About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

    • They are Pineapples. The symbol of welcome and hospitality. Pineapple mats with the symbol or decoration near the door or on front railings are still used all over the southern states of the USA.

I loved hearing the rooster in the background! It's maybe an unintentional yet timeless bit of historical accuracy of the world you're honoring and recreating.

  • I don’t know if anyone else has noticed the design on the railing, but I find it hysterical and fitting. IYKYK 🤣🤣🤣 I truly love everything you’ve done to the château. However, I can’t wrap my brain around white and gold wrought iron. Black is so classic. But, getting to know Terry as we have, he’s turned many things upside down and it’s all been stunning. You keep breaking molds and shine ✨ brilliant Terry!! The door is a showstopper. Wow!! God bless and be safe. ♥️🇫🇷⚜️

  • I love the paint work on the railings, they are now protected from the elements. I love the touch of gold but I don’t think it’s an acorn, I think it’s a pineapple. These railings are the way to the front door and it’s appropriate that visitors would be greeted with a pineapple as it is the motif for hospitality. I love your videos the energy, motivation and artistry is fabulous. I can’t wait to see how you decorate the suites. Keep on cracking on! Neil from Australia 🇦🇺

  • I'm sure others have spotted that your acorn finials are really stylised pineapples (though they do look like pinecones) the traditional symbol of welcome and hospitality. They look fantastic in your 'old gold', and very appropriate considering the welcome you are already giving to visitors to the chateau. As to the design of the railings themselves, well yes, the white paint does bring out another readily recognisable pattern, also wonderfully appropriate, though perhaps in a different way? The new paint really makes the tower entrance look so much more welcoming. I just know you will be painting that grille over the lobby window to match? And hopefully you'll get the tower's glass porches glazed before the winter rains return? Great work on the apartment door glass too, it really sets it off, marking your part of the chateau, and well worth the climb to see it.

  • Omg THE RAILINGS!! I'm so excited to see these done lol. You did a fantastic job, especially with your use of that gold. You did it exactly right. I think though that your acorns are pine cones. It's possible also that they are pineapples in tiny... either way, both are symbols of home and welcoming others. Acorns are generally smooth with fancy leaves holding the bottom or a cap and very round in symbolism. I'm not sure why the people who decided on the symbolism of things put pine cones and pineapples together but I guess they do look really similar. Fibonacci sequence maybe? I think yours are cones because they are slightly open and 🍍 are typically closed and rounded off. Anyway, a bit of trivia to share with your guests... "Throughout the span of recorded human history, pinecones have been a symbol of human enlightenment, resurrection, eternal life and regeneration. Conifers are some of the oldest forms of plant life on earth." How do I mail you a set of clematis from Canada to plant along the railings? And the door is stunning. I don't know why I ever question your choices. I was all "mmmmmm" and squinty eyed over the sticky lead, but it was a genius move.

  • At 14:00 you've read my mind. I was thinking the hole time while she was painting " make that front accent in gold or rose gold please pleaaasseee" whe I saw she paint the hole thing white, I was wondering why they didn't think about that because it's so obvious but then the minute 14:00 come and I was "aaaaaHA! Knew it haha " oh, guy I love your creativity so much. Then I remebered that you should put white first, I also do that when I paint first to protect the surface and then the color will show better over a white coat. I'm just an artist and an engineer who gets too excited when I see creative stuff 😂 I bet Terry would make an excelent interior designer, he is so creative, crafty and talented.
