Seeing so many people complain about how nothing happens in the first two episodes makes me realise that I might have been the only one who was just down to just watch a fun sitcom with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.

You were not! The sit-com parts were BY FAR my favorite part of this show. I especially loved these three episodes, they drilled right into all my 'Nick At Nite' memories, but the 90's one SLAYED my husband.

Agatha was able to adapt and fit into each decade without being mind-controlled because as a 300+ year-old witch she actually lived through those time periods.

I was surprised to hear people didn't like the show's first couple episodes because there was no overarching plot. I would have been fine with the entire series being nothing but Wanda and Vision trying to fit in to a suburban lifestyle. I loved it.

thank you. A lot of my fellow Indians didn't watch the show because it had no "action". So it's nice to see I'm not the only Indian that cares about the MCU beyond its action sequences.
@@damunaik4 that's what I love about Marvel. It has a lot of incredible action, but even the non action parts are great in most of their movies.
The early episodes were the best. The mystery there was excellent. The last episode, which devolved into a typical Marvel 3rd act mirror match cgi lightshow battle was the worst. It just didn't need that. Other reasons too. Though there were some excellent scenes in it too.
Yeah honestly, like I understand that it's her controlling absolutely everything and that this is just a way that she's coping and that none of it is real, but whatever!! I wanna watch them make corny jokes and host dinner parties!!
I love how "for the children" goes from being a creepy cult like chant in hex to being the only thing keeping the hex parents going through this nightmare. Its for their children.

It kinda reminded me of that horror fil The Greater Good with the cult of old people murdering people and when the cop finds out they chant "For The Greater Good" I know it probably has nothing to do with that but how eerie it sounds gave me flashbacksnto that movie.
I'll never understand why Hollywood didn't rate Paul Bettany before Marvel, he's such a good actor even before this role.

I think when Mr. Hart starts choking, Wanda is actually doing it. Subconsciously she is freaked out by the line of questioning. Reflexively she starts to choke him out - just like she does in the final episode to all the townspeople (including Ms. Hart) when confronted with the trauma she was causing. So at the dinner, when Ms. Hart is repeating, "Stop it," to Wanda, she isn't asking for Wanda to save her husband, she means for Wanda to stop killing him.
That can't be can it? Wanda only reacted that extremely in the final episode because she was being told how much the people were suffering all at once, and it overwhelmed her. But in episode 1, she still had no clue what was going on, how it was happening, or that she could control anything. I guess you could argue it was more magic on auto pilot, but it seems more like a result of Mr Hart's real persona breaking through and interfering with the script.

@@DLxxx That's what I got from the moment especially because Mrs. Hart turns to Wanda telling her to stop it and Mr. Hart starts choking right as he's about to say something that would reveal what's going on as he's saying "Why did you..." the same way other characters weren't able to fully say the sentences they were trying to say. You say Wanda didn't know so she couldn't have cause Mr. Hart to choke but in the finale when everyone is expressing their suffering to Wanda and she yells to stop she accidentally chokes every single one of them. By the finale you should get everything that's going on and that first reality breaking scene was clearly an instinctual reaction from Wanda's subconscious using her magic.

That's a win
Actually the accent drop has everything to do with who she is trying to be. With the accent she is her embracing her traumatic past and the despair she grew up with. When she loses the accent, which she had by Civil War, She is pretending to be a normal westerner, and even when she was with Vision she still had the fake american accent in place. Its only when her wrath comes out does the original REAL wanda speak.
That makes sense. I mean there's that cliche in basically all media that when a character gets angry or irritated they begin slipping into their native tongues. Starting with the accent getting stronger and finishing with (depending on the context) screaming in your native tongue.
i love how this show is pretty dark just looking at it on face value, but the deeper you look the worse it gets. Like how quicksilver says in the halloween episode "so, where were you keeping all these kids". As if Wanda was just keeping all the kids locked away in shut-down mode the whole time. And the people on the edge of the town just being on a short movement loop. WandaVision is by far the darkest part of the MCU so far. Especially when we realize that all the citizens of Westview are aware that they´re trapped.
Ikr. I can still clearly picture that woman and her laundry, doing the same arm movement over and over again, with that single tear rolling down her face. This show is really creepy.
I feel the more you watch it the sadder it gets, particularly her relationship with Vision. She created this to "get him back" but controls his every move, gaslights him when he deviates and actually doesn't spend that much time with him! He's at work (even on Saturdays) and away from her for most of the episodes. I was confused by how well he takes it but I suppose by the time he gets back to Wanda he is aware he isn't real. Absolutely heart-breaking when he asks if his kids will be okay.

What I really love is Agnes saying she’s neighbors “... to the right - my right, not yours” means not only that WandaVision’s house is to the right of Agatha’s, but also that Agatha has the perspective of an outsider since her house is on Camera-Right while looking at the front of WV’s house.

The delivery of that line makes me lose it every time
And that was the magic trick of this show. They wrote unironically good sitcom episodes. Which is why the boss choking lands so good when it happens “no please take us back to non threatening happy land I no like this!”

@@KazeAizen Exactly. I feel that laugh tracks, at least in most modern shows, are used somewhat excessively, since they're essentially conditioning tools to tell people what to laugh at. But most of the jokes they used them on in WandaVision actually felt appropriate - and the ones that didn't, it was clearly intentional. Having a live studio audience for episode 1 DEFINITELY was the right call.
Kathryn Hahn definitely deserves her "always a win" status.

Wow, that's an incredibly dark realization! You only make the connection when Dottie/Sarah is confronting Wanda about keeping her daughter locked up, and desperately pitches sitcom ideas for her to be able to see her again. 😢💔

I didn't realize that for a brief moment, Agnus actually seems a little shocked by Visions appearance. Nothing big, but knowing what we do about her, it's a slight hint.
Its another great detail because I thought she was shocked that he was actually real - since she questioned Wanda's marital status and lack of ring
I absolutely loved how they decided to dump us into this weird retro sitcom with absolutely no explanation, and the whole thing is played straight until the choking scene.
Ik. My family was pretty dubious about the show up until the point where it zooms out to show someone writing on a notepad and watching them, then they were hooked.

Agent Woo is the most underrated character in the MCU and nobody will convince me otherwise.
The choking scene is still one of the creepiest scenes in this for me. Also, I love how in the credits the only thing made of scarlet isn’t vision.
Wow! I completely missed wanda's hands changing the aspect ratio. That was a dead givaway of who's running the show.
another detail i caught: Agatha knows how to perfectly play all these sitcom roles because she lived through and probably watched the sitcoms of those time periods
It's part of the reason I hope we're not done with her and why I hope she's a little more 'gray' like in the comics. Whether her trial was 'self-defense' or a trap to steal her coven's power she's over 300 years old - that has to have changed her perspective some, even if it is mostly to wear her down into 'same issues, different century'.
I mean, there’s nothing to suggest she ever watched them. I’m sure she had other things to do than watch television.

So a thing I think you missed is the Vision saying "I'm not as funny without it, am i?" Is common theme amongst alcoholics/drug addicta thinking they cant be their best with out it. Being part Tony Stark, I think vision really felt that characteristic.

The most poignant change in the Marvel logo intro for me is that the last bit of footage you see is T'Challa and his energy blast taking over all the Marvel letters. It's just such a subtle but perfect tribute to Chadwick. So glad you're doing this show, cuz I adored it!
It's so clever that when Vision talks about naming Billy after William Shakespeare the quote he chooses is "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players" He says it so casually you could almost miss it but it gave me chills
Debra Jo Rupp deserves a basket of wins for the end of that dinner scene in the first episode. Look and listen as she says "Stop it". She has that laugh and smile that nothing is wrong, but you can see flashes where her eyes are panicked, pleading, desperate, and the corners of her mouth drop ever so slightly, and there's a very slight waver in her voice -- like she's fighting to break through, begging that her husband won't be a casualty of this sitcom mishap.
Yeah, that scene was disturbing. Itbwas more subtle then later breakes in the reality but I think that is the very thing that made it unnerving. When you have something obviously 'broken' you can point to iz and say 'yeah, that's wrong' and ne done with it. When it's this subtle it's just wrong enough for your brain to Pick it up but it takes a bit longer and because of that it lingers.
That scene reminded me a little of Georgina, from the movie Get Out, in both cases you could feel the internal conflict of the characters

Your description of her, to me, is more about her in Thor movies. In this series, she has PhD in Astronomy, following the footsteps of Jane Foster and Erik Selvig. She's also the on who got findings on Maximoff Anomaly.

Another win is that The “Hydra Soak” soap is also a Reference to the Agents of Shield Arc. Without spoiling anything, many of the Shield Agents lose their memories and are put in a different world much like Wanda Vision. One of the Agents thinks that Hydra is controlling people easily through their soap, so they make their own. So there is another win 👍

@@Royalname31 Exactly. Agents of SHIELD had a giant affect on the MCU even if it’s not talked about. Little jokes like this though remind the viewers how big of an impact it had. Quite a dark joke and reference all together, but as a SHIELD fan, I’m glad they did it.

Something I didn't catch was when the whole town says "For the children" in unison, it seems implied that they're all agreeing to play along with this charade for the sake of their children that Wanda's hex is keeping from them. When Wanda and Vision say it though, it seems more like they repeated it while also playfully foreshadowing the next episode, which is just brilliant.
So, I know that a lot of people regarded Peters’ casting as “Fietro” as a bait-and-switch, but it was actually really clever. There was no other person Marvel could’ve cast that would’ve kept the audience wondering whether that Pietro was real or not. It carried on the mystery element that was so good in the beginning for just a couple more episodes. Not to mention it was done an episode after we get an outsider view of Westview- just when we think we’re one step ahead of the mystery and ahead of Wanda
i'll add that this could lead in the multiverse by him being actually a real Pietro in another univers.

I thought that the thing Vision pulled out of Mr Hart's throat was the one chocolate covered strawberry she'd prepared for the night, and that she subconsciously magicked it into his throat to stop him from asking. Which is why she was just as confused and things got a little too real

I have PTSD myself and CPTSD. I absolutely ADORED this show on Disney+. I love that you're catching all the little details a lot of us missed on the first viewing. This show is basically PTSD magical edition and I'm in love with it.
I have it too. When I was little Wanda’s powers were always my favorite, and I always wished I could do what she did. When I grew up I realized that if I had powers like that, my trauma would probably manifest into something horrible for the outside world…when WV came out it felt like someone had taken all those thoughts and fleshed them out to their logical conclusion. It made so much sense to me.
It's basically a 3h 40m movie you can binge in one night. Roll with it.
And the Snyder cut is longer
so if you can do one Lord of the Rings movie in one go you can binge this whole series, too ;)
@@dorderre I'll add an extended cut of Fellowship is almost as long as the entire series of WandaVision and WV makes a horrible movie. That said, Falcon and the Winter Soldier episodes are feeling more like movies.

I really love how effectively this show depicts Wanda's grief, and how she gradually learns to accept her losses, and become the Badass Scarlet Witch! 😍
So do I. I can’t wait to see her Scarlett Witch transformation get winned.
Then again, the (second) credit scene of the last episode reveals that she never really learns to truly deal with grief and just makes a separate being to carry it for hear, this separate being also catching up on the magical books and spells she never was taught.
Wanda is the villain. Agnes did (almost) nothing wrong.
Her becoming Scarlet Witch was so badass and my favorite moment. Was anyone else giddy during that or just me?

The Marvel intro endcapped with Black Panther was a good tribute to Chadwick Boseman.
Wanda and vision were literally perfect castings. They nailed it
-“Shut up, Bev” in episode 2 and residents in later episodes being overly polite to keep Wanda happy -The credits always zoom in on Vision’s eyes last. He also has normal eyes as opposed to his lens looking eyes in the movies. -Kathryn Hahn is definitely always a win
Also, they absolutely nailed the costuming for the 50s, right down to the underthings! Wanda is very clearly wearing a girdle, petticoat, and bullet bra in the first episode, something that you might not pick up on consciously unless you’re familiar with the 50s silhouette and how it was achieved. Her dinner dress (the one with the bow on the front) even looks to be either a true vintage garment or a wonderful reproduction, and I immediately recognized Agatha/Agnes’s plaid dress to be from British Retro UK, a brand that perfectly replicates vintage clothes. Absolutely outstanding detail! (The only thing I have *slight* issue with is that I wish Elizabeth Olson had adopted a transatlantic accent for the first episode- that very 50s, flowy and lilting way of speaking that you see in old movies. It would have made the delivery of “Vision, help him” in her *regular voice* feel so much more jarring!)

"There is no good reason to ask because the answer could be anything from "we hate children" to "we can't have children" Thank you! People are so damn nosey, and when you to tell them to stuff it they get all offended like they weren't basically asking what you two do in the bedroom if you're not making babies...
I also love how Agatha's first line is "My mother in law was in town so I wasn't" yet the doctor says that it is so hard to escape a small town already suggesting Agatha isn't from Westview and is there willingly
I love this exchange in Episode 2: Vision: "Well, my understanding is that [gum is] purely for mastication." Herb: "Oh no, I don't do that."
The joke structure of the 50s and 60s sitcom era of television was so perfectly captured because Dick Van Dyke actually helped with the writing for these early episodes!

I know you are scheduled out to do WandaVison and probably have a full list of films coming down the pipeline..... But please do Prince of Egypt. This film is such an underrated masterpiece. The phenomenal cast, soundtrack, and artwork all deserve so much more credit. It hurts my heart more people haven't seen this film.

"you like it so I will do more" man we are at the point where you showed enough of your character where I not only trust you but actually like you as a person, you can do almost anything and I will still enjoy it just because it has you in it.
The Sokovia references are a bit more painful when Falcon and the Winter Soldier revealed that Sokovia no longer exists. Wanda's inserting references to her home country in her sitcom world to keep her home country alive in any way she can think of, no matter how small or insignificant it might be.
When the TV show is this quality. It IS Cinema!

I like how they took the effort to actually give the black-and-white sets color despite only using them grayed out
They made Vision's face blue as it looks better in black and white than his usual red. They absolutely paid a great deal of attention to how things will look in black and white
I mean that's how sets would be in the 50s and 60s too lmao, the world wasn't black and white
one of the funny things I realized while watching this show is that I’ve gotten so used to KZhead’s constant stream of content that I forgot what it’s like to wait a week for an episode to come out lol

Same here! But not just because of KZhead but because of literally every streaming platform out there! Even though waiting for each episode was not fun? It brought me back to when I was younger and had to wait for new episodes of all of my favorite shows. Now, I can just watch all of them in one sitting (which I don’t think is really good for our brains)
@@darylesese i like it tbh. It leads to fan theories and suspense that wouldnt happen if it was released at once.
I know a lot of people weren't super into the first three episodes, but as someone who grew up on old TV reruns, I loved them. They were slow-burn mysteries, wrapped in nostalgia, tied together with heartbreaking subtext.
As someone young and never watched sitcoms, and wasn't as deep into mcu as my dad, the first three were my favorite part. I was going insane theorizing as we watched. Its funny because my dad knew who Agnes was and probably half the twists long before me. I was in love with the sitcom mcu mix, it was amazing and I just wanted more. The whole show is amazing. Also now I need to rewatch it knowing what happens.
I like to say for the later episodes for Agatha’s reveal: it’s amazing. Comic book readers knew that Agnes is Agatha Harkness from the Comics, yet her reveal wasn’t just “oh it’s just Agatha Harkness” but “GASP! AGATHA HARKNESS!” all because of Katheryn Hahn’s amazing acting throughout the episodes.
And even if you're not familiar with the comics or the character it still works as a twist with brilliant build-up and fantastic pay-off. One of the best twist villains I've seen in years.

I like how disney+ creates these shows to allow some of our favorite side characters in previous marvel movies to get more screentime considering all they did was to help propel the plot forward but here they are allowed to improve their own characters and allow us to learn more about them and love them more.
To me the most poignant part of the updated opening credits is that Black Panther is the last hero we see. Rest in Power Chadwick Boseman!

ONG very few people could pull off Wandavision and tell the story THROUGH THEIR ACTING but pretty much the entire cast was genius
This show really made me like Wanda and Vision so much more. I just felt like they didn't get to have fun with them in the movies.
It makes me so frustrated to know they’ve had Bettany and Olsen for this long but never given them much to work with until now. But also I’m so glad that they FINALLY got this chance - theyre so great
The Mandalorian would work I think, and of course Falcon and the Winter Soldier, this is definitely something I want to see expanded apon, I wish we had all of WandaVision Cinemawins videos rn. (Oh and doing some Doctor Who episodes would be awesome, maybe Day of the Doctor or Revolution of the Daleks since those are the two longest new series episodes, thank you)

Absolutely lovely performances. During the dinner scene, I almost expected Rod Serling walking in out of nowhere, lit cigarette in hand, to give one of his Twilight Zone monologues haha. Also, Paul's quirkiness, and of course the fact that he's British, just keeps giving me this funny David Bowie vibe, it makes his character just so awesome and endearing.

i actually really loved this show, even the first few episodes where not much happens. however, the first three episodes help build the mystery, and i enjoyed getting to find out more in each episode. i remember looking forward to every episode!
I was genuinely laughing at every single joke and pun they made. They were just THAT good. Also, I began watching this with my mom (who watched the first episode and was insistent that this show didn’t make sense and wasn’t worth watching) but I convinced her to keep going and now she loves it!! I saw how she (and loads of other people on the Internet) were willing to give up because they didn’t have all the answers immediately, but I’m glad most of us stuck it out for an amazing series! It’s a serious foundation stone they’ve made in the MCU, and it’ll probably impact how other shows and/or movies are being made in the universe
Was surprised to see no mention of when Monica gets thrown out of the hex, she goes through 3 walls and then breaks out of the Hex when she goes through the 4th wall. That little detail REALLY amused me. :D

We technically don’t see Monica get tossed out but Wanda until episode 4. Until episode 4 we have no idea what happened after Wanda became suspicious.

I just finished the WandaVision show this week - I took a break after the first two episodes and watched about 10 minutes of this Cinemawins to get reinvigorated for the rest. I so love that this channel exists. Lee pointing out all the work/easter eggs/double meaning in movies make me see the effort put into them clearer. It makes them more intriguing for me. I love this one, going on to WandaVision (Episodes 4-6)!
This was my favorite thing Marvel has ever made because it wasn’t just a fight fight pew pew movie it was a puzzle and a very character based show that I fell in love with. Edit: Love you doing shows, definitely keep doing them!!

@@sia6045 pretty much every mcu movie was about how much ass the main character can kick. Iron Man kicks ass, Hulk kicks ass, Thor kicks ass, Captain America kicks ass. No matter what the plot ended up being, it was mostly about them epic fight scenes. Then Wanda vision manages to go almost an entire season without a single fight scene, and only starts the fight scenes when the show reaches the modern era of TV.
@@n8y80 Oh. I mean I get that but I’m pretty sure people say the same thing about Logan, The Winter Soldier, and IW. The movies in general are still pretty character driven...it’s just that they also have action scenes..that’s it lol. I’m glad Wandavision went into the direction it did though.

WandaVision ended up being a real joy to watch, I was very interested in the concept of the show, but I didn’t think I would end up loving it as much as I did. I also can’t wait to see you gush over “Agatha All Along,” that song is just so catchy and fun, I am sure that you got a real kick out of hearing it too.
I just realized, Vision in the second episode pretty much "gummed up his systems." I hate that it took me this long to get that. On another note, I literally said "Best show on television." When the first "episode" ended.

I’m happy you’re widening what we consider “cinema” in today’s world. This show, and most of the other Marvel shows, are almost shot as a very long movie and edited to fit an episodic format. I can’t wait to see what other shows you go over!
