I blame the fortune teller. It was a self fulfilling prophecy. If she hadn't have made Natalie and her mother so scared of water / drowning Natalie likely would have learned to swim and survived.
I blame the mother for believing her and never teaching Natalie to swim.
well from what i understood she was already scared of water, whatever the fortune teller told her just made it kind of worse
@@kenmaskt yeah, they did say her mother made Natalie scared of dark water, and when visiting the fortune teller it made it worse so Blame the mother I guess, but then again, it didn't really matter in the end because Natalie went on a yacht trip for some reason despite her fear yet died anyways

Buzzfeed should make a “solved” murders segment with the catch that it was unsolvable and bizarre at first yet was solved later.
That’s a really good idea!
Yess. I just find it frustrating when listening to unsolved crimes. I prefer true crime stories with a bit of "happy ending"
@@misssteak1290 if you think about it there are millions if not 10s or 100s of millions of unsolved cases nearly 1 million people go missing in the us alone each year that disappear without a trace
one thing is this case isn’t unsolved. These guys in the video fail to mention any of the detectives and private investigators that found Wagner the culprit. There’s a book about this. This case was an open secret in Hollywood. Everyone knew about this. Wagner was a known alcoholic and was abusive and it was known not just rumored that Woods was sleeping with Walken. I know Natalies family the captain and Walken all know what really happened and have spoke about it. Natalies body had a lot of contusions and blunt force trauma that’s what made this case so ridiculous that it was an accident. My grandpa was one of the cops on this case and he said she looked like she had been attacked. A lot of people from the very beginning didn’t believe Roberts story. There was not just one but multiple witnesses that heard her fighting with Wagner. This case is the inspiration behinds Quentin Tarantino’s Cliff Booth character in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.
Blow this idea up omg
Every time I go for a drug test I think of Shane’s fear because even though I’ve never done drugs, haven’t even smoked pot, my brain is like “what if someone gave you an edible and you didn’t notice? Idk if it was the same for Natalie, but I'm also terrified of water (and have been my whole life, same as her) and I'm okay with boats. I definitely can't be on a boat without a lifejacket though, and I'll never get in the water. I'm guessing it might have been similar for her

But still can’t say February
Imagine if Robert was actually the man who just chucked her into the water and then proceeded to star in movies for decades later, thats terrifying
There's a lot of people who brought up why Natalie was on a yacht if she has a debilitating fear of water. I have a similar severe water phobia, but there are degrees to phobias. Some people (like me) can't even look at bodies of water without panicking, others can't even take showers or go in the rain, some can handle pools and baths but not open bodies, some can go on boats or cruises but won't go in water themselves ... by their very nature, phobias are irrational. They don't make sense. Yachts are pretty large boats, so the stability of that inclines me to believe that Natalie didn't mind them, she just wouldn't go in water herself. The dingy does raise questions for me though, as those are clearly more free-floating and the water is much closer to you, but maybe with someone else in the boat (like the captain) it was okay. But lots of people try to dismiss her fear as not that bad because she was okay with yachts, which isn't the case. You can go on a boat and still be terrorized by water. They're not mutually exclusive, but it's not something you can make sense of or explain. RIP Natalie Wood.
that mannequin is gonna move oneday I'm telling you.
Oh I'd love it if they just moved the mannequin slightly every time they're about to film a new episode, just to fuck with people. X'D

Shane, talking about bears: “Pop that thing in the ocean, see how it does!” I mean, I’m pretty sure a bear in the ocean would go over better than a shark in the woods
How does a person with a fear of water have the guts to go on a yacht
I'm wondering that too.
That's what I was wondering too...If I was scared of water, a yacht would be the last place you'd find me...It's also ironic that, due to being afraid of water, you probably don't learn how to swim - and thus, you're indeed more likely to drown...
I'm afraid of water (more specifically swimming), which basically means that I can easily submerge my feet in water if there is no danger of me drowning there. The same applies to travelling by boat. Phobias are different, and things like that aren't black and white. You can be afraid of drowning and still be on board of a yacht.
Wow, really, you're not scared of boats, then? Because...well, if drowning is likely in any place, it's on a boat if something goes wrong there. Well, maybe that's a similar phenomenon like with me being scared of heights - but I have no trouble sitting in a plane. Fascinating, really. Right, phobias are not logical...
Maybe she was a little drunk, before even entering O.o?

interesting that just like two days ago (i googled Natalie after watching this video) her sister Lana has released a book (or is just about to?? idk) in it, she basically says Wagner got her blacklisted in the industry and would treat her really badly. she also said that she thinks they "had an alcohol-fueled argument that escalated into a physical confrontation and that wagner delievered a blow to the left side of Natalie's face that knocked her unconscious [...] suddenly, panic-stricken when he realised what he'd done, R.J. made the fatal decision to put Natalie in the water to avoid being held responsible for what had happened." she also says that she knows "wagner is not going to jail. he's not going to be arrested. he's not going to admit anything." in 2018, (after this video was out) wagner was actually considered a "person of interest" by the police. i think it makes sense that her statements (that were in this video) weren't reflective of her actual beliefs. he was horrible to her (allegedly, he kicked her and her daughter out of one Natalie's condos that their mother Maria was also living in, after her death) and her trying to be cordial in order to be on decent terms with him is likely what happened. here's the article that details it: TW for sexuaI assauIt (skip from the photo with lana & natalie + wagner put together, right after it says: "now she has written..." until after the picture of the book cover (its black, says little sister in bold, with a picture of them two) and it says "Lana woke up in her LA home...") nypost.com/2021/11/04/natalie-woods-sister-says-robert-wagner-killed-the-actress/ edit: would also like to add, her mother just doesn't seem like the greatest person. putting the fear of water aside, lana claims some pretty shite incident that occurred (in the article, during the TW for SA section)

Shane's heroin fear is pretty legitimate if you're in a state where its the most prominent, especially if your in the mid-east coast of the US. You may never know.
For real, I avoid anything more than weed or booze because what I've ever seen around here.
Yeah I assume you’re from the appalachians/ rust belt, opiates are a huge problem there rn
Not really, no one is going to give you drugs for "free", if they slip it to you it's to rob or assault you, if they hand it to you they want favours, friendship, reputation (even to feel generous). And getting slipped a powerful drug is not going to be a pleasant experienced you'd want to repeat. Plus I know people took heroin once by "accident" -they had bought it as another drug- & they were never interested in doing it again, certainly not hooked.....& before all the "how to you accidentally shoot heroin" questions come through...you know you can eat or smoke it too right? And apparently, you can still puke from eating, cuz they did. Still a nightmare though, DON'T DO DRUGS!

You’re right, I think Wagner should be a prime suspect
Facts
Were ignoring her suicide attempt in the mid 60s I suppose. Also in his LACSD statement, Davern came back to Wagner at the rear deck when he discovered Wood missing after their shouting match and then the subsequent silence. You mention Wagner returned but it’s significantly more alarming to learn after Davern allegedly intervened once to no success, he was the one to check on them again. And then an hour later Wagner was, according to Davern, crying and repeating “She’s gone, she’s gone, she’s gone”
When the clout chaser doesn’t get noticed
why is the suicide attempt relevant? not to be rude, i just dont get it
@@rae6982 right? Like it definitely wasn’t a suicide in this case

The police were useless in the investigation. They didn't follow basic procedures, likely because they were dealing with celebrities. I can't remember exactly if their mistake was that they neglected to interview Wagner and Walken on the spot, or if they neglected to interview them separately. Either way, the police during this whole investigation were sketchy af.

when she fell in the water, as a child, she also broke her wrist. Her parents and the film people didn't take her to the hospital. Her wrist became deformed and she wore bracelettes to hide it. Can you imagine living with a broken wrist as a child? She was brought up in the film industry and was somewhat abused. To make her cry the crushed a butterfly in front of her. She supported her entire family at age 9.
That"s bracing insight actually.

Shane and Ryan: *talking about bears* Shane: put one of them in the ocean, see how that goes Polar bears: am I a joke to you?
Lolol oh yeah true 😂
I was looking for thid comment and now I've found it
I think bears in general are good swimmers
I’m surprised Ryan didn’t say well take a shark out of water see how that goes 😂
I think he means like in the middle of the ocean lol they wouldn't do well with just swimming alone.
My theory: Wood accidentally fell into the water due to being intoxicated while her, Wagner, and Walken were all hanging out. It might have been trying to get to the dingy to spite Wagner or they were all gonna go on the dingy and were encouraging her to join them (could have been a multitude of reasons to be around the dingy when drunk). Once in the water she immediately went into a panic and started screaming for help. Wagner, drunk himself and annoyed by their earlier fight, thinks she's being over dramatic and is embarrassed by the whole situation in front of Walken. Maybe he thinks she's trying to get attention or making a mountain out of s molehill. So he says something like "alright alright calm down we'll get ya out hold tight" (that phrase the captain overheard). He's kinda rolling his eyes like "ugh stop being so dramatic and embarrassing." Low and behold he doesn't act quick enough to help her out and she starts to sink and doesn't come back up. Wagner and Walken are both in shock and it dawns on them in that moment that the situation they were just chuckling about/brushing off has just become fatal. They both realize they just watched her drown, and didn't do enough to save her. Fearing that their lack of quick action would look really bad in court, they in a daze pretend to have not seen her in a while, and possibly untie the dingy to make it look like they weren't around when she fell in. They justify it to themselves, because after all they didn't actually kill her. It truly was an accident so they don't want to be framed or go to jail, heck they were really drunk themselves and didn't realize that she was in actual danger. But they hold onto to the guilt forever that they could have actually saved her had they took the situation more seriously. I think this theory makes the most sense based on what the captain heard and how Wagner and Walken both acted afterwards. And sadly this type of thing happens all the time, where people are being drunk or silly about something and then it becomes fatal instantly, shocking everyone involved and people don't know how to respond.
This is a good theory
Umm possible .. still doesnt explain the bruises
I know this comments is old but Woods body and the dingy were found close by. If Wagner and Walkens had let the dingy off after she drowned her body most likely wouldn’t have floated the same direction
@@chhandakarmakar4426 it could be that its just natural bruises from her maybe hitting something in the water or just from falling in too hard. i’ve even gotten bruises from jumping into a pool and hitting the water too hard. but still just a little theory.

Oh actually, from my experience, people are very often overreacting and overdramatizing while intoxicated, so this part is rather logical for me. The part that I find weird is why the hell would she even go on a yacht if she was so afraid of water.

Don't know about that, just a week ago a friend of mine spent about 2 hours being completely hysterical and shouting that 'they are gonna kill him' after smoking weed
I'm here to validate Shane's heroin fear. There's a park in my town where all the drug addicts inject. I've seen numerous needles when walking through, and I'm frequently scared a drug addict will leap out behind a bush and stab me in the arm or neck with a heroin needle. My only relief is the unlikelihood of a drug addict wasting their drugs on me. Unless they're so high they don't know what's going on.
I commented when I watched this before, but I forgot everything, so thought I'd give it another look and here is my theory for how that night may have played out based on the evidence and testimonies: For one thing, the conflicting testimonies can likely be explained away by the amount of alcohol consumed--but what we *do* know is that Wood and Wagner fought that night. It's possible Walken may have failed to notice any tension still between the two upon seeing them later on (possibly in a lull in the argument) and assumed that it was resolved when it was still not; alternatively, it's possible that Davern's memory, being imperfect from the night of drinking, altered itself/filled in the gaps in such a manner as to fit the theory of her death being a homicide--a theory that one might be likely to grab onto in lieu of such a tragic accident, especially one with so few known details and involving a close friend. Regardless of how or when the fight may have concluded, it's not unreasonable to assume that Wood likely would have been distressed after the fight regardless of it's conclusion, which could cloud her judgement even further while already under the influence of the alcohol. She could have intended to mirror her actions from the night prior when she and Davern had taken the dhingy to shore, but in her current state, forgotten that he wasn't there with her again, giving her a false sense of security while attempting to board the dhingy and get away (which would explain her having had the time to grab a coat, though she may not have considered her state of dress otherwise in her state). A similar but darker version of this series of events might have Wagner going so far as to pursue Wood out of the room while they argued, driving her to hastily attempt to escape to shore without waiting or calling for someone to help (again, more likely in her not only inebriated but possibly adrenaline-fueled state), which might also explain the framing of his own theory that she slipped while messing with the ropes (though in fairness, the level of detail in his theory could also simply be a result of overthinking the number of possibilities after a mysterious tragic accident, same as my suggestion with Davern's theory). Either way, it's clear that whatever the circumstances of her boarding or attempting to board the dhingy may have been, she somehow took a tumble and was unable to climb aboard despite her attempts. It's possible this even happened some ways from the yacht--perhaps as she struggled to figure out how to turn it on--which could explain why she may have cried for help but only been heard or acknowledged by a neighboring boat, while the reply heard may have been someone from the party failing to take the situation seriously in their own state. Additionally, the fact that she was heard to have called "Someone, help me!" rather than addressing a specific person drives me to believe that there was likely no one she knew well immediately present when she fell--though I can't speak for everyone of course, I think if I were in her position and being attacked, I'd still be more likely to either call the name of someone else on the boat, as they're the people she's most familiar with and would trust most to help; or even the person attacking, both because they'd be at the forefront of her mind and also with the possibility of trying to snap them to their senses (think how many times you say the name of the person you're fighting during a heated argument, or even just say it once on it's own). . . Anyway, this is my perspective on what may have happened that night--if anyone has anything to add or contradict what I've said, please reply; I'd love to hear some more thoughts :)
Lol seems like everyone on that boat was in love with Wood.
And why not? She was very attractive.
ngl she was a very attractive and warm person
Seems like Wood was more into Walken than the other way around.
Can you blame them tho
Sis was pretty
I think Shane's fear of heroin is rational. Sounds like something possible in LA
Atqiya Syed Atlanta, Georgia
Nah only something in downtown LA, or OC
I agree
i have the exact same fear it legit
i use to have a roommate where that kinda happened. Only his "buddies" had laced his weed with heroin and told him they had after he had smoked
Some random person: Imagine trying to learn to swim and drowning. Natalie: *phobia activated*
I think Walken was right in saying that "it was an accident" but what kind of accident is the question. I believe while Wagner and Wood were fighting, he might have accidentally pushed her into the water which would explain why the neighbors heard a scream for help. In a state of panic, Wagner probably didn't know what to do and watched her as she drowned...
"Pop that thing in the ocean" Polar Bear: Am I a joke to you?
Most drown cause global warming
Oof, and let's be honest, try to pop a shark onto land and see how well that goes
polor bars are extremely good swimmers they can hold their breath and catch a fish or two, a shark would die of dehydration before starvation and suffocation

I’ll tell you what. Bears can’t win against other animals of similar size. A hippo could wreck a bear.
shane my father actually WAS tricked into doing heroine because he was told it was cocaine.
is your dad okay?
👁👄👁 What....is-is he okay...?
Sarah g that’s like being tricked to drink beer because you were told it was apple juice
I uh- WHAT
@@beetlebub4460 😅
I know someone who took heroin without realizing it. He was horrified when he tested positive for it and tried to figure out how it got in his system. Shane's fear isn't so uncalled for.
Their impressions of Christopher Walken make me come back to this episode all the time
Wagner having a very "hyper detailed" description of what happened is the equivalent of OJ's book If I Did It. He's like I didn't do it but here's what happened.
the thing is, and i hate to have to mention this, that book wasn't actually written by o.j. but by a journalist called Dominick Dunne
@@professorbaxtercarelessdre1075 he didn't write it but he agreed to say he did - for money. Also it was based on "discussions with him" as one of the ghost writers Pablo Fenvjes said. Fenvjes was also present at the 1995 murder trial. What's fascinating and weird is that Dunne's daughter Dominique Dunne was murdered by her ex partner. It's earie how similar these cases are.
@@supermenka0 oh, i knew i didn't have all the details but that makes that book much more damning on him then if that's the case. i think we can all agree O.J. was an idiot, and very likely a bad person
@@supermenka0 What ever happened to Simpsons son Jason? ;)
omg that damn OJ book just makes me mad.
so no one's gonna comment on how two witnesses last names' were payne and wayne??

@@priyamanobal From all the comments and replies I've seen from you, you must be an insufferable person to know.
shane’s walken impression makes this my fav episode
The way he had created a perfect story is so suspicious. It's like he had it prepared.
am I the only one who finds it weird that she has a fear of water yet she has a yacht
nz k totally agree
Rich people 🙄
it's not entirely hers though. the husband might've been the one who originally wanted the yacht.
nz k thank you that didntmake sense at all
I agree it’s pretty weird
I'm soooo afraid that I will do a hardcore drug like that, I get Shane's fear 100%
Same
Sydney P I wasn't before watching this episode but I damn sure am now
Sydney P heroine's great though
Mackenzie Latham I prefer heroin but I hear heroine is great too.
Stacks I fucked up.
Fortune teller: "your daughter will drown to death" Mother: "Okay, I won't teach her how to swim" Daughter: *Drowns in a situation that probably could've been prevented by knowing how to swim* Mother: "honestly that fortune teller was right on the money there is nothing I could've done differently to prevent this."

Plot twist: The fortune teller drowned her to say her tellings are real
Well fuck
Kmsl😂😂😂😂😭😭😭
Wolfie Chan well technically......
Plot twist twist Robert wagner was having an affair with the fortune teller and they both plotted to kill her
Damon Delgado but technically it’s still the truth
one and a half minutes into the video Ryan: fortune teller predicted she would die of drowning me: the fortune teller drowned her to make the prediction come true
🤣
Imfao your pfp matches with your comment
Plot twist, the fortune teller was Wagner all along
The fortune teller: No need to thank me
Lol That's what I thought
How he just said "Lakshamanan Sathyavagiswaran" with such ease & confidence leads me to believe he practiced, a lot. Lol.
Stephanie Harlow did a deep dive into this case, with a large focus on her up bringing and her hugely abusive mother. After this I'd highly suggest watching Stephanie's video on this case
Christopher Walken highkey sounds like a side character when you watch this

Gypsy Rose Lee is the foremother of modern burlesque performer. Natalie played Gypsy Rose Lee in the biopic, Gypsy. It is a sensational film that got her out of her “child actor” phase; like most woman crave when they become an adult after growing up as a child celebrity.
The coroner was the same coroner they had for Marilyn Monroe. It was if he was the coroner to the stars...Just sayin'... And YES Hart to Hart was a huge hit. I remember when it was on.
Person: deathly afraid of water Same person: *actively spends weekends on yatch's surrounded by water*
Julian B.F Makes sense
yes well the fear of drowning is a lot more present when we're actually in the water or feel like we have little to no safety (or belief of safety) rather than when we're out of it
also never learns to swim

17:25 can we just take a moment and clap for ryan for pronouncing this without stuttering
Robert Wagner is an Academy award winner when he's not on screen . The police believed everything he said but not the words of the Captain who heard and saw everything . Christopher Walken does not talk because he knows too much .
I think it was her husband. He was WAY too over-confident in explaining what “must” have happened.
OK BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMEr
I'm thinking the captain. Wagner and Walken were each other's alibi. The captain could have killed her
I agree. We all know if you are innocent of something like this ( meaning in this case that Robert supposedly didn’t see her go overboard), then you just say I don’t know what happened cause I wasn’t there. You don’t posit a detailed account -that is exactly the same as collaborators getting their false story straight. In this case it’s Wagner collaborating with himself. Also I own a 36 foot boat and you can hear everything on it and people are always aware of what other people on the boat are doing. It’s almost like being in a car together. Obviously there was some intense jealousy at play and it’s just way too easy to say something was an accident. Even if she “accidentally” “slipped” its murder to not have “intentionally” saved her.
okay so i hear what you are saying, but the way my mind works, if i cant explain something, i have to be able to rationalize it in some way. i have done very similar things to that before and it always makes me look like in guilty of something, even though i cant help myself but try and explain it. so it isnt impossible that he killed her, but it also isnt that far fetched that that is what happened
i think it's just the way he worded it, that's how old people speak. nothing more to it
Props to Ryan for pronouncing that guys name right @ 17:25
It's not even close..
He tried and didn't stutter at least hey that's a plus
Yeah. I would totally butcher that if I was him.
Ryan:...Did I STUTTER??
But the pronunciation was way off.
Ryan's ability to say these medical examiners name's.... Next level
Fear of being ramdomly jabbed with a cocaine needle is definitely real. Shane, I get you.
okay but can we talk about the fact that the fortune teller lady was right
That's their job
That’s their job
That's their job
That’s their job
That's their job
Can we talk about how nun of them heard her screaming help me when they were closer than the witness who did hear her 🤨
i was thinking the same thing!
Exactly! Walken knows too but just didn't want to get involved. Cowards.
that part was sus to me as well, you'd think they'd have heard something
Unless they were too drunk and dont remember
Well I actually understand that since that also happens with me sometimes, like for example when I'm really concentrated with the yt video I'm watching, even without earphones I wasn't able to hear my guardian scolding me repeatedly about stuff. After that they'll just tell me that I'm "nagbibingi-bingihan" or in english is like "deafening" (I don't know that's what google translate said, it doesn't seem to have a proper english translation) and they're all angry that I'm pretending to not listen to them when in reality I just wasn't hearing them.
Anyone here watching these videos for free after the Watcher channel announced they're leaving youtube?
I think she fell into the water with the others around and they took it as her overreacting when she was crying for help. She probably went under before they got her out and all decided to stay quiet about it due to their guilty conscious from not taking her seriously
imagine how proud the fortune teller is that they got her fortune right..
@@NilePeoples-xd1od she's a secretly a serial killer, that would be the best plot twist ever
Or could you imagine if she was just a hack, then read the newspaper after her death and was just like, "...oh."
@R S lol she's actually her husband and the captain of the boat, she's a shapeshifter
fr lMao I would be off the walls
I guess statistically one was bound to be correct eventually.
Natalie Wood: Spends most of her life afraid of deep water, having been prophesied to die from drowning. Also Natalie Wood: Gets incredibly drunk on a boat with her jealous husband and the man he was jealous of. Also, apparently never learns how to swim. Christopher Walken: Is Christopher Walken.
what's your point? that doesn't explain for sure how she died or if one of those guys didn't kill her.... but yeah let's blame the victim and not the men getting drunk over who gets to bang her

My friends dad was one of the detectives on this case. He said they make some pretty terrible jokes like “I though I saw some drift wood floating, but it was actually Natalie wood” and “Natalie said she was gonna shower before bed but she decided to wash up on the beach instead”
did the detectives make these jokes?
wow so funny…. ?
I think it was some kind of domestic abuse or heavy argument followed by her trying to leave while very emotional and drunk, the emotional hurt might’ve been enough to overwhelm her fear in such a drunken state. That just seems like the simplest answer I can think of.
You aced that guy's name.

Moral of the story: Don't just bring one woman on a yacht with 3 dudes.
That is definitely not the moral of the story.

Don't swim drunk? Don't throw jealous fits over nothing? I'd say don't bring your husband on a yacht while you hang out with your crush. (jk)
Stop raising men to think of women as sexual objects and possessions.
don't see fortune tellers
Wait, I'm not 100% sure but there's more of a chance you'll get killed by a cow rather than a shark?
The exact reason cows are terrifying
More chance of getting hit by a falling coconut and dying
Kerri Hunter yes because sharks only attack if you provocke them or if they sense blood around you. Otherwise they are just friendly little fellas.
While it's extremely unlikely to be killed by a shark, they are still much more dangerous. You're also more likely to be killed by a cow because there are more cows in close vicinity to people and people are much more likely to approach and aggravate a cow.
I heard about it too from steven from worth it episode
