Alto Velo sprinter here. I've learned a lot from this channel, so cool to be featured in it!
setting aside the impressive power, you position and timing were perfect 👌
Yeyeye nice David hahaha
Thanks for the shoutout! Excited to be racing with you guys this year.
The whole time in the sprint I was thinking: Go to the right, go to the right ;)
Awesome coverage by the Race Firm of Jeff & Jeff & Co. Cam and David are beasts! Thx for the thumbnail cameo. 👍
That Cervelo R5 with Reserve climbing wheels just whoops those aero bikes The explanation of Jeff (NC) at the end is so good. Every detail in the last 250 kms is so important!
Yeah the las 250 kms are Always important.😉
are those considered really good lightweight wheels?
Jeff, I feel like your recommendation to be on the right at 450m benefits from hindsight - you KNOW the other sprinter goes early, and you KNOW it opens up. _But that being the "gutter side" of a big crosswind, would you really expect it to open up?_ Could easily have been boxed in.... Wouldn't it have been more prudent for your guest host to have led out on the left and sprinted earlier, _hoping_ his sprinter would get out at 200m (earlier than he did)?
Jeff should have been on the far right, not necessarily to benefit him (although we know in hindsight it would have) but mostly to benefit his teammate, and this is the most important part...NOBODY else. If Jeff went earlier and pinned it on the right side, with only enough room for his teammate, everyone else is guttered while his teammate is the only one getting draft.
There was actually tons of room on the protected right side, and I was shocked nobody was crowding it out. None of my breakaways worked, so it was pretty much damage control for me at 450m to go. I noodled thru the pack to immediately close the right hand door, so that my 600w sprint had a snowball's chance in hell for picking up a point in the P12's.
@@NorCalCycling Thanks so much for the response. (Based on @m n, I guess I don't know what "tons of room" looks like, lol)
@@georgehugh3455 Ya I wish I had some footage to show what was happening right behind Jeff. Pictures better than words ;(
position was a killer at the end. dude was boxed in until they were at like 250m which is when he should be dropping off his sprinter.
250 is pretty early to end the leadout dont ya think? or do ya mean in this particular instance?
Depends on the type of sprinter, but you should be dropping him/her off with about 10-12 seconds left in the race, which usually is about 200m to go
that's what happened to pogacar today lol
@4:08 is that your front derailleur rubbing your chain bc if so that’s some free watts for ya homie, great race!
David (Alto Velo) with the 1300w for 15secs ✌️
6:45 the matchy spokes tho🤤
Thanks Jeffs! Great vid!
Your videos are so entertaining Jeff, especially when you have the rider commenting the footage with you. Thanks for the vid :)
Glad you like them!
Class as always! Would love to race a crit in the US, they look mega 👌
Great footage and race tactics explanation. I was suprised how many riders do not wear gloves. After taking a few falls and skinning up my hands i just don't see the downside to them now.
Those solid pulls!
Wild race!
Awesome lap cards! ;)
yooo the local homie andrew gettin it!
Jeff, do you do anything for fitness at the moment ? I have 5 weeks left with the broken shoulder (I hope) and I know I’m going to see a massive drop off in performance, which is tough to get back at my age. Any ideas or tips from your experience?
Love your work- can you do a video on crits for people without a team?
Almost all of his Alviso videos are him racing solo
Awsome crit💪
I recorded my first cycling race. It was a Criterium here in Brazil. Watch the level about athletes with cheap equipment.
Zazk's rear derailleur cable looks bent. Is this something I need to do? @4:23
4:38 I'm always thinking, did he really flip his elbow or did he just stretch or something...
Jeff, with the new Allez sprint coming out, maybe you should consider aluminum for your next bike.
Why would he do that, he probably gets a free Venge from his team
@@marcelk6514 His team gives him an Sl7 to ride because there’s no more venge but he destroyed his green S-Works one in the crash a few weeks ago. I think that was his own bike. Still he could probably get a crash replacement frame with a significant discount instead of an alloy one.
His team is now Giant-sponsored iirc
@@natgeoba7377 What dies iirc mean? Also, I've been following Chris and he's been riding a Giant TCR which was weird, but this explains it, I guess.

Best channel ever
💕
is that cat 1?
Wind from left side right? Why are they all riding on the left gutter then? Either the map is wrong, the wind direction shown on next to the map is wrong, or I'm watching people ride on the wrong side all the time? edit: wait, they are going up and down on the same road just with a grass divider, now I get the map lmao sorry guys
3:05 I'm curious, does anyone ever go for a break and nobody goes with him? Maybe might be a weaker guy and nobody thinks it's going to stick...
all the time
Podium placer in comment section wohoo
My name is also Jeff (seriously). Maybe we can make a team Jeff? ; )
