    • As somebody who plays 2 instruments and does many different kinds of art, you fail to realize how we still can't do so much. Being able to play a song doesn't compare to knowing math skills required for your age group or being quick at grasping history facts. I cannot do anything school requires of me. All I can do is play and make art. I fail more than I achieve even though at home people only see me achieve. I am achieving nothing but something that makes me happy. Not something that matters truly.

  • I just wanna say, whether it was done intentionally or not, its actually very common for intellectually gifted people (like Dee) to struggle in learning new things, usually much more so than average intelligence people. It's because when you're gifted you spend so long with everything being easy and intuitive, that when something isn't you don't the experience of learning to guide you.

    @FinalFantasyIXIIII@FinalFantasyIXIIII3 жыл бұрын
    • This is my current interpretation of the ep, maybe because that's just a bit too real for me personally. Good for Dee that he wasn't actually interested in learning the guitar though, otherwise this would've been a bit too depressing of an episode.

I don't want to sound egotistical, but I'm intellectually gifted (not as much as Dee, but I was smart enough to be offered the choice to skip grades in school and such). Believe me, its not just something people say to make normal people feel better. Put an equation in front of me and I can solve it in my head in a few seconds, but I've been struggling many years to learn to play an instrument and have made zero progress.

    • this is something that i can agree on. As someone who's not really intellectually gifted and just sit right at the middle, i learn things easily but not at the point where i get really good at them. As a result, I now have a lot of basic knowledge on different things but not at the amount where I can be called a professional at it.

  • Glam is an amazing father and he started off with good intentions, but he definitely did relay trauma at the point that he said Dee was shaming him. It definitely shows that his fathers attitudes are still affecting him. It doesnt make him a bad parent, he realized what he did and apologized, and that makes him already a really good parent and in the other episodes he does a really good job of not repeating his fathers actions. But this episode is awesome bc it shows what trauma can do to someone. And no matter how hard he tries someimes things will slip out. Glam isnt a good father bc he is perfect. He is an amazing father because he tried his very best and when he does slip up he takes accountability for it.

I suppose it would be like seeing your past self and only seeing the way your own parents taught you as the one and only way to teach yourself, if that makes sense. I feel bad for Dee because that's... kind of what I was like in guitar class in school. My teacher was a great guy. Jovial, helpful, informative, supportive.... but... I wasn't interested in theory... I wasn't really interested in learning the basics... I didn't even like trying to learn chords. I just looked up tabs for bits of songs I liked. He shot himself in the foot saying he 'knew all that stuff', but didn't have the proper foundations to handle what was being asked of him. I feel bad for Glam because I know he would never want to be that person.

Also for what it's worth he doesn't just tell Dee he has no talent, he spastically says "in music"- know there's others areas he's good at. • I feel that Glam's anger is also due to how important the guitar was to him gaining his freedom, and seeing Dee being so flippant regarding it (not wanting to learn the basics) pissed him off. *edit* ok! so, according to the creators this scene was actually about Glam treating Dee like Dee has a tendency to treat others (IE: like they're stupid for not getting things right away), so Glam did the same to him. Weather or not Dee absorbed the lesson or understood the point of it, is unknown. However, I do believe the issue is quite complex, so I believe rather than it just being about the above, I also think it's to do with Glam being partially offended and other things as well.

  • This ep makes me so sad every time I watch it. Dee is clearly a child prodigy, gotten from Glam, so its harder for him to learn newer or more non-academic based things like guitar. Glam getting angry with him then realizing and apologizing is what I like to call 'abusive accidents' not when you accidentally abuse someone or anything but when a survivor accidentally does something their abuser did. Glam's "abusive accident" was him starting to act like his dad, and I do not blame him for doing so since it's hard to control, but he should've handle teach Dee a bit better, since he knew that Dee wasnt all educated in the musical field.

    • I understand this well, with both Dee and glam,, Because I also catch myself acting like my abusers towards other people and I tend to apologize right away or try and make it up for it later on. And with Dee when I first started playing instruments. I gave up a few times with a guitar and a piano, and it's still hard for me to learn new things like instruments. I'm not exactly a prodigy child but since I was young my grades were great til now,

From the series with poker, in which all the main characters are present, I realized that the actors do not hold out, I believe that they can play in a similar way, but apparently they were simply not told "more emotionally", from this sometimes it feels like they are just reading from a piece of paper with an expression that puts pressure on perception. But this is at least something, I think it's better than if people who do not know Russian would read the subtitles, and so you can enjoy watching, listening to the characters in English. And, I hope, Alina and Dima still receive money from monetization, as they planned, because they deserve it.

  • There’s so many layers to how sad this episode is… It’s frustrating to struggle with something you want to learn but someone else who doesn’t care has natural talent. Glam having to consciously and constantly keep the bad habits he learned from his father in check when he is displaying tough love. Dee having to be forced to temper his expectations to his level of talent and skill. There are so many things pulling at the situation and the tension nearly tears it.

  • At 4:30, I think Glam is trying to scare Dee away from music with his sudden increase of talking speed, especially after his small outburst. He's realizing he's more like his father when teaching then he thinks and doesn't want that for Dee (or heavy but he's not the topic) so he's just trying to get Dee off of music altogether, since Dee's lack of musical talent brings out the worst of Glam, as we and Glam have noticed

    @sethspinda@sethspinda Жыл бұрын
    • I also feel like Glam shows a lot more emotion not only during the lashing out, but in general during the lesson. Even if they werent poistive emotions. Perhaps it's just Glams traumatic background that makes him look like a manic serial killler , but his anger feels a lot more real then the other times we see him. This dilated pupils and big smile thing seems like a mask that he just puts on instinctively. I think his eyelids are further proof of this, seeing as Glam usually is wide eyed, but during the lesson his eyelids are doing various expressions, showing emotion we don't usually get from Glam

  • 2:33 I have a theory about that clock cause it was set to a time of 2 minutes and 58 seconds meaning that Glam intentionally or not knew the class would only last that long cause if something him or his son did, so maybe in the back of Glam’s mind he knew he wouldn’t be able to do lessons with his son cause of his past. I believe like some others that Glam has BPD or DID, and I think he has 3 alters(different identities/personalities) which is Glam, Sebastian (young Glam), and the last one which is like a small piece of his father that never got always from him. And in this lesson the “Father” (I’ll just call it that) came out during some moments. I don’t have DID myself so correct me if I’m wrong, from what I heard people who have DID can sometimes tell when they’re switching between alters which we see when Glam serval times in the lesson tries to take control again knowing this might have happened which is why he set the clock cause with this drastic change of alters and Dee’s frustration the lesson would be so short Glam could predict the perfect time it would end before Dee walked out or Glam would have to put a stop to the lesson cause it would become to much for him.

So he wanted to impress his crush, that's why he got mad when he couldn't learn to play the guitar in a single lesson and how he envies his brother Heavy who can play the guitar just by hearing a song's rhythm. Dee tried so hard, and though not so far, in the end it didn't even mattered anymore to him and he finally replied to his crush that he doesn't play guitar.

  • Man this hits home. Learning anything can be difficult and child protagys can be aggravating. But all it takes is to forget others practice and listen to others when they point stuff out. At some point it clicks and its genuinely fun to improve and even add your own flare to it. Your not gonna be the best but hey the only record that matters is your own

  • This episode hits harder than a mack truck. You know what I mean if you've felt a parent's disappointment, an inability to do something, jealousy of someone else's gift, a sibling's admiration or jealousy, or even a father's.... knowing of his child's inability. Well played, 10 out of 10.

  • I remember when this first came out in Russian, and thought Glam's behavior was really out of character. Then 8-10 happened. The writing foreshadowing, and hidden clues in the first esp really make this some of the best writing, and story tellling out there.

  • The way Dee gets progressively angry through the lesson before saying “I’m not angry…at you.” before silently crying as he walks away portrays anger way to good
