  • I guess this is a reimagined sequel. 🤷🏽‍♀️ In the original series finale the Evans family and Willona and Penny moved out of public housing and bought houses next to each other. They also tore down Cabrini Green - the buildings in the opening and closing credits I believe - so that apartment, technically speaking, doesn’t exist anymore. But it’s TV - you can make anything up.

The black characters in his shows were portrayed positively. In All in the Family, the black neighbor Lionel always gets the upper hand and last laugh on the white lead character. These characters have been loved by many black families over the past fifty years. Based on his entire body of work, I imagine he had little to nothing to do with this when he was still alive. He gets a credit because he created the original show. The sole creator/writer/showrunner is a black woman named Rananda Shepherd. • I’m a white man that group up in a predominantly white community in a home with a single mother working sometimes 3 jobs at a time to keep us fed and living indoors. Even through all that she made time to teach my sisters and I good morals, the value of hard work and that a family sticks together no matter what. I say all that so you understand my position on this show. I started watching reruns of Good Times when I was probably 8 years old. The Evans family was the first black family I watched on television with any regularity, even before the Huxtibles. What I remember seeing on that program along with the jokes I may not have always gotten and the experiences that were not quite like my own was a family that did what needed to be done everyday regardless of what tragedies befell them. They stuck together, did the right things and tried to make it. And I saw a commonality between the Evans family and my own. Obviously our experience wasn’t identical but the show taught me that at the family level we are all just people doing our best to take care of the ones we love. This trailer is so astoundingly offensive I honestly can’t put it in words. Every person connected to this show should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. This is an absolute disgrace. I would guess at this point the only reason the comments are still on is in the hopes that people will hate watch it the way they did Velma. It seems obvious that there is zero interest in creating programming that brings us together as a society anymore.

    • @@zxyatiywariii8 They don't. Netflix like most companies, are woke. Progressive company with progressive ideals. This is an all black cast and writers except maybe McFarlane who is also a liberal as most people in Hollywood and blacks in general. So, Netflix not wanting to be racist probably gives blacks and other "minorities" like gays, asians, hispanic license to do whatever they wants while the white dudes at the top keep their noses out of the productions so as not to get backlash from white bashing media and twitter users or youtube comments. And this is they shit they come up with. So this is on black people. Asians do their own shit like Squid Games, anime, etc and they have their industry in their home countries that doesn't need to pander and go by quotas to please other races or whatever. But in the west, you have to play by the rules and please the investment companies and the new Diversity Equity and Inclusion or DEI gods in the name of tolerance and progression. The end product is usually a mess that looks "racist" created by the same people that politically align with left wing politics that constantly bash "le ebil hecking right wingers" while at the same time not realizing how stereotype and racist a lot of the shit they do comes off and as always the left ends up eating itself by being attacked by their own side.
