I didn't feel the need for warmup when I trained one to two times a week, but now as I train 6-7 times a week, a warmup is a survival need. I usually roll out, do small mobility/stretch and some exercises from physical therapy to remind my body how to use the correct muscles and keep the alignment

god i miss ballet class so much. i started pole dancing instead cuz i was sick of not fitting into the mold and feeling repressed and having to be so underweight to look graceful and never ever being good enough. but i miss ballet with my whole heart sometimes. i will always dance but rn its on a pole and instead of my pointes im in heels. but lori you are an inspiration and thank you for sharing so much about the life of a ballerina. a wonderfully skillful talented one too

Yeah, if I don’t warm my turn out muscles a little I am stiff as a board and can’t turn out nearly as well. Hip mobility and flexibility is key to dancing well for me. Some of my friends rather stretch their legs and some don’t, I think it’s so cool to see what everyone else is doing

Theraband dancer all the way. If I don’t do a mini work out and feel every muscle burn prior to class. There would be no turn out or anything remotely resembling ballet.

Could you post a video on how you were able to get your straddle and middle split so beautifully? I have the strength and flexibility to do it, I just haven’t figured out how to have my body do it. And I am not new at dance, I have been dancing for 13 years and competitive dance for 5 years! Thank you in advance if you are able to post it!!❤

I have always been the one who warms up at my studio, and I also can't imagine taking class without warming up. However, I prefer mobility exercises, not really passive stretching
