannot believe that you can rent the whole chateau with all the marvelous treasures all about. I hope we see the cottage, it looks so intriguing!
LOVELY property...Chic and FUN in design...obviously the work of people with TASTE and an ARTISTIC EYE...!!!
My perfect Sunday evening! You’re spoiling us with vlogs, Stephanie. But please remember to rest as well, your dearest ones around you said they want more time with you. x

An absolutely amazing experience such a beautiful Chateau, thank you George, Sarah and Stephanie for the tour
this chateau takes ones breath away with its stunningness. the stair case wow the floor and how the diamonds flow and get smaller wow wow wow
So many things to love, but the floor is amazing. And the handsome Weimaraner!
When I use to do large floral designs installations for a 5star restaurant, we had a group of the oyster “sticks” mounted and used as organic sculptor pieces. It was fun to see them talked about.
What a great episode Guys Thank You
George and Sarah did an amazing job. Their family home is a work of art, Can't wait for next week's peek at the bedrooms. Thank you for sharing the tour of this beautiful chateau.
This vlog is amazing! So inspiring. I was so intrigued by the decor and object groupings in your last vlog Stephanie, so I am overjoyed that you decided to do a deep dive with George and Sarah! I can’t wait for part two 🥰
A wonderfull chateau and I love love love all the collections they have especialy the roof tile figurines!

Oh how I would enjoy having friends like these, in a place like this. Every visit would be like going on extravagant holiday. It's this kind of style that makes me feel most at home. So much for the senses, one could never be bored or uninspired. Such a lovely home and equally lovely owners. Great tour.
What style in such a beautiful house, echoes everywhere of Grand masonry, the staircase is a wow, the architecture throughout, the decor and taste has to be the very best, George has an eye for collecting, displaying and the home is a complete work of Art and a joy to see. Wonderful
Such wonderful people and thanks for the tour! beautiful!

The design of some elements in the chateau foreshadow Art Nouveau by 70 years.🇦🇺
Chateau de Brives is amazing thank you Sarah ,George and Stephanie also camera man! I shall watch your video many times as there is so much to learn by it! The chateau is a work of art but you Stephanie are a masterpiece! :)

Thank you Stephanie and Philip for this wonderful tour. I don't know what "perfection" is for décor, but this place is a show stopper for sure. The vestibule is gorgeous and worth seeing the chateau all on its own. These are people of aesthetic passion (after my very own heart), such joie de vivre in abundance. What inspiration.
Just viewing this in 2024-what a fabulous find!
I can't wait until next week! Such a beautiful chateau!
Stephanie, is it possible - it just occured to me - that the brown pattern you found at Lelande, could have been a different color when originally painted? Like a red that has totally faded??
I think you have found kindred spirits in Sarah & George. You are all so passionate and knowledgeable about your homes, collections and their histories. Love it!
What a beautiful couple. I really enjoyed this.
It IS the most beautiful home! I have watched this video numerous times since it was first posted.....just LOVE this home, so very inspirational.
This place is absolutely stunning. Beautifully done with both elegance and personality.
Wonderful 💕

Everything in this chateau is impressive, and George is so knowledgeable. And then you have Sarah, the talented chef. Staying in the chateau for even just one day must be a glorious treat.
I love how they used different and simple second-hand items to decorate. It has inspired me to do more brocant shopping.
The interior and the grouping of antiques and nicknacks is a work of art. What an incredible entrance hall and staircase. Just beautiful.
I don't know if that wedding photo is of the owners, but I think it is an enchanting image.
Amazing decor! A joy for my maximalist heart! One of your best videos ever Stephanie. I LOVED it!

The squirrel is the family emblem of Nicolas Fouquet of Vaux-le-Vicomte. The squirrel roof finial may be from Vaux…

Lovely couple and beautiful restoration of the chateau. Great job of presentation on Stephanie and Philip’s part.
Excellent tour! You four amazed me! In the vlog Marie made with Sarah in the garden they found so many beautiful roses and Sarah asked about taking cuttings to multiply the beauty around the garden...I kept thinking of the cuttings Stephanie brought home from her visit to Pethericks chateau. Mummy trimmed and potted them with care and now LaLande has them growing in their garden. Sarah, I believe you could follow the same steps. Mummy, Davey or Dan could give you the details. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with all of us. It was very kind. Have a wonderful safe and healthy summer! ~Debra L Pate
Such a beautiful chateau! Thank you for bringing it to my attention.
Love your visits to other chateaus and also your generosity of highlighting other chateaus from your platform.
Certain artistic details lends to the 'special' The main staircase, their chandelier, etc.. elevates the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Stunning chateau, great filming, and nice new dress Steph.

Hello Dee, how are you doing??😊😊
I loved this Vlog. Definitely one of your best. But to be honest, I love them all. I can’t wait until next Sunday to see the next part.
That one portrait in the dining room of an American actress (film star)looks like Katherine Hepburn.🥀🥀 I'm in love with the spiral staircase!💖
That’s so funny. I was reminded of Audrey Hepburn.
@TRICKSHOTTERS, You may be right! 😂I'll have to Google it. Katherine was the first person I thought of but it probably was Audrey Hepburn. 🥀🥀 You are definitely right, it was Audrey Hepburn. 😊
Love, love, love all the antique collections. Beautiful!
Magnificent perfection. Loved every second.. thank you very much..🏺♥️🥀🍾🥂🍷🥀

This is one of my all-time favorites, Stephanie! I LOVE their style!
I love these tours-fascinating decor and history -so nicely done.
Wondering how if the owners own or had owned an interior design firm or a storefront if they dye their own fabrics and have so much knowledge in art and furnishings??
My sincere apologies to Stephanie and to others who were offended by my quick knee jerk( emphasis on the jerk) response. I’ve watched all the content long after it was filmed. I guess I had no understanding of how the content went out in real time. As an older person I frequently have trouble navigating sites and have a lot to learn. Thank you for your patience as I grow.
You are a genuine and kind person.
It’s lovely of you to take the time to write this, thank you. And don’t worry at all, I’m exactly the same with new websites, I find half of them totally bewildering!
I’m in love 😍 they decorated so beautifully!
