  • Which iconic Arnold line is the best of all time? One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate. Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated. Three: “Be nice.” - Dalton from Roadhouse

      @JohnGardnerAlhadis@JohnGardnerAlhadis4 жыл бұрын
    • GraHaz is correct; the predator was NEVER going to be red. That is only for effects shots. Google "original predator suit," and you can see the original design of the Predator, which has a similar body to the final design, but a different head. It's a bit more lizard-like. The final design is better, but the original was fine.

    • Yeah, its a shame they seem to have decided to run the Predator franchise into the ground instead of doing anything actually interesting with it, like the fact that the end of Predator 2 tells us the Predators have been coming to Earth for a very long time, and we know they have a sense of honour. Why cant we get something like Predator vs Samurai, rather than Predator vs A Bigger Predator Also, pretty damning when you realise that Arnie apparently only turned down an appearance in the new one after he read the script.

This is my biggest problems with monster movies these days, sure you can do an all CGI Godzilla and it works much better, but around human size monsters should all be practical effects. There is a reason the best monster movie ever is The Thing, maybe Predator is second to that with the first Alien.

At least Danny Glover beats the shit out of it instead of using traps. You have more than one Predator and yet they die quick unlike the first & second movie. That's like if I had more than one Jason in Friday the 13th but somehow its much easier to defeat them.

Casting the most swole actors in Hollywood, throwing them into an isolated horrific jungle location for weeks, having them get super sick and miserable, and having them do weight lifting competitions every morning to see who was most swole. lol. That kind of context is why the world may never see a movie like this again.

Producer John Davis recounts that Arnold would invite him to workouts. They'd work out for an hour and then run for an hour and Davis got absolutely worn out by it all (since he wasn't a bodybuilder like the others). Carl Weathers said that if he went to the weight room and there were already others working out, he'd get breakfast, wait an hour, and then go in and lift weights when nobody else was there. McTiernan recounts that the insurance company wouldn't let them hire Sonny Landham unless they hired a bodyguard - who was there to protect the rest of the crew from Sonny.

The slow buildup to the alien reveal was really well done, and it was a fantastic way to be introduced to the film! It really is baffling that it opens with a shot of the ship. Though I suppose it’s a moot point, because it’s pretty much impossible to choose to watch Predator without knowing the basic premise, unless you happen to stumble across it like I did.
