Bonjour à tous,
Terry & Ash are sent out to do the food shopping ready for all the family to arrive at the château but get a little side tracked and end up in not one but two brocantes shopping for furniture.
The first is one we visit a lot but always find a lovely piece of furniture to take back with us at a great price.
And the second is a new one, another Aladdins cave, filled with beautiful french antiques from floor to ceiling l, but Terry has to work he’s way through it all.
Plus, we have a visit from a wonderful follower who brings us a treasure trove of Items for us, It’s like our very own brocante.
If you like our videos please subscribe to our channel and hit the like buttom on the video as It helps us massively 🙏🥰

About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

  • John handed so many of his treasures over to you because he knew they would be truly loved and cared for. He entrusted them to your wonderful family. It is quite evident that the three of you were very touched by his generosity and appreciated everything he brought. The world needs more people like John.

  • The embroidery that you've received is a small copy of the most famous tapestry "The Lady and the Unicorn" (La Dame a la Licorne). It was done in a style the "mille-fleurs" after "thousand flowers" that decorate the background. The original tapestries of the kind were created in 15th centuries in the Loire valley for the chateaux of the most powerful nobles. The original tapestry consist of 6 panels depicting a lady and the unicorn. Your embroidery shows "A Mon Seul Dessir" (Only at my will) panel depicting a lady returning a necklace to the box, held by her servant. The original tapestry was discovered in the castle of Boussac by the French writer George Sand in 19th century. It was woven in 1490 for the wealthy merchant Jean Le Vistle to celebrate one of his appointments. It was first displayed to the nation in 1853 at the Musee Naional du Moyen Age in Paris and supposedly is there today. This tapestry is considered by many to be the greatest tapestry ever created.

  • The Lady and The Unicorn is a series of six Medieval tapestries found in 1841 in Boussac Castle in France and transferred to the Cluny Museum in Paris in 1863. The tapestries were woven in Flanders from wool and silk for the noble Le Viste family; from designs drawn in Paris around 1500…most likely by the Master of Anne of Brittany. Five of the tapestries are considered to be an allegory of the five senses. Smell, Touch, Taste, Hearing, Sight… The meaning of the sixth tapestry is uncertain: it is is larger than the others, and the only one with an inscription.

  • The world could use a few more John's....a good reminder to pay forward and circulate what we have outgrown. He sounds like another version of Tony; a good and descent man. Brocanting (I think this is fast becoming an English expression) can be fun, perhaps someday Terry will seek out wholesale fabric centres in France for us to further explore and Ash will take us through the established gardens of France and garden centres. What, and I do mean, what, a life you have all created for yourselves! ❤️🇨🇦 Mariya

  • You have been given one of six tapestries of the most famous pieces. La Dame à la licorne. Its unreal that I was watching the history on this on TF1 the other week...

  • I can’t wait to see the railings on the front of the Château sandblasted of rust and then powder coated with beautiful dark green or black and glass installed on the overhangs. One classy château! Beautiful finds John and sweet and kind heart to give to this very grateful family.
