taking a ballet class in my 20s - 1 month progress update!
hello :) i started taking an adult ballet class back in january and made this video to show my progress so far. its definitely scary starting a discipline like ballet when you're older but this is your sign that its never too late to start :) its scary to learn things as an adult because as we get older it somehow seems less okay to be mediocre at things. but my goal is to be a lifelong learner which means that i will always have room for improvement - WHICH IS OKAY. its okay to be bad at things and still do them. failure/being bad at things is a product of becoming better! anyways thats the end of my mini rant, enjoy!
if youre reading this, you are perfect and you can do whatever you set your mind to. sending love from CA!

You are doing a great job at 1 month! I could barely balance at centre even after 2 months of adult ballet class.
I'm looking into signing up for ballet classes (I'm in my late 20s) and it was super nice watching you practice!! It's nice to know others out there are starting out with adult ballet too. Please do keep us posted on your progress ☺️💖💞
WOW! did you end up signing up? i hope you did and that youre loving it :) never to old to learn new things! unfortunately i stopped going to class but am hoping to restart at home again! thanks for the love 💗
This is super relatable. I'm also in my 20s and just got back into ballet from when I was a child. I'm the worst in my class and totally lost when we do floor work away from the bar. Overall, it's very fun and nostalgic. Good luck on your ballet journey!
I've definitely been there several times (With being the worst in the class)! It's hard, but so worth it. I've gotten so much better since I started, and now I'd say I'm in the upper 30% of my class!
I’m so proud of you! I’m 46, and restarted ballet last year after almost 30 years (I danced age 13-17). I am in a class with young girls age 10-18, and it’s very challenging, and I love it. I am already so much better than I was 6 months ago, and am even dancing in our ballet school’s production of the Nutcracker! PS I subscribed.
I have deffinitely been the one person in the advanced class who has no idea what they're doing (they put me with the PRE-PROFESSIONALS, who thought that was a good plan???) but I can say that with practice, IT GETS BETTER. You are already doing a stellar job!
i'm a ballet dancer and i truly think that's great for just one month of ballet✨
UR FOOT ARCH IS ALREADY QUITE GOOD?? i started ballet pretty late too and i still can't get my foot to look like that, ur feet already has an advantage with it's natural arch!! if ur planning to keep going (i def think u should!!) and u become more flexible, u can definitely easily get * that * ballet foot arch and get really clean beautiful lines!
How is it going now after 6 months?
You're GOOD ! Legs at 90°C and everything ^^ GREAT JOB !! CONTINUE ! I'm 30, I've re-began almost 6 weeks ago and I almost in the same situation/level as you ^^ So I RELATE !
Great progress ! =) great video
only 1 month?! omg youre a natural !
Keep up^^ I've always wanted to start ballet, to fulfill my dreams, but never had a courage to actually begin... You inspired me to try it at home, thank you! :)
Thank you
@@BeaCurious7 I'd love that :) I've just started and ballet already gave me confidence and grace. It feels good to make my childhood ballerina dream come true :D
@@BeaCurious7 Natural talent with skills. Where are you from ?🤔❤
this was so beautiful
the ending particularly :)
I just started adult ballet after trying pole, belly dance but my problems are flexibility so I begun in ballet recently. I also want to be trained in contortion, thanks for documenting your journey and good luck
AHHH you’re such a beautiful ballerina, I’m gonna start adult ballet this fall, so excited
omg thank u🥹❤️ I HOPE YOU LOVE IT!!
You're doing so so good! Started ballet as an adult roughly one year ago and I didn't progress that fast. Did you continue to take classes? Would love to see an update :)
I love your videos, they are super relaxing to watch. You are very good at explaining and I seriously adore you. You will achieve everything you set your mind to and please continue making more videos like this. 💖💖Greetings from Ecuador 🇪🇨💖💖
omg this is so sweet i’m going to cry😭❤️ thank you for your support and love, it made my entire week💕🌷☀️
Your a beautiful ballerina 🩰❤❤❤❤
If you experienced lower back pain then you should include lower ABS and core training, to strenghten muscles that hold your pelvis. The tailbone should point towards the floor during ballet most of the time. Check barre au sol trainings, kniaziev gymnastics or some pilates. My ballet teacher usually started the class with this kind of workout, then we moved to the bar. At the very begining we did most of our classes on the floor, and i believe that is what gave me the best progress as a dancer.
You’re doing great, and you have pretty feet, btw. I’m planning to go back to ballet, after at least 15 years away. It’s never too late.
Hey, corrections are the best thing your teacher can give you! Hopefully they do it gently, but yeah.. it's very important. Remember and apply them!
I hardly believe thats the evolution after just 4classes. Even after one year I would still say you made a really good Job! I have seen people dancing since children or since more than 10 years way much much much more worse! You can point your foot, stay straight, you keep your turnout....I believe you have done before gymnastics or ice-skating or sth related to ballet? Otherwise is almost imposible to believe
wow thank you! i was a cheerleader for a year in middle school and i did take ballet when i was really little (like 3 yrs old for a few months). i practiced A LOT (hence the sciatica oops), sometimes multiple hours a day because i was having so much fun! i love dancing and hope to take another class one day :)
I wanted to be a ballet dancer as a child but I was way too old (i was 6 lol) but i still love to see the art form so i would love to learn just for fun.
ah yes the world of ballet is wild and people start so young! i hope that you take a class or end up learning ❤️ it is so much fun ☺️
I used to do ballet as a child 5-11 but my parents stopped being able to afford it, I desperately want to start back but I’m worried about being to far behind for my goals
agh i get that! it’s scary to think about being behind and it is hard to restart things as an adult❤️ i understand❤️ but also, don’t forget that everyone has their own path! u may feel behind, but i promise you are not💕 the most important part is that you are excited and that you enjoy the process☀️ i’m rooting for you!!!
@@BeaCurious7 thank you for the kind words!!! I’m going to give it my best shot and have fun regardless of anything!
What video or class you are doing? On this video?
Great job Just one thing, keep your thumbs in.
I am 18, you think I can still do ballet?
yes absolutely!!! (: i am much older than you and was able to do the beginner class! i hope you try it and love it :)
@@BeaCurious7 thank you so much 💘
