  • For the first time I understood the struggle. Not because of what she said but because of the way she sang that song. You could hear her struggle in every note and therefore understood what that decision must be like. Voice lessons will really help her to pull the notes out the correct way because she can sing. I wish her all the success that this imperfect world has to offer.

    • I agree (as the person who did this audition) the day I went into American idol I literally hadn’t sung professionally in over 3 years. I was once a trained vocalist but when I lost my family (mom) I truly lost my purpose in life. American idol was my chance at taking back my voice, my life, my happiness. I wanted to find myself again. I’ll forever be grateful for this opportunity. I for sure do not sing the way I used to and I would LOVE to get back into lessons. Thank you so much for this response truly. I feel very heard. Flaws and all.

  • Unpopular opinion: I really liked the switch-up of Toxic! I loved the fluidity of her voice and that mouth trumpet was top tier! But the second song? WHEW. I was incredibly surprised that Luke said no because that song blew me away. The emotion, the command, the perseverance of getting through a song that was clearly a song of her life...whew. Even if I were to base it on voice alone I was in awe. Beautiful voice, beautiful rendition. This performance would make me watch this season to see and hear more. ❤

As a transgender girl i have mastered the illusion of happiness while being completely and utterly broken inside. Still going about my day presenting a happy person. And when we're not, that's when we each have to take it day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, or moment by moment and do everything we can to get back to that space. Only in having empathy for yourself can you share it with others, and the world needs every bit of empathy it can share. You are not alone. Let your love shine. Salute & Peace.

  • This is what makes idol different from the voice. It’s so focus about the contestant more than the competition.

  • The way she spoke really touched my heart. As a gay man I can understand the loss that comes with freedom and losing people you would´ve loved unconditionally because they can´t give you that same love back... it´s so hard to accept. Love her. Hope she goes far.

  • So rooting for you!! I rarely cry watching AI, and I am still tearing up days later. It seems Amari’s soul is so clear, and she is so genuine and radiant. I wonder if forgiveness for those who could not loved her unconditionally has allowed her essence to shine through. I am so touched, even as I sit here unable to forgive those who have hurt me. I’m inspired. I have some work to do, and I want to sing too. Love you dearly and completely Amari!!
