Federer/Nadal vs Querrey/Sock - Laver Cup 2017 Highlights (HD)
Highlights of the first time Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal united on a doubles court. In the words of Tomas Berdych, one of the lesser lights on the European Laver Cup team: “Everyone was waiting for this moment since they announced this event is going to happen. This is the time. So I think it's almost like a celebration of tennis.” Federer and Nadal overcame Jack Sock and Sam Querrey to give Team Europe an important advantage in the penultimate day of the competition. Querrey and Sock made challenging opponents, particularly Sock, who won the Wimbledon doubles title in 2014 with his then partner Vasek Pospisil. After the match, Nadal said: "It was an unforgettable day, after the history behind us to be on the same part of the court fighting for the team is something we enjoyed a lot." Federer added: "For me, personally, it is a great moment too. We only ever practised once together, back at the World Tour Finals, so we don’t show each other a lot. We will always be rivals. But this was something very special, it was an absolute pleasure being on the court with Rafa and seeing his decision-making process. I understand that people only expect a win from us, but it’s very complicated, we’re playing indoors against the big servers, and I hadn’t played doubles for so long, I was trying to remember what to do. The two of us getting together, our two fan groups having to get together, that was interesting too. It was a success, but this isn’t just about us. The celebration of Rod Laver and having John and Bjorn there over-rides the doubles, but this was still an important moment for us."
That's not team Europe , that's team Legend
Team GOAT.

Whenever I see Nadal fans hating on Federer fans or visa versa, I always refer to them to the Laver Cup 2017. Rafa and Roger have so much respect for each other. It’s a shame there’s so many blinded fans out there
unowen7591 you’re literally one of them Nadal haters
+Derek Meade wow the moron speaks. Surprised you even have the balls to show up again. All you do is spread hate Derek. You are the reason why Nadal and Djokovic fans look bad. I am one of them? I respect both. My favorite player is Federer, yet I have tremendous respect for Rafa. What about you? I'll wait.
+iamFerriz wow another one who usually hides in the closet. I'm literally one of the Nadal haters? Please, give me a link where I said I hated Nadal. I don't like his tactics on the court, but I respect Rafa as a person and he deserves every trophy he gets. He is in fact the greatest clay court player of all time and one of the greatest of all time. So there's that. What about you? I see you comment your hate everywhere too. You going to defend your comment or just going to hide again? I'm guessing the second.
@@unowen7591 It doesn't take balls to come trolling online! It's the ultimate thing to hide behind....
Mate you maybe right but all those people blaming you for being an hater you must have a history with them I think lol
Sock's doubles play is really amazing.

What other sport has two rivals that are best friends their entire careers and playing tournaments like this?! This is the true epitome of sport.
basketball had Larry Bird and Magic Johnson as fierce rivals who co-dominated the 80s, also were friends off the court and played together on the Dream Team
As time goes by I think rivals tend to develope a kind of respect and secret admiration for its opponent.. I've seen this on Pele-Maradona, Larry Bird-Magc Johnson, Messi-Cristiano and so on

Messi and ronaldo
@@itsurboiOniichan they've never even had dinner together
It is so heartwarming for me to see the two best players and life long rivals play as friends in one team of course winning.
I wish Nadal and Federer would play doubles more when they’re older
XD but they will still say legends forever
They will probably play doubles in friendly matches after both retire. Tennis world needs it
you wish, Laver 2022
@@kevinregardyonasis43 Well i meant doubles competitively but this, this works too.
Laver 2022
I love how Federer and Nadal aren't smashing it every 5 seconds yet still are so good without being super agressive its kinda astonishing how much they can adapt to their opponents.
Simply one of the best doubles matches ever.
Yes
Honestly, we all know Federer has some of the best volleys in the ATP for singles players, but Nadal's volleys this match were top notch. Really shows how much he's developed since he first came on tour....his volleys, and serve for that matter, were atrocious. Love these two guys
Nadal is one of the best "finisher" close to the net. He is very acurate and effective
He didn’t develop his volley . He had the best of the best volley from the beginning of his career. It’s just that he doesn’t come to the net often
As a tennis and football fan, i wish i could see Messi and Ronaldo play together for 1 match ( be it exhibition ) . Its a pleasure to witness these moments in sports.
There should be something like a Pro bowl game in the world cup, where the best players in the world divide in two teams to play a game
As a badminton fan. I always see lin dan and lee chong wei play at yonex exhibition events. They should have more of these in tennis. Should be very good to watch.
Is this tennis tournament unofficial?
Will PSG do it? XD
They used to do these types of games before. I remember seeing Batistuta and Ronaldo murdering team Europe with Zidane. I'm not sure why they stopped though. Would've been crazy to have seen an all star La Liga team when both Messi and Ronaldo played in La Liga against all star teams from other top leagues.
Sock is just a legend at doubles these days.

In a 2018 biography, author Matthew Polly consulted with medical experts and theorized that Lee died from cerebral edema caused by over-exertion and heat stroke; and heat stroke was not considered at the time because it was then a poorly-understood condition.[111] Furthermore, Lee had had his underarm sweat glands removed in late 1972, in the apparent belief that underarm sweat was unphotogenic on film.[110] Polly further theorized that this caused Lee's body to overheat while practicing in hot temperatures on May 10 and July 20, 1973, resulting in heat stroke that in turn exacerbated the cerebral edema that led to his death.@@sydbailey1320
Just crazy to imagine seeing Federer AND Nadal on the other side of the net.

They guy? Kokkinakis?
Kante?
He is weird
I like the theme of this arena. Greyed out with blue and red players
I did I was about to write that when I saw this lol
The two best players of all time period
Roger and Rafa didn't actually play that well here, but they were clutch in the 3rd set tiebreaker.
Tom Deverson they were just having fun
It often shows that they are more of singles players than doubles. The opponents showed more combination I think
Nadal is one of the best dubs players out there though
Thats usually what happens when top singles players play together against top doubles. The sheer stardom intimidates the doubles team who technically is probably better, and they choke.
Tom Deverson giving the audience a show I think, just enjoying the rare moment that they play together
This was special, two greatest players in history on same side of the court
37 grandslams beat 0 grandslam
Sock won 3 in doubles.
You're talking about singles. Fedal have won ZERO Grand Slams in doubles.
playing doubles can almost be considered as a completely different game, tactics and speed alter heaps

R square was just electric... Can't say the same for RN.
大好きな2人!! 2人の笑顔見ると自分も笑顔になる
Love seeing the great friendship, humbleness and victory on this match, well done👏👏
Que esporte fantástico.... maiores rivais e melhores amigos....
Sock and Querrey, looking so tiny and ordinary 'on paper' against two of the GOATs and their legacy, did give the dream team a run to win the match by a hair. Being regular doubles players they were looking a relatively better-composed team as well. They just lost to the individual excellence of Federer and Nadal.
I honestly I love this event. Although some of the world haven’t fully caught up in Europe in men’s tennis. It’s good to see everybody having fun.

Rog and Rafa friendship goals👌❤
Congratulations you have made it to he doubles final. Great! Who are we going against. Huehuehuehuehue.
Who else just watched Federer’s last match and is here to keep the memories alive.
Thank you as always
12:52 when your big brother let you beat him a few times but now he's serious...
You are looking at the 2 greatest players in history and one of them is the undisputed greatest lefty in history. Both are brilliant at the net. I hope they can really consider playing doubles together because I truly think they could be unstoppable and win several grand slams. Fed has maybe 2 years of truly competitive tennis left in him. Rafa probably about the same - maybe 3-4 years but hard courts are devastating to his knees so it's hard to say. I thought Rafa would be done at 28 given all the injuries he had incurred up until then and although he has continued to struggle with injuries, he continues to come back stronger than ever and I would say Rafa v. 2019 is maybe the greatest he has ever played and he has certainly outperformed Joko and Fed since 2017 winning 5 GS titles and 7 M1000 titles. He's 33 and still improving! I would be shocked if he wins less than 2 more FO titles.
Nadal's topspin on the ball is unbelievable
i swear this is the best match I’ve seen rafa nadal and roger federer are my favorite players
Bravoooo, campeones tarea difícil por no decir imposible, superar a estas dos leyendas vivas del tennis, para mi sois los mejores con diferencia el "Coraje" de Rafa y la "Elegancia de Roger, simplemente adorable
With Federer announcing that Laver Cuo 2022 will be his last tournament, I just to watch this match again. Looking forward to Fedal II on Friday 🤞🤞

Federer + Nadal in one team just overpowered.
We have to give a round of applause to Querrey and Sock for even plying this game lmao
Sock has crazy net game like the man is under appreciated
The moment when u have completely understood your enemy you began to love him.
I really wish these both just could play forever so i can keep watching them until i die man federer has retired and the game doesn't feel the same anymore without him. feels like we have just lost another talent and a crucial part of the game.
they need to make more room for doubles.. a lot of these slams can returned if the crowd wasn't there
BEST TENNIS MATCH EVER!!! PERFECTION TOGETHER 😍😍😍😍
When team Europe comes: 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 When Team world comes: 👏👏
I love how the Laver Cup allows coaching. It really does blow my mind that ATP doesn't allow it. What other sport in the entire world can't have coaching?
This match was one of the best matches ive watched in my life. Absolutely legendary
I remember, I had my medical mbbs 2nd year finals going on when this happened and I watched this whole match live... not ahsamed
Very special moment in tennis’s history
It's really crazy how small the court becomes with doubles even though it's bigger.
Imagine playing Federer and Nadal at the same time, must be like Akuma and Evil Ryu, god mode nearly.

Historico
Federer could've easily won 20 GS in doubles if he focused only on doubles, his game is pretty much designed for doubles: fast and accurate serves, serve & volley master, exquisite net skills and one of the most offensive tennis players
Federer and Nadal in the same team is literally overkill
Sock and Querrey deserve more respect :P
Jack and sock smash was ridiculous
