“He’s the favourite, with a big FTP” … says Glen, who opened up the race by doing 380W for half an hour 😬
Holy Hell. Is my 200W for 30 mins below average or average or a wee but above average? I ride 3-4x a week an hour each.
@@rcromehobbies9242 think you should ride longer if you really wanna see big improvements
@@rcromehobbies9242 3.8w/kg for 20mins is sitting exactly at 50% on zwiftpower. You can make a guess base on that.
@@rcromehobbies9242 try trainerroad. Get higher ftp. 200w isn't bad but you'll make big improvements first year.
@@roebbiej yup! When I started to train properly after completing 4 full training programs i boosted my "coffe ride ftp, I ride without the reason and structure" which was around 230-240 wattts at 75 kg (i was boxing for many years before so I was always in some kind of shape) to 320 watts at 72 kg. Now when I ride the same climbs from year and a half ago I can't really comprehend how huge the difference a proper training makes. The hills I struggled with are now a walk in a park, my HR barely goes up.
The ex-pro has a life goal just to beat Glenn
Screw this rider in particular 🤣
Lazy. I'd have taken us both back to 10th place & just watched him sprint like it meant anything. Who cares about 4th?
the wattage these guys generate could light up my house for a month. well done!
unfortunately not.
power is different from energy.
it's a joke guys come on
I mean kzhead.info/sun/gKuenb2QhnmOfas/bejne.html
imcluding my fridge and A/C! 🤣
Bart Lemmen ( the winner ). Did indeed land a Continental team for next year. He got 8th at the Dutch Time trial nationals so probably has some WATTS to diesel around with.
super impressive!
Unreal how he rode off the front of that ridiculously fast group never to be seen again. I didn't think that kind of stuff happened at that level.
@@the_fast_life and if the winner would show up in the world tour he would still get his ass kicked from guys producing 6w/kg for half an hour.
@@yumyumhungry that level is close to pro level.
The course map looks like it’s pointing to Glenn’s power.
Phew! No shame in losing to a guy doing 5.2 w/kg for 30 minutes. Great race, Glenn.
6:14 nearly wipes you out, apologises then starts swinging his back wheel around lol
In a previous video, Glenn mentions that 900W for 30 seconds is the proper microwave setting for a Stroopfwafel. In the Red Bull Bay Climb, Jeff is over 800W for over a minute, so I would think he could 'cook' a wafel no prob. Seems like the Stroopwafel Challenge needs to be a thing.
Please upload full uncut races!!!! This stuff is amazing on the turbo. Would happily subscribe to a patreon for them.
I think Glen has loaded some previous races on: kzhead.info/sun/jb6Hkc-iaWZ5nIk/bejne.html
@@nag6259 Thank you. Glen got a sub!
@@nag6259 Amazing , thank you!
Looks like final rider only had one mission, to beat Glen. As he passes the line he look back and muggs Glen “like was up”.
It's a good day when it's a Glenn day. Also that course....so jealous
im getting more and more hooked with you channel, congrats and keep up the great work!
Agreed about the tail-sucker guy in red. Riding coattails for 85k just to wait for the sprint doesn't seem smart unless Cavendish and have dedicated team to do all the work.
He probably had orders to simply not let the cop win the military event.
After watching...the sprinter did'nt want to win, he just wanted to participate and let those in that class fight for the win and the podium. He sprinted at the end just to make a point.
I wish my parents loved me as much as Jeff loves saying "Glenn"
Jeff have you ever thought about analysing big races, their strategies and stuff like that? I think that would be really interesting to see and it would increase your audience.
I need more of those videos. This is the coolest biking channel there is and I am certainly not the type of guy who says " the best " to everything
Thank you Misha!
Glenn's beast mode is awesome
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
You'll get 'em next time Glen!
Guy that crashed into the barrier at the end 🤣🤣😂 Happened to a guy in my club, looking at his pedals and BOOM! toppled over a bollard🤣
2:56 Look at the guy at the front in the yellow kit 🤣😂
Hello Man! Nice videos!!!! Please, what is the app do you use to input data on your videos ? Thanks for the videos and the excellent channel
Stoopwafels incoming man!!! + endurance training to burn them off… awesome Dutch racing
"You're halfway there and you think Oh Crap" .... the sad story of most of my chase downs!!!!!
hahah we've all been there bro!
Awesome video(as always). The power these guys generate is astonishing. Congrats. I noticed many of the racer were using mechanical group sets. Is there a specific reason? Thanks!!!
"Military pay"?
@@georgehugh3455 oh yeah. Forgot about that. Thanks
Thumbs up to the guy who bumped into the fence in the very end 😉
you rock man!
Beautiful course
Hey there Jeff, from Northern Colorado! Your videos and breakdowns are second to none. I love your work. Thank you. I’m curious… How tall are you and how much do you weigh? -Chris
Jeff is 5ft 4" and weighs 60kg.
Good commentary
enjoy the sweets Glenn and Jeff. Hey Jeff is it possible to write the lap distance on the graphic on the bottom left?
nice video , Bart Lemmen is idd a strong rider , we rode in Sint-gravenswezel against him . i got video on my channel of that race a think . Keep up the nice video's !
I'd like to know how Glen/yourself warmup. I don't know that I could hit big numbers like that in the first part of the race, your warm-ups must be pretty legit. I find if warmup is too rigorous, I burn matches while if I just do a few quick openers, I'm hanging in for first 30 mins to warmup. That's at a cat2 level
Recon the course. Get the heartrate up and line-up.
Nice job glen
I love Glenn content- nonetheless, a completely random question for you Jeff: you normally wear glasses- how do you manage your eyesight on the bike? Do you have special glasses or doesn’t it bother you at all? Asking as I have -2.0 on both eyes, without my glasses I’m half blind on the bike. And there is no proper Sport glasses out there unfortunately
Ik roka does some prescription cycling glasses but not sure if it works for your eye sights
Hi jeff I'm from Phillipines i love your b Videos 💪💪
Title may not be very accurate, letting 2 guys to go to chase one tired rider and than passing him by does not sound much like destruction :)
Hey y’all , this channel is so inspiring. I’m still a beginner and I ride throughout the peninsula up to Presidio. Looking for any good long distance routes in the bay if anyones got suggestions
Heck yeah
anyone notice the guy at the end cycling straight into the fence😂
"yeah cool only 1800 watt sprin... actually thats pretty impressive"
Oh, and is that by Radio Kootwijk? :-)
@ 15:33 guy in the black just about runs off the road!..
Anything for that little bit of draft lol, welcome to the dutch crosswinds
I'm enjoying this
Hey man, so what kind of device you use to film these video during the race?
16:44 Hey CCC guy watch out!
When are you coming to Europe?
I think it was something personal. lol🤣
Nice course! Where in the Netherlands is this? And is Glenn also a Strava user?
Vlasakkers Amersfoort. Of course a military practice ground, but also has open to public parts
how do you deal with the GoPro battery along crit races that normally lasts more than 2hrs? thanks
In this case, glenn has a small powerbank adapter
+1
@@NorCalCycling thanks. what about you in your races? with powerbanks becomes awkward
Is this a mixed field (looking at the gal? in the green jersey)?
I could murder a pack of stroopwafels after seeing this
It's a riders high when you are flying and can't feel much resistance
Where was this race? Looks like a military area in Germany called Bergen or maybe Munster?
YEAH
The ‘challenge’ of eating a Stroopwafle is not really a challenge at all.
Didn’t pay your light bill? Just have these guys hooked up to your house on a bike! Insane watts!!
Good race, how space.
Is this at the Veluwe?
Is this the course near Soesterberg?
I love to experience a real race because in my area I always imagine that Im in the race😟😟
When you take 2 scoops of creatine
Glenn - do you feel you had some kind of obligation to tell your breakaway mates that you're not eligable for the podium and wouldn't be chasing down attacks in the finale? Could have impacted how they approach the final Ks.
They knew, i think these guys lost the race before it even started. If they wanted the win they should've attacked the winner from the first moment on in the race. They instead waited and let the winner take control of the race by letting him using his strongest ability. I think the sentiment was more that a military employee had to win the bike race instead of anyone else and therefore they lost the championship even before the race even started. I was more than willingly to work with one of these guys if they wanted to make a deal :-). Obviously they werent in any state to prevent the guy from winning. I definitly would not care a single bit if only i could grab the jersey, that is all what matters in a (national) championship.
It's not outright bad racing... well maybe it is, but when your 30 min ftp is way below 300w, you don't have much of a choice. Leech and sprint for the win boys!
nobody in this breakaway had a ftp
I just want to ask, what are the benefits to have red spd sl cleats than yellow ones?
Red has no float. Some people prefer no wiggle room and want to be completely locked into position. Blue has just a little float.
SO here is the GREAT QUESTION! what software do you use to add your stats (i.e. watts, hr, mph, etc) to your video and do you know of someone who has a KZhead video that shows how to do it? thanks!
For those of you searching, I think this is Glens channel: kzhead.info
Does Glenn have a KZhead channel?
💥 Always ✅ Great💥
But surely Watts per kilo is largely irrelevant on the flat? More important is nominal power/frontal area.
Nice
Wie was de oud prof? Ik kan nergens de uitslag vinden.
Etiquette question: Since Glen and team were invited guests and couldn't officially podium, is it in good form to "blow the race apart"? Granted, no one is going to just ride around for 2 hours, but I'm assuming the field knew they weren't eligible? If so, why chase them at all (the beginning of the race)? (*legit question, not trolling) Also, I've seen invited riders entered into a "closed podium" field get scolded for 'racing hard', so.... 🤷🏾♂
A race is a race. Its on the rest to know who we are. We where on the startlist and entered the tt the day before so nobody could say they were surprised. Maybe there was some proud involved with those military guys would be my guess ;-).
@@gln666 Bedankt, Glenn! Yes, I agree with you which is why I find it confusing in some races here. We have had mixed (Masters) fields sometimes that were combined because of 'not enough riders' given the length of the course. Otherwise it looks like warm-ups because of the distance between riders. Then the "old men" complain when the full field (but seperate podium) get the pace up immediately. They finish first in their age, but cross the line 3 laps down, so they must complain. 🙄 It's not so special for their spouse/girlfriend to see!🤣strakjes!
@@sknkwrksowner yea got your point. We had 1 lap behind the car so we started slow so the old people had the chance to get those bones warm. Also they could attack from the gun to take control of the race :-).
does glenn have strava?
What is your full time job?
Yeahh
I assume that is why he is a "former pro"
Former continental rider, probably didnt make half a living riding races... No results to speak off. Its a wise decesison to quit pursuing a pro career at that point.
some said glen give him a fine while ago that's why he was looking for to stay whit glen hahaha
Holy shit u look like Robert Downey Jr.
Where is this filmed please? Is this is Germany?

Terrible strategy. Sucking wheels and letting places go up the road. Typical sprinter.

5.2W/kg still isn’t pro level. Also, why didn’t anybody jump on that yellow jersey guy’s wheel the second he attacked.

all cyclists are bastardised?
@@alg3n320 amazing cyclist, absolute beast
We've got a local rider here in Adelaide who according to strava can average of 620-650 watts for 30 minutes 699 for 10 minutes on the flat and he's some kind of racer but somehow not a pro as far as I saw. I can't work it out? Some people just have weirdly rare genetics for cycling I guess.
Where did you get those numbers from?😆 Not possible at all...the heavier Worldtour riders sit maybe slightly over 500W for 10minutes, and approximately 440-470W for half an hour
Who's not Lance Armstrong? Apparently when he was juiced he could apparently hold 500 watts for 30 minutes. I doubt your story.
@@lukasschick3489 Strava. Those were the power numbers next to the average speed of the segment which his was about 55 kilmeters an hour on the flat for about 45 minutes with a couple of efforts where he hit 60 ks for 1 minuite recorded at a 1000 watts. Maybe he drove? False-positives maybe?
@@troyphillips6481 These speeds are possible on a TT-Bike, maybe with tailwind, or behind a vehicle; but when looking at the power numbers you have to distinguish between power estimates made by the strava algorithm and real measured power with a powermeter (the little arrow if you look at the segment ranking on the strava website)
