Auditioning was made easier than ever as hopefuls also had the opportunity to submit audition videos online, as well as via select social media platforms using an official tag, #TheNextIdol, cultivating over 300,000 posts. Also, for the first time in “American Idol” history, hopefuls had the opportunity to audition through a livestream platform. Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next singing sensation, are music industry forces and superstar judges, Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Emmy® Award-winning host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return as host of the beloved series.

    • It amazes me that these judges judges let singer go thru that can’t sing. Nia has a beautiful voice. I hate to say it but they gave 2nd chances to those who were not as talented. Not just her but others as well. Maybe we need another show that will judge fairly

    • @Try Again ok I can say whitney got 11 number one singles in the duration of her career. Only of 4 of those songs she co wrote . The other 7 she did covers of other peoples songs. And whitney's biggest hit was I will always love you . Written by Dolly Parton ? So whitney was a great technically. But to be the best musician..? Woul require her writing her own songs . IT would require whitney to at least have 25 number 1 hits . And it would require her to have written them all .

  • She's in the wrong place. A recording studio is where she should be. Her precious time is being wasted with these judges. She doesn't need their approval or opinions. Shows like this are cool but they don't have alternatives for people like her. They need to create a different show for 'Advanced, Ultimate singers. Just saying!

    • I don’t the they need to create a new show for the *rarest* of cases - like Nia - who already have EVERYTHING they need. They need a ‘sponsor’ or champion or mentor - who will introduce them to the industry, guide them, get them into recording studios, maybe mentor their writing… what ever it is - they need the opportunity to just SING, and start the career they are born to have (IF - that’s what they want of course)
