  • They're supposed to be in their 40s near the end of the film, and Jake Gyllenhaal started walking with a limp. Ang Lee was like, "WTF are you doing?" And he said, "I'm supposed to be older" and Ang was like, "You're not supposed to be 80!" Which is super funny because now Jake is in his 40s and got in the best shape of his life for "Road House." (Also, kudos for leaving out any jokes about scarfs. I love you-know-who and that song, but Jake Gyllenhaal is an amazing actor. He was nominated for an Oscar for this part. I hate that you can't say his name these days without someone mentioning a scarf. It was a decade ago...Move on! LOL)

    • @@FD-mg5eo I don't think it's a metaphor, but one of the lyrics says that he kept her scarf and her fans like to comment "Give the scarf back!" or just 🧣on every single Jake Gyllenhaal post on the internet. I'm not even exaggerating. I just looked him up on IG and tapped on the first post I found about his new movie. One of the top comments is, "Give the scarf back!" I've even heard people ask his sister. about the scarf in interviews. 🤦‍♀ The song was written 13 years ago. She did release a longer version recently, so it's been resurrected, but the fan behavior is embarrassing. She has openly said, "Please leave my exes alone." I appreciate her fans' dedication, but I wish they'd direct their efforts elsewhere. LOL (Oh, now that I think of it, there was a theory that the scarf was a metaphor for her virginity, but IDK where that came from. I'm pretty sure she was really just talking about a scarf. 🤣)

And i especially loved how Heath found it odd that ppl found it so brave that he kissed a guy for this film. And how his biggest concern being in this film was not being mature and good enough. This was very refreshing at the time because many actors turned down this role cuz this was considered a huge career risk by many.

Your scent is transferred to many things you interact with, especially very absorbent materials, like shirts. Jack's scent was still on his clothes since not much time had passed between his death and Ennis picking up something of his to remember him by. He was in love with Jack, so his scent was important to him. Plus, I think the shirt he picked was one that Jack wore the most.

    • There were places where the community demanded the movie be removed. One theater owner decided to call this out by replacing “Brokeback Mountain” with “Deliverance,” and then called out the community for complaining about “Brokeback Mountain,” but saying absolutely nothing about “Deliverance.” If you’re familiar with “Deliverance,” you’ll understand what he’s talking about. If not…look up at your own peril. Let’s just say the biggest and most importaint difference between “that” tent scene and the most infamous scene in “Deliverance,” is that in “Brokeback Mountain,” it was consensual.

    • I'm still mad at how the Oscars treated Brokeback mountain. Some voters refused to watch it, and it was mocked at the awards. Glad Ledger didn't tolerate that nonsense and refused to present there after. The brokeback mountain really deserved better. Not just regarding it winning best picture, but the reactions it sparked despite it being a well-made, critically acclaimed film was really unwarranted.

    • Really? That was it? Not "Citizen Kane" losing Best Picture to "How Green Was My Valley"? Peter O'Toole NEVER winning an Oscar despite his career? Al Pacino "winning Best Actor for "Scent of a Woman" because the Academy wanted to "make up" for the fact he should've won for "The Godfather Part II"? "Shakespeare in Love" winning Best Picture over "Saving Private Ryan"? I could go all day. But, I'm saying is the Academy has always been a joke and always will be a joke. Nothing has changed and nothing ever will change.

I was happy, that brokenback mountain didn't get the Oscar, because I thought it would get the Oscar only for the topic, not for the story and acting. Solely unjustified prejudices of me. Shame on me! After seeing the film 15 years later I have to admit, I was touched by the drama. Very disturbing heart-breaking scene, while Ledger stand next to the wardrobe holding the shirt in his hand. This film changed my perspective, and I think I am not alone. So it deserves truely an Oscar.
