Do you ever keep shoes from big milestones or special performances?

I know my dance teacher stored all her ballet shoes, both soft and pointe for her entire career dancing up until she stopped performing pointe. She had thousands in her garage.

Do you ever soak your feet, or how do you care for the part of your body that is so important to your profession?
@joybranch-londesborough661715 күн бұрын
I’m a ballerina myself, and no i do not soak my feet. As bad as this sounds the calluses and the hard skin that your body makes over time actually helps us to dance so it isn’t as painful on pointe.

You can do hot footbaths for tight muscles, there's creams that warm or cool, there's these massage rollers you slide your soles across and even vibrating "cushions" you can put your feet on- I've seen a bunch of ballet dancers use all kinds of different things to care for their feet :)

I would get very attached to certain pairs of pointe shoes! I would probably have a shelf with them all lined up in there. 🥰

Honest question I have wondered since I took ballet as a child: why do dancers shoes get so dirty when everyone is just wearing ballet shoes in the studio?🤔Is it from the teachers shoes?

Dancer here! It's from the marley (dance floor) rubbing off on the shoes! It's kind of like when your shoes pick up color from walking on a track.

OK, serious question: How many times a year do you see a podiatrist? Be honest now.

Obviously I'm not Lori haha, but it's funny that I saw this comment because I'm going to see my podiatrist in a couple weeks for a bruised nail I got from pointe work that isn't growing out or falling off. Very irritating.

do you know any diabetics who are ballet dancers? i’ve always wondering because we are always told to make sure we take care of our feet & any sore or anything is cause for concern & i just wondered how that would work as a ballet dancer.

The squishies are silicone toe protectors :) the are like a little sleeve you put around the toe, like a permanently closed band aid. They come as sleeves or even caps for the very tips of your toes!
