Black people on social media would have no problem canceling Yara Shahidi. However, since it's Marsai Martin that they love they will give her a pass. 😒 Yara >>>> Marsai. Idc what anyone has to say. • They're also mocking things that have been proven true like the government bringing drugs and illegal firearms to black American communities, and the true identity of biblical figures. It's like the show makers are saying "HERE! Take your pro-blackety black black narratives and STFU!". This is their way of admitting things in the most passive aggressive way possible. As far as I'm concerned, Netflix is now on the list of things that need to go.

Famous Cartoonist J.J visiting to teach a Community Art Class.. Willona's Boutique Store opening in the Neighborhood..Social Worker Penny (Adult Age) helping a abused kid in the Neighborhood. ..Thelma's husband Keith would be a retired football player now sports broadcaster...Maybe have Florida come to the community center to teach a Home Ec class...They could have had them moved on up from the projects to a fancy neighborhood...kinda like with the Jeffersons...No more Project life.. And The Messiah Jesus Christ is not some lazy passive king sitting around playing video games. I know Seth MacFarlane was confronted by the ADL years ago about a skit he did against the Jews. But that is nothing compared to the degrading imagery that is seen in this sitcom. This insults our history, our inheritance and the legacy The Most High God is building through the lives of His people. • It seems like every character is supposed to represent a kind of school of thought in the black community. Kind of like a political satire in the tradition of boondocks. But the issue is that boondocks was a satire written from the black perspective. This show seems to be written in a way that’s from the white boomer or even gen x perspective looking into the lives of black people in a way that lacks curiosity about how different ways of thinking about black issues interact within the black community and with mainstream society. It inspires or appeals to reactionary thinking. We aren’t in on the joke in this show so it feels hollow

    • You're right. The characters aren't written in a way that their stereotypical behavior is seen as "bad", "tragic", or dysfunctional. NO it's meant to be seen as "funny", and when things are presented in this way they're adopted not avoided. Teenagers will watch this show and start quoting things said and eventually emulate the behavior. None of this is accidental in my opinion. The desired outcome is for black Americans to continue to embrace the dysfunctional behavior that has destroyed us.

It perpetuates a negative mindset to our people, they do with all entertainment, They did it with the fresh Prince of bel air, turning a prominent upscale educated rich black family, into criminals. The. Black actors and writers co-sign it to lil our people to sleep. It’s strategic in every way. Being in the ghetto, does not mean you have to be ratchet, dirty, ignorant, unhealthy, criminal, and violent. Yt people ain’t gotta put guns in the hood for negros to shoot each other, they just pay rappers to perpetuate it. This shit Chess not checkers.

  • im so very upset about this reboot. im about to be 34. Good Times was before my time, but growing up my mom and dad watched a lot of old tv shows. Good Tines, the jeffersons, different strokes, etc. i absolutely loced good times. i was drawn to it. i loved the message, i loved the comedy, the cast. it was just fun and a good show. the fact seth took this and made it into some ghetto trash is pissing me off. These older black shows were somewhat pioneers of their time. back then you didnt see many positive black families or people on tv. so the content they provided was needed, it showed what it was like being a normal black person and family in america. it showed us in a different light than the racist stereotypes they hyped in the media. So this and other shows like it were important to the culture. and for him to take this and make a mockery of it, honestly really hurts and pisses me off. funny enough, my dad went to school with and played football with Bernnadettes husband Kevin. they were friends since high school, and when they came to towns years ago (i was a teenager at the tine so early 2000s) i got to meet them because Kevin called my dad and wanted to meet up and reminisce about old times. my parents took me and my older sister to dinner with them because i was a huge fan of Thelma on the show. Bernnadette is an amazing woman. i feel like if they knew what the show was gking to actuay be lkke, none of the cast would be ok with this. its an atrocity. i hope it fails so hard.

They began to write Jimmy walker character over the top after Norman Lears team took over creative control. That’s why Esther Rolles character Florida was off the show for a while. Because they had morals and integrity, and the show had real issues about the black communities that were dealt with positively. This not a product of bad fruit. It’s Straight garbage, and negative propaganda against black people.
