This one still hurts as I’m a big fan of Charles Oliveira, to lose so many times to the point people disregard you or see you as a gatekeeper at best, just to prove people wrong by not giving up and working hard to become a world champion! Truly inspiring. No shame in losing to Makhachev as he’s an absolute beast but I do hope Charles can bounce back, not saying he would win in a rematch but I hope he comes back stronger and better
No shame losing to islam There are levels to this game
He will never beat Islam he only beat strikers that were scared to follow him to the ground but Islam destroyed him
I feel like if he really wants to be champion again and finds that drive and comes back stronger defensively and still be the same how he was before then he has a very good chance at beating Islam, you already know the Islam fans like to disrespect and disregard all the skills that Charles has but I think his biggest issue is just the mental aspect of his game, if he can just put it together then It'll be very interesting
@@sickheadjoker1421 I think that Islam is better of course, but Charles didn’t fight how he usually fights against Islam. He was too emotional and tried too hard to knock him out. Loading up, trying to land flashy stuff. I get that’s his style but he needs better head movement and needs to fight with Less emotion. I think he would definitely put up a better fight if he did so.

@@AAstarda 280 was one of the sickest ppv's ever. Darius vs gamrot, Brady vs belal, omalley vs yan, islam vs Charles, dillashaw vs aljo(despite the unfortunate shoulder injury, still hype about his return). This card was, for lack of a better word: STACKED.

Cody vs Dominic is easily the most prolific because of how good Garbrandt looked. Truly a beautiful showcase of “losing at your own game”.

This is one of the things that made Fedor so special, he outstruck the best striker in Crocop and beat the best grappler in Big Nog in his guard.

we could easily have a part 2 of this one. there's a lot to mention like Volkanovski vs Holloway 3, GSP vs Hughes 2, Gane vs Rozenstruik, and now Pavlovich vs Tuivasa.
Not a great list. Volk vs Holloway 3 I can get behind but GSP vs Hughes 2? Don't you mean GSP vs Hughes 3 because GSP knocked out Hughes in their second fight, and subbed him in the trilogy fight. Gane vs Rozenstruik was forgettable and didn't even end in a knockout. Also there's a much better argument for Tuivasa vs Lewis than against Pavlovich because Lewis got beaten at his own game by Tuivasa, whereas Pavlovich steamrolled both guys in typical Pavlovich fashion.
@@madgavin7568 GSP beat Hughes in rematch in his own game. Matt Hughes like to disguise his wrestling by pressure forward striking and GSP defended really well and he was the one who was pepperring Hughes over and over til he KOd him eventually.
@@eetfuk3571 Hughes wasn't known for knocking guys down and out though. He was a GnP artist but he was not a great striker. St-Pierre meanwhile, was a very good striker and he always held that advantage over Hughes.

Olvera dent just lose he got absolutely destroyed he only beat strikers who were scared to follow him to the ground but when he fought a grappler he got destroyed
@@chindub6563 Chandler did everything he could to stomp Oliveira in the first round. he was badly looking for the finish, he wasn't scared on the jiujitsu threat. Oliveira fought the who's who, grappler or striker that is prepared for hm. Islam was just better at him that night. Oliveira beat a lot of grapplers too.

Honestly, Islam finishing the submission specialist isn't nearly as big of a statement as people keep saying. Being the greatest submission specialist doesn't translate to your ability to get out of submissions or endure them (e.g. Volk-Ortega, round 3). If Charles had a history of never being submitted and got submitted, that would mean way more.
The reason it's a statement is because Islam went to Charles's world and beat him when very few could, especially when Charles was at his prime and most dangerous. It's a massive statement, people like you who misconstrue the event downplay the significance.
