It’s an abusive dad not a butler mate

Bro what
Fun thought I just had. When Sebastian plays the record and realises it's not bach. He tries to get up. But can't. This is because metal and rock music can be calming when experiencing angry or negative emotions.
Wow, really? Didn't know that. That explains why the songs of my favorite band always cheered me up when I was feeling down.
@@LittleBlueAngelDuck Yeah, studies have shown that people that listen to heavy metal/rock or angry music tend to feel calmer by the end of the songs. Sad music can either evoke sadness from the listener (make them sob) or drain it away, leaving them happier. Happy/upbeat music draws out excited or pent up energy. It's intended to relax your mind and soul regardless of your current feelings/thoughts. Basically: The tone of the song/music reflects the emotions it is intending to help process out of your body or cleanse extreme (negative/positive) emotions from your system.
@@shadewrightgames5054 Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, one can always learn new things.
@@shadewrightgames5054 True. Sometimes, I would listen to Skillet (I have iHeart Radio on my phone) whenever I would get angry and it's relaxing for me. Sometimes, when I'm home alone and I would feel the need to feel, I would listen to some songs from Disney World and some songs from the movie "Selena". Hearing her songs reminds me of my mom because we used to watch her movie together and listen to her songs on cassette; it makes me feel both sad and "not alone".
@@christinalittleton3771 Skillet is awesome and they are my favorite band.
It’s so weird to see Glam/Sebastian without a smile. I fully get *why* he isn’t smiling, but he really feels like a totally different person here. I’m so happy he managed to escape his family in the end.

You’d think after all these years, the father would’ve realized all the physical and emotional abuse actually *wasn’t* helping his son improve. So I guess that on top of being batshit, the old man wasn’t too bright.
Most abusive parents aren’t. They think that everything they do is ok and that the kid is just acting up. They would rather blame the kid than themselves.
I suspect that despite his perfect pitch, Glam had no natural talent at music. That's why he reacted did so strongly to Dee playing poorly. He plays well because the voice of his father, which, horrifyingly enough, he internalized, drives him to constantly practice. He matches Ches through sheer force of will. So in a way, the abuse helped him, but not without cost.
Are you kidding?! The man was an animal! Seriously, all abusive parents are animals: no self-restraint, no common sense, and no manners whatsoever! Just put them down like the dogs they are!
@@knightwolf9863 Don't get me wrong, he's a bad person, and Glam might've been happier without him. I'm just saying, pain is one of the things that shapes us into who we are.
@@billlupin8345 True.

2:28 as someone who has self-harmed, and had similar cuts in the wrist like this, I *felt* this. I genuinely started breaking down when Glam started sobbing on his bed after the chat with his father, I know the EXACT feeling and I just started having a breakdown with Glam. The intrusive thoughts, pushing people who are nice to you away in fear of what your family might think, a sibling who isn’t there to support you but instead bring you down, the abuse and the way Glam sobbed and began throwing everything in his room on the floor. Everything. Everything, 100% accurate, and finally, Glam growing incredibly tired and feeling numb and giving up by playing music to distract himself and being too exhausted to push himself off his own bed. Ouch ouch ouch, that was the feeling of my heart breaking bro, bravo to the writers and the team, incredible piece of art this episode and every episode before and after this one is, mwah! Edit: I forgot to mention but Glam wishing harm onto his family is another thing I sympathize with. It might seem cruel out of context but it’s clear he’s only caught up in the heat of the moment and not actually going to do anything, even if he did have intrusive thoughts, he clearly needs help and therapy if he’s having intrusive thoughts but after his family has hurt him for so long I could see why he would wish bringing “lice” or the plague or smth of the sorts. It’s clear he just wants them to feel the pain he’s feeling. I love Glam and i’m so so happy he got out of that situation somehow. Also small shout out to Chive!! Love Chive!1!1

I think it’s very interesting how this episode connects with some others. What I noticed is that Glam made a puzzle to hide his diary and art project, which I think would explain why he was so good at the escape house.
And, the box number 37 he received from his inheritance
and the way Glam spoke to Dee when he was tryna teach him the guitar. "Are you trying to go out there and shaming yourself? shaming me?" or something like that.

Dios mio, No surprise Glam hates his old family. Good thing he is now with a family that ROCKS.
It's a little disheartening that he clearly projects onto his kid (I think it's Dee? Correct me if I have the name wrong). It doesn't make Glam any less likeable, just more relatable. More human. And every person has their struggles.

@@trystingodfroy943 it turns out that the next episode in the English dub will need to be redrawn in some places ... this is somehow inconvenient
@@trystingodfroy943 Yeah, I believe they've mentioned before that they couldn't use the same music for that very reason. As glad as I am that the episodes are coming out in English, I'm bummed that "story of my life" probably won't be in the next episode, as that's my favorite scene in the series so far.
What do you think the end song is suppose to sound like... Besides most well known songs cost ALOT to use in movies and what not, so unless they dished out tons of money they wouldn't use twisted sister in the cartoon
@@Tysandifer I mean, if they want to translate the next episode into English, it can create small problems, since there are so many things related to "we're not gonna take it". (for example: when Glam came to Ches, he took the record and said that such strings cannot play such music, and in the next frame it is this song that stands out).
The whole thing with Glam being furious at Chive was honestly relatable. He felt as if he had complete control of this situation, since he was raised to be the best (Although his father lowered his feeling of self worth) and when he didn’t succeed, he lashed out, feeling rage towards Chive because he felt as if it was his fault. Not his own or his father’s. It’s very relatable and quite saddening.
I think it's closer to fear of his father's wrath for nothing but 1st place. The fact that he lost to someone who looks like a bum makes it even worse in the eyes of his father. He wanted 1st place in hopes the beatings would stop
It's really interesting that chive picks up the lightbulb I don't know if it was intentional but it's as if chive is bringing light into glams life.

The depths of this episode. The box being the same one his gun came in the one that was sucha catalyst for this episode. It must symbolize the destruction or rebellion or something of glams. Showing that our worst days will still have a an effect on us even after escaping as he unwittingly re-created the tone his father used even if not the physical abuse. I myself was blown away by the recreation of "Beethoven lives upstairs" with the monolouge. Not sure if it was intentional but it got me. This whole episode is so eye opening and heartbreaking. I loved the emotional complexity and building in this episode, but a particularly nice detail was Gustav's punishment! As another comment pointed out, a violin virtuoso needs near superhuman strength in their wrists. At least in the States, children sometimes get their palms struck, but never their wrists--as that can cause nerve damage. It seems quite possible that the one of the only reasons Glam took second was because his wrist was sore from the ruler!

As someone who used to s/lfh//m, I can just feel his pain when he brings his damaged wrist into the shower It’s so painful, especially if the damage is fresh/new
Ikr it probably feels like shit against his clothes too. And he can’t flinch or show that it hurts. When he was trying to hide his whimpers from his mom 😭
"Shaming yourself, shaming me" He said the same thing his dad would say to him. Then he started walking towards Dee in a threatening manner but stopped himself when he heard him call out Dad looking scared. I'm glad he caught himself there and later apologized. Still though telling him he had no musical talent while praising the other sibling, didn't sit well with me. However, I'm so glad he's trying to break free from the generational trauma. He stopped before actually hurting his son, he apologized when he realized he was being harsh. He kept himself on a timer so they don't spend hours and hours, i think it's a way to keep himself in check. He's a much better dad than his was, generational trauma is hard to shake, but he's trying. He still have a ways to go because at the end of the day Dee did get disheartened by his words and by something that's actually a challenge for him. But he's trying, that's more than many can even claim.
Sebastian's voice is great

Look I know Glam's past is ..less than ideal, but can I just point out how hilarious Glam and Chive's interactions are?😂 I love them together!
Gustav: Buys a fricking gun. Sebastian: This will fit well into my snuff-fiction.
First - sounds awesome Second - but sometimes the acting is a bit off Third - oof, goddamn copyright... the new song sounds pretty good, but when you remember the original episode... Nothing can replace "We're not gonna take it" But it's still 10/10 Good job, guys! Gonna wait for the grand finale to finally present the whole season to my English-speaking penpals
Ikr! No disrespect to AlexVas, but it lacks that emotional punch that Glam received when song started...
agreed, it drives home the feelings glam has much better, but i get they have to do it because of copyright
13:09 Say what you want about Glam’s father, but that face is hilarious.
I know the face is funny the character is so bad
Thank you for pointing that out it's really funny.
Oh my god the intrusive thoughts part was just perfect, as someone who experiences intrusive thoughts a ton it felt pretty relatable yet terrifying in that part 😭 (also my family is amazing and really nice, so don’t shame them if your gonna reply ty)
I’ve never been abused like glam has, but the violent intrusive thoughts are terrifying and relatable.
