The UFC is filled with amazing fighters but a few of them change into the mythical versions of themselves once the moment needs it. An alter ego version of themselves, a version that seems unbeatable or simply the name we meme'd them to be.
Chapters:

1:45 - 4:48 "Patient" Ngannou
4:48 - 8:35 "Picogram" Jon Jones
8:35 - 11:33 "Knocked Down" Oliveira
11:33 - 14:54 "No Sparring" Holloway

  • Max is spot on. As a pro fighter, you already know how to fight. You can get your reflexes on point without sparring. You can punch a heavy bag way harder than you can (should) punch your sparring partner. Pads will get your hands sharper than sparring will in my experience. Obviously you have to hone in and purposely use other methods to sharpen your reflexes.

    @MRphipps54@MRphipps54 Жыл бұрын
    • Max doesn’t need to spar because he’s been through all the sparring sessions. He’s perfected his style. For people early in their career, u need sparring. nothing compares to realism.

      @MADTHEJUDOKA@MADTHEJUDOKA Жыл бұрын
    • Agreed, except sparring is still necessary for camp. One simply must get used to being on* the two way range

      @shinobi-no-bueno@shinobi-no-bueno Жыл бұрын
    • In my training, I actually prefer touch-sparring. Super light contact, but just enough to know you got hit. That way, we can hone those reflexes without completely wrecking each other and work on developing a fighting style. When your sparring hard, your game plan and style tend to go out the window and you just want to hit the guy back.

    • I wonder why slow/light sparring isn’t done more often. Maybe it is but when I boxed we never went slow. Was always about trying to do things quickly. But when training anything else (think weights) we break it down slowly until we perfect it.

  • I love Oliveira, he’s my favorite fighter, but I think the best way to beat him is to go down after him when you knock him down. People were scared of Ryan Hall, but Topuria went in on him and knocked him out with GNP. I think if you have Charles hurt you have to try and GNP him, it’s your best shot besides a flash knockout.

Smoke a joint every day you dont get that high after a while....take a break for a week and then you're high af when you smoke

      @doge-xj7zb@doge-xj7zb Жыл бұрын
    • @@doge-xj7zb you have absolutely no evidence to support GSP being on anything and his physique is very realistic naturally. Him being a more safe fighter takes nothing away from his wins, he needs to win, not to entertain you. And he lost to Matt Serra, but everyone loses, Jon Jones lost to Dominick Reyes, the only fighter who never lost without ducking anyone is Rocky Marciano

  • I’m actually really glad to see how prevalent you made Jones ped use. Cause a lot of people kinda just gloss over that fact. Peds literally change the game. Like Pierre said there is stuff that boosts confidence, make your reaction time better. Then there is jsut performance and strength and power. It’s crazy what that stuff does. Also, it’s very easy to pass a ped test. Lots of top athletes have done it. Cause with fights it’s no random they have an idea of when they will be tested. For all we know jones could have used them prior to missing the first time and he continued to use
