This isn't about entertainment it's about degrading a group of people
💯💯💯💯
Thank you. That’s my problem with this.
It's the same as (c)rap
🎯
Yep but they won’t win.
It should be called Bad Times, it's an abomination.
😭
Wow, I’ve heard nothing but bad things about it. Guess I’ll skip it.
@@JapanSpr94 If you saw the original show, you'll understand the betrayal of what this new abomination is and why people don't like it.
🤣🤣🤣
😂 bruh.. I know we suppose to be serious.
Straight Disrespectful
All they had to do was name it something else. The OG Good Times is synonymous with greatness, this joint is synonymous with buffoonery.
Exactly
Funny thing is, John Amos and Esther Rolle were up in arms back in the day because they thought Jimmie Walker was playing up the buffoonery too much.
While JJ tended to buffoon, I did love the characters especially James. In spite of his lack of education and financial stability, he always was a strong patriarch who mad a way and protected his family in a dangerous environment. Florida always showed him respect, even though he wasn’t balling out. She checked him when needed, but it wasn’t malicious and spiteful, like many modern women tend to do.
Even naming it something else wouldn’t take away from how racist and stereotypical it is. We have to strongly discourage media content like this, as it can actually end up harming real people.
Facts it would get some criticism but calling it good times was just a bad look
Im just disappointed at the voice actors who agreed to do this project 😢
First thing I said....
it seems like they have a price and for them the cost of selling out is not high.
That should be a pinned comment because this is why the Black community can’t be taken seriously. We leap and jump for a coin and won’t care about hurting ourselves on the long run. No other group does that.
To be fair, Bern Nadette said she didn't know the show would be presented in this fashion
💰 that's why!
Rip Janet Dubois🕊
She was hilarious in I'm Gonna Git You Sucka.
Rip Esther Rolle🕊
This is not Good Times. Good Times is our story, the true story of poor Black Americans living in a world that doesn’t think you deserve the right to darken their doorstep or better yourself in anyway. Good Times has stood the test of time, because it is an example that, in the worst, most tragic moments, you can survive with family and faith. I’ll say it again, it’s OUR story, one of, our realest realities. You can’t: cut, paste, and copy that onto a new project and disrespect the original.
The theme song doesn't mention that....
no the same people controlled the be happy smiling and dumb narrative they made it your story get mistreated laugh find a lotto ticket give it away get taken advantage of never seek revenge failure is acceptable you need outside help your men cant protect you bad luck is coming never plan ahead it is someone Elses fault you are behaving in an inferior manner the world owes you something the very show was stolen from a black man who is homeless last I checked and made negative the actors were fighting against the brainwashing that worked so well you are saying a story from a man that looks like Norman Leer is OUR story....so sad Norman wants the cartoon to be OUR story too that's what he thinks about you.
@lloydavery7579 it doesnt need to. Black people with common sense understand the context. Willfully Slow af.
@lloydavery7579 smh. Go watch the show smart a**.
💯 agreed. It shouldn't be called goodtimes. Maybe parody it, source from it, but dont shit on it. It should have been called something else. The backlash wouldn't have been as bad.
Need our own media. And NOT Tyler Perry or Oprah ran. I mean OUR own media.
Stop making sense tho. 👊🏾 OUR own media. - Mr. Swift
Tyler Perry and Oprah sold out even before their fame-they are puppets of Soros an Blackrock.
No doubt
Facts
Exactly
This trash is putting a stain on a classic. There’s nothing GOOD about this remake! Period!!!
Exactly 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Prayers for John Amos🙏🏽
Should of just called it Hood Times
That makes sense 😂😂😂
Nailed it.
Nah, We Alright”, lol
That FOR REAL would have been the better choice; at least then they could have marketed it as an over-the-top parody or abridged series.
You told nothing but the truth.
I said when I first saw the trailer I was not going to support it this animated series should not have been greenlighted in my opinion, Good Times is a classic and should not be made fun of in any way just my thoughts.
I agree!
Agred
I can't believe the voice actors who thought this was a good decision... Cree Summer? Yvette Nicole Brown?? How????
I love Good Times, but that is horrible and not like honest blackness.
Totally agree I will continue to watch the classic reruns👏🏾
Fat Albert and the Cosby kids and The pj’s by Eddie Murphy was all that we needed for black folks living in the projects.
Why they always putting us in the projects?!
The trash should've been called "Bebe's Kids: The Next Generation" because that's literally what it represents. I expect to see Suklihanna & Below Average Redd on an episode.
Even BeBes kids wasn’t this bad from what I see in the trailer
@@zsazsa4159You’re badd 🤦🏾♂️
Don't EVEN mention the names of those two "SCALAWAGS." 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
the trailer has da baby, lil baby and baby shooting at a drug dealing baby.
@@teelove4443c'mon now gang
They should have named it "this is not good times"
Or how about “Right Now”
Just like the adult industry parody of Good Times did.
Should be named “ We Alright” lol
Greetings straight up buffoonery in 2024.

There is no substitute for original. U can try but original all the best.
Well they certainly didn't try very hard, that much is evident.
That realization when The Boondocks a anime does a parody of Good Times with respect/ care while also using the same song as the intro vs The modern cartoon remake that doesn't show love or care to its 70s OG show, uses numerous stereotypes for "haha cause its funny" jokes and doesn't even have the decency to use the intro song at all!!
Not many people liked that episode either as it was in season 4 without Aaron
Thelma, Pam Grier and Nichelle Nichols, are great examples of totally stacked and beautiful women from the 70's! Nichols was underrated, but she had it ALL!
Yo Nichelle Nichols was cold especially on Truck Turner
Yes indeed and Lola Falona and Judy Pace also
Pam grier has nothing on bernadette!!! Bernadette she is far more beautiful than Pam grier!!!
I agree, the original is always better than the remake.
What's next? Will they make "The Jeffersons" be a gay couple on the remake?
Obviously.... Since they came out first.
@@Manny-nm8dh"Well we're coming on out, out the closet" 🎵🎵🎵 😂
@@Manny-nm8dh You just gave Disney an idea.
ABSOLUTELY 💯 💯
A modern day minstrel show.
That's what it seems like, and with a TV show so many people love, too. From the original Good Times and even Julia of the 1970s to this? Sad.
It is apparent the original good times actors were not shown the new animated versions at all. I'm positive if they had shown John Amos the trailer his words wouldn't be vague.
If John Amos had issues with representation in the original series, it's pretty clear he will disown this trash.
@@meowco69 the show fell off hard after his exit too, I stopped watching after James died, I had heard it got worse after he died and I loved his character so much I didn't even wanna bother continuing
Something tells me that Amos has not seen the trailer!
LEAVE IT ALONE!! PERIOD!!

This was elevated talk right here 😂Good stuff
this is so sweet😂 thank you
Well, you make a show of this quality because of the audience. The current audience lacks the knowledge of so-called black people in this country, so what does Netflix do to make it a mockery? No historical frame or content. I wonder, if a show about the holocaust was made into a comedy, what would the response be? The so-called black experience in Amerikkka is a spectacle for others to enjoy.
I believe that there is audience out there for what the original good times was, but they took the easy route and went to geared the new show to lowest form just like the music industry.
@@EyeOfTheWatcher That is true and the reason why TP is famous. Our experience is always a mockery. I'm waiting for the person to leave the comment. It's not that serious to prove my point.
Yeah I don’t blame Netflix, they didn’t create the show, the creators are to blame.
@@zsazsa4159Netflix could have turned them down like Prime every other studio and streaming service did
Best comment on here
I don't understand why they didn't just use a different name? All these reboots are ridiculous. Animation is normally funny but Good Times had some heavy subject matter. I think this was a bad movie on Netflix part especially wit how John Amos felt about the original series and Norman Lear's thievery.
And Bernadette stains she's not feeling the reboot
there was no need to remake good times in the first place, but they are using that name to make a terrible minstrel show based on what I have seen thus far. Not surprising that the black people that work on the show is defending it because it is their meal ticket.
This is not even a remake from what I've seen so far.
Definitely they will have a hard time to get it back up to that level.
I just want what Bernadette is having😂 she looks amaZING... no added hormones ❤
Anything for a check I guess…
Rip Keith, wilona , Florida and bookman. Shout out to: James , jj , thelma, Michael.
Why don’t Netflix create an animated cartoon of “All in The Family too?”
Don't give them any more ideas.. Next they'll come for Sanford and Son and The Jeffersons. The strip mining will continue until all that was good and beloved is reduced to trash. Golden Girls has had several attempts to re make it.
Nothing like the OG good times sitcom!
Yo, I can’t help but think that this was done as a TEST to see how Black Americans would react & respond, as well as all the other Ethnic American 🇺🇸 Groups!!!
I have written my thoughts on the animated series. As kings and queens, we have a moral responsibility to show, who and what we can do, and to put us in a positive light. From what the world sees is a few people who have made mistakes, but that is not us as a whole. Out sisters and brothers come together and speak with one voice. We must be on the same page?
I wouldn't be surprised if they was paying the remaining original cast to not diss the reboot
I’m glad this guy is still here and responded whew Chile.
Are we lacking creativity so badly that we have to reach back 50 years, to do a re-make?
Yep
Nope. Netflix just didn't want to green light quality projects, so instead they green lit this garbage. Seriously, so much fight goes into getting black shows green lit because Hollywood doesn't want us being represented respectfully. Black creatives really have to fight to be able to get their shows aired, and they also face issues with the execs wanting to change the direction in favour of making the show more disrespecful and full of stereotypes. Shows like Girlfriends and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air almost didn't get green lit because the execs didn't think it was 'realistic' to show rich, bougie black people.
Ikr 🤦🏾♀️

GOOD SOMEBODY FINALLY RESPONDED 😑This will be a NO🚫NO🚫NO🚫NO🚫NO🚫for me. Norman Lear FAKE creator. The Original creators are Eric Monte and Mike Evans. And to all the writers and producers that do not understand black culture and Black people that are still making a mockery out of us. And I love comedy, but to laugh at and to be laughed at sorry they can do better with putting comedy inspiration and motivation, and also putting the real struggle, not making a mockery of our culture making a mockery of the essence. Which That is us. PS I looked at that whole trailer from beginning to end, and I did not laugh😑 not one time i’m not knocking anybody that watches it, but just know what it represents and know that even if you watch one episode, you are still giving them viewership
Contact Ralph Carter he still lives in brooklyn N.y. I know you guys can do it.
Should have named it “Sexy Red takes over black America”
I can't stand her, I've seen racists on twitter pull up a video of her and say "this is why I'm racist" or "go back to the jungle" it's women like her and shows like this that are creating racists! I swear the 1960s was a more peaceful time than this.
Esther Rolle is rolling over in her grave. This is straight up disrespect and Netflix better pull the plug!
I find this disrespectful, and I am not watching
I hope the show fells like The Color Purple did also
That is not a remake of Good Times...next
At all
Why couldn't the cartoon take place in a 1970s style look and vibe but in a modern world? Like the Brady bunch movie ( 1995)?
You mean a style like what F is For Family did?
The trailer reviews are not mixed. For this to be so, there has to be some people that love the trailer. As far as I can tell, those people are quiet😅
Watch it yesterday it was hilarious
Slink sellout Johnson 😅😅😅
They all sold out for bag, even J+J and Thelma did 😢
A follow-up is needed seeing they haven't viewed the content of the previews and the animated series. I know their stand will change.
I agree wit John Amos 1000%. The original was about real life situations. It gave u all kinds of emotions & opinions. By the looks of the animated version seem like how parents r wit their kids.. now! Letting them do what they want. I'll still check it out to see how it run.
Mixed reviews? i thought the trailer was panned?
Thelma couldn't POSSIBLY BELIEVE this cartoon is worthy of her to participate. They obviously made her a offer she couldn't refuse, and that's the definition of a... Sell Out. What people do for money. 😕
Damn, damn, damn...
Dynomite 🧨 😂
I think JohnAmos and Bern Nanette Stanis were being diplomatic, but they were also being too nice. I’ve seen the trailer for this series, and that’s all I want to see of the show. I’m also hoping the new show does not keep its head above water.
They hadnt even seen the trailer yet. Bernadette has 'now' seen it and is coming down hard on it.
The new good times is actually a pretty good background show while you’re doing something completely unrelated to watching it 😂 I can’t lie the lil baby, dababy and baby (bird man) bit was kinda funny
I’m not gonna acknowledge it, I’m always going to prefer OG good times to this. I actually had the pleasure of meeting John Amos, he’s great. I met him twice, he came to my school.
It was a matter of time. They have been messing with all beloved tv shows and movies with "updated for modern audiences" People dont complain till its their turn.
No, no, and no! Reject all buffoonery! We need to hit hard those associated with this. Bernadette (sp) should not have let her voice to it at all. Use lawyers to get it back and not appear at all. John Amos remarks were too safe for Hollyweird. 😢

Respect Amos!
I doubt if John Amos genuinely cares anything about this, especially since he was given the heave-ho from the original.
You forget Bernadette stains
@@thegreatone9461 Perhaps she cares, but I don't know why John Amos would. He lost his job decades ago because he argued against this kind of black portrayal.
@@Lionel-ls6rb she didn't want to be involved in to the trash reboot
They just shouldn't of called it GOOD TIMES. It should of been called something else. However still the stereotypes of this show will not change on how it portrays black people.
My thing is that the original sitcom was designed, seemingly as a wholesome family entertainment sitcom that taught good morals and lessons as well as being wholesomely funny because the banter the family the original show felt organic. But the way this new series looks, it’s throwing all of that away
John Amos should give it, THE BIG MAC!
Hard time...NOT EVEN CLOSE. LOL!! WE ARE NOT CONFUSED, WE CLEARLY SEE WHAT TIME IT IS. DON'T SUPPORT IT!!
LETS NOT DEFLECT HOLDING ONE WHITE AND LATIN accountable for this and lets put energy into the rest of the creators who are ALL BLACK because none of them said No they said YES to this foolishness and this is the real problem. When will the community want and do better!?
I always respected John Amos for speaking up regarding some of the writing on the original show, although he paid a price for it.
John Amos was so gracious with his answer about how he thought this animated version would do. I think he knows like we all do that this hot garbage is going to fail miserably but he’s so big hearted he won’t say it that way. The big question is: who is this show made for? It’s clearly not for black people and I can tell that white people wont feel welcomed watching it either. What were the writers trying to prove by making this hot mess?
Everyone keep in mind that this was meant to entertain white people, not us.

I can't get angry at the new voice actors. Work is work. Hating someone for taking a job, when the next one might not materialize for months. It's like saying no to a free lunch when you aren't sure when your next meal is coming.
Its horrific… not gonna watch any minute more of it
I kind of stop watching the original Good times When they killed the father off I-PASS
This should've be called Bad Times😢
Some things are best left ALONE....and this is definitely one of em !!!!!!
I might cancel my subscription now.
They are being diplomatic about the new show. Personally the video clips I've seen of it are a disgrace.
I wonder what streaming services has the original show so I can watch it.
The original can never be duplicated
Amos & Rolle fought hard to maintain the moral standards. I will not be watching this madness.
They should have named it something else
I hope Janet aka Esther's age at 58 next month speaks out on this too. Esther was the oldest actor on the show.
They put it really classy. For something that didn’t deserve it.
Wow smh
It's not going to get better. The trailer is a representation of what the show is about. There were no weird editing tricks used we saw garbage and the show will be garbage.
This could have been a heartwarming series about Family and Growth.I
I appreciate the fact that they as actors and professionals of that ilk decided because they had not actually seen any type of footage from the new series, reserve their right, not to really comment. I haven’t seen it as of yet and not sure if I would want to just the same.
Very disrespectful to even make that animation
Slink "Fleece" Johnson.
I just found out about the "Good Times " animated series. With BernNadette & John Amos giving it a thumbs down means it has to be horrible. 💁🏾♂️
The messages and the level of consciousness surrounding black life and issues that the original show created, requires a vehicle that best presents the seriousness and significance of its themes. A cartoon falls short of this requirement. In my opinion, it would be like having a dinner celebration to honor the beloved matriarch/patriarch of the family and seating them at the kid's table. Not only do they deserve better, but we could do better.
Ill stick with Yasuke the Black Samurai over this trash on Netflix
