  • Thanks so much for sharing your story. I'm really sorry about your mom. I'm on WW and working on losing 150 lbs (40 down so far), and it's really encouraging to hear how you lost your weight. And your grocery haul/what I eat in a day videos are so funny! I feel like we could be friends if we lived in the same place and I wasn't a broken shell of a human! :)

    • Jenny, don’t be a broken shell. Things will get better. Life is hard for sure. I have lost over 100 pounds and have kept it off for 3 1/2 years. I am 63 and have lost weight 3-4 times. As I have gotten older and my health was being affected, I knew it was time to straighten up. I have had a tummy tuck and work hard to maintain my weight, I never ever thought I would be here. Never ever give up on yourself. You will be so surprised how quickly the time goes by and you will be where you want to be. Immerse yourself in all the WW you tubers. They are all so motivating. Good luck on your journey. Enjoy it, enjoy your changing body and also, try new recipes. Xxxx

  • Wow, thank you for sharing your life story. I also have a parent, father, who is over 500 lbs and lives in a nursing home at the young age of 60. It's so painful to watch them kill themselves and then also it's hard because I'm so scared to become like him. I am at my highest weight of 320 lbs and just started WW two days ago.

    • He needs to have his testosterone, thyroid, and blood sugar levels checked. Low testosterone causes grumpy old man syndrome, and weight gain. With that weight level, his estrogen is probably high. His blood sugar and cortisol levels are probably all screwed up. Get all of this corrected and you will see a new person emerge.

    • @@andymariebarron10 He passed away almost 3 years ago. He passed way to early and suffered a lot because he was way too proud to accept help. He viewed getting help as a weakness.... It still angers me to this day. I pleaded with him to get a diabetic insulin pump. After he passed, I saw his blood sugar meter history. It was consistently in the 200-350 range. He went completely blind, full neuropathy in the legs. He was clearly wheezing heavily a week before his pulmonary embolism. But he would flat out respond that he is not wheezing. My mom was useless in helping with anything. She had no interest in learning anything about diabetes and constantly brought him fast food. The nurses and doctors would just give her dirty looks about her whole attitude. I am rambling lol. But I grew up in one socially fuked up family situation. After I spent so much time and effort trying to help him. The family had the attitude of basically. He was just his own guy, people die. I remember my brother just got out of one of his many jail/prison/halfway house/rehab, fuk who knows stints. He is the type who just shows up when he needs something. Actually brought him Wendy's in the ICU! The nurses asked him, are you out of your mind? Do you not understand that we are working around the clock to bring his dangerous blood sugar levels down?

    • @@andymariebarron10 I am coping with the loss as best as one can. I appreciate your caring words. I will admit that I am really overweight myself. I am about 6ft and 265lbs. I just started testosterone therapy earlier this year, but haven't put in the serious effort needed to lose the weight. I am going to start eating better and at least taking my dog for a walk in the afternoon. I would still be overweight. But I would be happy to be 200lbs or less.

  • Hi! I just found your channel today while searching for WW grocery hauls. I watched that, and then I started watching some of your other videos. Thank you so much for sharing your story, I know that was not easy. My mom passed away 2 years ago, I know that it changes your life in a way that you can never prepare for. I have over 100 pounds to lose and listening to you talk about your journey is inspirational. You would make a great WW group leader!

  • You are the best Kim! I can only imagine how complicated and very difficult your relationship was with your mom. And how much you struggled internally over all those years. You are someone to admire. The strength, determination and the introspection that allowed you to grow.. its truly wonderful! Congrats to you. And as a 55 year old mom.. have no regrets about your relationship. Your mom understood so much during those difficult times and loved you through all of them.

    • Probably the most important thing you have taught me - I'm not sure if it's in this video or another one - is that it's actually even more of an accomplishment that you've been keeping the weight off - even more of an accomplishment than losing the weight in the first place. I really have been trying to accept that and internalize the the idea that this is a lifestyle, not a diet. This is life.

Your understanding of all you have been through on your journey and of what others have contributed (good and not so good) to that journey is very insightful and instructive. It is clear to me that you will continue to be successful in maintaining your healthy lifestyle because you have figured out all of the different elements, psychological, biological, nutritional, emotional, personal and spiritual that have brought you to this point and will guide you to even greater heights, even if there are valleys along the way. You are so humble. You are an inspiration to me..

I lost a bunch of weight in my twenties..but then after I also lost my mom to dementia and a best friend to a obesity related heart attack at 37 i ended up gaining over 60pounds and then 20..a month ago my doctor told me I had to lose weight and stop smoking and drinking. I have knee issue and disc issues in my spine and high blood pressure..I may need surgery for ovarian issues. But at my heaviest weight (267- I’m 5’ 9) they are vastly afraid of complications. I started WW a month ago and i feel like im finally free. My life is calmer and I am loving myself more. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
