Ryan, between clenched teeth: "Don't. Look. At it."
9:00, Notice the description of the water as "warm". In my experience, the water inside of these slides is typically cold, or room temperature, but far from warm. That wasn't water, it was the still warm blood of the little girl flowing down the tube. It is also a working theory that the warm water is actually pee, as brought to my attention by the replies.
i thought the exact same thing!! It's such a small detail, but when you know that the kid is almost definitely dead, you pick up on stuff like that and it gives me chills! This story was so good.

This is an urban legend in the water park near my area. Only difference is no one noticed that she was missing for hours so dozens of people slid underneath her. She was found when a lifeguard slid down slowly with a flashlight after a few people mentioned that it felt like they hit something halfway down the slide.
Jesus christ dude, that's morbid, you're just sliding down and your head just slightly bumps something. Then they just think, "Must've been the roof..."
Shane saying "you're gonna die" before sending someone down the slide as a lifeguard is maybe the realest lifeguard activity in this whole thing.

Have you ever been to a pool?

I worked as a lifeguard at an amusement park. They DEFINITELY do this, but idk we were usually excited to ride something while on the clock
"I was the last person to see her" - the real horror story. It'd suck if someone went missing and ended up dead or something and you were their last contact. You're immediately a suspect.
Yeah but how would they explain the state of her body in a waterslide like that? Nobody going down a waterslide is going to have enough time to do all of that.
This story genuinely terrified me. In Sierra Vista, Arizona when I was 10, there was this place called "The Cove" and there was this huge swirl slide that was pitch dark that would lead into this separate pool. I was wearing a somewhat oversized bathing suit (I was a very small bodied kid) and got stuck in the middle of the slide. I didn't realize I was stuck because I couldn't see anything, and when the realization hit me I was yelling for help but nobody could hear me. I squirmed and tried to wiggle out, panicking, and could barely breathe because I it was so hot and humid. I felt like the walls were getting smaller and it felt like time was slowing down. I even tried to take off my bathing suit bottom but the water rushing down the slide made it hard to get them off. I sat there crying and screaming for help, until eventually with all my squirming, my bathing suit bottom tore. I slid down bare butt and flopped into the pool. The lifeguard was at the bottom angry telling me not to play around in the slide until she saw me bare bottomed and sobbing that I was "stuck." She was talking to my mom and when I heard how long I was in there for, I broke down. Almost 10 minutes I was stuck in there and nobody even came for me. Its scary because the last time I was there, I nearly drowned in the big pool because they have automated waves that are way too strong, and I ended up stuck underwater beneath this very large lady with a float tube as the waves pushed us at the same time. I never went back, and to this day I am terrified of pools and water slides.
damn......😮☹
I’m so sorry that must’ve been terrifying

“nothing bad ever happens on the lazy river.” me who almost drowned in a lazy river: haha
Honestly I think it’s one of the riskiest rides in the water park, because people relax and let’s their guard down. They bring their children of all ages and bc of that false sense of security, you forget it’s an ongoing current that does not slow down nor does it stop, that’s scary
Oh my vod same
Same Bro.

Basically everyone should not forget that when at pools and water parks you are in water, and when you're around a lot of water that danger of drowning is always there (heck you can drown in a small amount of water). So don't forget that but also don't let that fact ruin your fun. It's being around that many people I don't like, if I could I'd love to have my own personal lazy river.

Wouldn't they have to wait for the police to investigate the slide? Also I love that in this story it is kind of a public horror happening, in most of the stories only the protagonist experiences the terrifying events, but here the whole town is aware.
The protag felt personally responsible, which is probably what compelled them to persevere instead of waiting for law enforcement.

As someone who has worked at a waterpark, Shane sounds like the kind of person who would have ruined my day in the most frustrating way. Also, the scariest thing is knowing that this would most definitely not have closed down the park. People die in those places and the same ride is opened the next week.
Okay but they usually don't bleed all over everything after being blatantly murdered, right? I would think it's mostly stuff like drowning or heart attacks? That should be fairly easy to cover up for staff and easy to ignore for pool-goers. If you see the water go red from blood and then the body of a little girl crashes onto the floor of the empty pool, I'd think it's hard to forget that. Everybody would know about it and I doubt many would want to go there afterwards.

Yeah, after Caleb Schwab... no thanks.
Water parks are basically unregulated. That is the main issue.
Honestly one of the best stories thus far. I think the reason behind it being so scary is the fact that you’re literally trapped in an enclosed space with the thing scaring you. The protagonist also has no way to leave other than following the way the body went…. That’s terrifying… Amazing story!
i've always thought waterslides were creepy as hell and just unsafe in general. i just didn't understand how the huge ones were so popular. it's a huge tunnel and you can't be seem from the outside and if you somehow get hurt or stuck rescue is gonna take a hell lot of work, that assuming someone hears you. id always think "what if i somehow moved in a weird way and ended up breaking my arm?" idk lmfao

I would try to climb back up the slide because if i went down, i would go through the blood and the monster might be there or i will land on hard cement or worse on the girl but with a slide that long and a lot of twists, it would take long and be terrifying, i guess going down is the faster option
@@jessicao-o165 As a kid who used to climb up sides, it is super hard, I imagine more so when it’s that small and long. Especially since he was at the end of the slide, it was way easier to keep going. Though them draining the pool makes it way more dangerous in reality.

This story reminds me of a recurring nightmare I had as a kid. In the dream I would be going down one of those big enclosed tube slides you get in soft play areas (not a waterslide but close enough) but near where the end should be, the slide forks in two and I end up going off on the 'wrong' tube. It quickly gets narrower and narrower until I am stuck in this weird offshoot tube that I can't climb out of because it's too steep. The dreams were always particularly vivid and realistic making them even worse. For some reason this stuck with me and I have had variations of this same nightmare multiple times throughout my life. Horror you don’t see is fun to write, you can play with the natural instinct to imagine the horror for yourself.
I’ve just started watching these and the stories need to chill with the “smile”. For me, the girl smiling added an element that the story didn’t need, whereas the image of a completely lifeless body just on the top of the chamber is chilling. It might just be me, but it just takes me out of the story as it feels like the writer is now trying to scare you, instead of making you feel it organically
I agree
That was in my opinion the best story and story telling in this series yet. Simply for the fact that it wasnt as obviously fake as most the others. Reasons I’m scared of water slides: water parks are gross, what if I get stuck, whatever this episode has to offer
I don't worry about it so much with slides as they're manufactured to be a uniform size the whole way, typically. But I think about this whenever I see videos of people going into rock formations on shorelines of lakes/rivers/oceans where it makes a natural tunnel or slide. Like. If you think you have a chance of getting stuck, go down head first. If you go down feet first and get stuck that means there's not much space around you, and if the flow rate of water going down exceeds the flow rate of the water that manages to get by you then the water will start backing up and eventually your head will be under water... but head first you don't have to worry about that. Yeah, there's the issue of blood rushing to your head and causing problems, but that's not as immediate as water getting backed up and drowning you. Just did a really random bit of research on how long it takes for water to go through you. On an empty stomach it can go through you in as little as 5 minutes. So if the backup fills up slow enough you could maybe drink the water and then pee it out as that should be below the blockage (assuming it's someone's midsection). Lotta chlorine from the pool water... but still probably better to try it than just drowning... Another reason to not do stuff in water right after eating... (despite the original reason for that being false and made into a wive's tale).
out of all of the Are You Scared? episodes, this one is genuinely my most favorite, from story telling, narration, and drawings.
I just searched ocean meadows for fun as I was listening to the story and turns out, a ten year old girl actually died riding a water slide on her first ride. It happened in London though and is not related to this story but I thought its really sad :( Maybe the author got her inspiration from that.
That’s actually such a coincidence, I came up with Ocean Meadows on my own & I never heard of this. It’s such a tragedy though :(
For a season finale I think it would be a cool idea to try out 40-60 minute stories. I’m always longing for more at the end of these. Thanks for making awesome videos!

My neck bent oddly when I went on a closed one but it was tiny and recommended for children so it was my fault. I still go on closed ones but only if they are wide
Man I'm scared of the open ones. Especially them 90° & 180° angled ones. I constantly fear "What if I fall out of this slide?" :/

@@qxiror5701 kzhead.info/sun/abWfYrCBoHWVn5s/bejne.html Here's a video by Dr. MamaJones going over why you Should be afraid of water slides.
@happymama Here's my comment saying you shouldn't be afraid of a waterslide, just because you have a 2% chance of death.
As someone with severe anxiety I really don’t know why I watch these videos
man, I gotta say, Ryan's spooky-speaking voice has really gotten amazing over the years. ASMR++
Shane going with "Wet Dreams" as a way to close out the show is truly hilarious to me
Shane and Ryan: "Lifeguards are attractive and cool" Me, who is neither, but is a lifeguard: 😎😎😎😎😎
As someone who's claustrophobic those small close waterslides always freaked me out I was always afraid I'd get stuck
We are all here for Ryan's "That's disgusting what shape" It perfectly embodies Watcher
As jaded person that has listened to a lot of "true scary stories" my first thought is: Isn't it dangerous to go down the slide like that if the kid is possibly stuck and hasn't gone through the other end?
I'm p sure they're doing all fictional stories for this season. But I think it might be dangerous? Might push the kid the wrong way or the force might injure them
As someone who worked in a place with a few rides (not a waterpark tho) my immediate reaction is that he should have radioed his supervisor first. A coworker of mine got in serious trouble for not radioing for help after a ride started malfunctioning (no one was injured).
They've all been fake since the end of the first season
It sounded like he went down carefully/slowly.
exactly my thoughts - theoretically, if she were stuck somewhere in the slide (and i suppose she was, in the end) he would have full force throat-kicked this ten year old down to the bottom, dead or alive.
Shane sounds like the puppet guy who teaches history.
Taught* Rip to a real one
@guy dude why would they when its a BANGER every time

I've been binging this series lately and this is easily the scariest one I've heard yet. Ryan is such a good storyteller and having Shane around to keep things relatively light is definitely a major help lmao
There are so many true horror stories about unmaintained and untested water slides and rides, this perfectly captured some of that realism with a touch of the uncanny!
Good luck to Ryan and their fiancé on organising the future wedding!
“Do you remember the thrill of going down a water slide as a child?” Yes I’m in one right now
A child or a waterslide?
@@justthecoolestdudeyo9446 Why not both?
A child or a water slide ?
If Shane was a lifeguard, I would feel the safest. That man is hella level headed.
i love this story because unlike the usual “are you scared” stories, this one has somewhat of an ending. yes we still don’t know what or who did that to lily but i think this story is horrifying because of the gruesome details of the bloody state of lily. god this has to be my favorite by far.
Title: Are you scared of water slides? Me, who knows what Action Park is: YES
Accurate
"That's disgusting...What shape?" had me laughing
This is the first one thats legit scared me. I thought the Kisaragi station was the best one so far but this one came shortly after! Best music so far too.
“This is are you scared?” *looks at title “Don’t look at it” “I looked at it”
Honestly the scariest part of this video was thinking the sponsor for this episode was gonna be crypto/nft based
I thought this story was gonna be super silly and ridiculous but it ended up being one of my favorites that they read on the channel! I guess it goes to show no matter the prompt, a good writer can make it spooky 🤣
Thank you!
@@nerdycassidy Oh you’re the writer! That’s so cool! Your story was really well written! I enjoyed this episode of Are You Scared so much 😂 You definitely have a gift :D Please continue to write more spooky stories!
@@orenji196 thank you so much!!!
"Are you scared?" - No, I am sad :'( those last lines from the protagonist were so heartbreaking. really good story!!
the descriptions in this one are visceral. The cement part made me gasp. Like insult to injury but in the most disturbing way.
I want that buddy comedy where Ryan and Shane play lifeguards. 😂
Guy: *raises hand* me if I were Savannah: No you dont. Call a mecanic. Lets cut this thing up. Guy: But my guilt-- Me: *No.*
The idea that they'd send a person to go crawling through an empty waterslide without any safety equipment, is really immersion breaking.
@@ArgentAtelier There's also the fact that a kid just got stuck in there and had lost a lot of blood, so it's so not safe
@@ArgentAtelier You would be surprised how many businesses ignore safety procedures or let them lapse.
I'm torn between how absurd letting an employee scramble down a dry, corpse-bearing slide would be, and knowing that places like Action Park have existed.
@@Whatlander After that, who’s to say it’s not impossible? Plus, no one else showed up fast enough. You can lose a lot of blood and still survive too. But yeah. You want to say it shouldn’t and couldn’t happen, but then Action Park existed and some of these places run on a “hold my beer” mentality when it comes to management and safety.
This is always something that scares me about amusement parks in real life, how screams of horror could be easily mistaken for excitement. I dread anyone ever getting injured on a ride and not being noticed or recognised as being in danger
I wonder if this was based off of the Schlitterbahn KC incident. The "World's tallest water slide" was a three person raft and it went airborne on a bump and this poor 10 year old was decapitated. Most of the rides didn't comply with safety guidelines and the park was shut down. I had many friends complain of scrapes and scratches from the slides. It has since has been turned into a shopping area. If not based on it, still a really well written scary story.
I can confidently say no. The inspiration was much more mundane. Respecting the author, my daughter, I won’t reveal her creative process with this story. Suffice it to say no children were harmed whatsoever in the birth of this story.
@@melissaelliott1903 I see! Thanks for the clarification. I'm still extremely impressed. It's a very well written story and I hope your daughter continues to write more in the future!
the sad thing about that situation was the kid that died was the kc’ schliterbahns owners kid.
@@aarontipton877 wasn’t it the mayors kid?
This is too close to what happened at the Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas. A 10 year old boy was decapitated on the world’s highest water slide. It was all over the news here for a while
Until the description once they found her, I kind of thought it would end like that accident did. Feels like the author changed the exact manner of death to be supernatural instead to avoid that?
Hearing the things Shane says makes me feel less alone in my weirdness. It's so nice to see another grown person have strange thoughts and just say them!
ASTORY HAS NEVER CREEPED ME OUT AS MUCH AS THIS
5:17 I really love how the artist drew this girl. She’s so beautiful
“Don’t look at if!” “I looked at it!” Best part of the into! Lol
