Now let's get this straight.. these wave are huge for South Florida, rest of the world, not that big a deal... on this episode of Haulover Boats we see some big yachts get moved around like the little boats do in the inlet and surfers catching a wave.

  • So, from watching a whole bunch of these out of fascination, it seems like coming in is an exercise in "surfing" the ocean swells moving up the inlet. Especially if you're going against a lowering tide. Going out seems to be more about keeping your speed from getting out of control and keeping the bow from going too high or too low. Oh, and not killing your crew when you go flying and smack back down.

  • You want a sketchy and tough place to get in and out of, try Depoe Bay in Oregon. 30ft wide entrance surrounded by reefs and breaking waves, in the side of a cliff... the guys that fish out of there are known as the hole in the wall gang, and rightfully so.

  • 5:02 ... what is this? Other than the free swinging anchor, looks like it would be a nice little inexpensive ICW boat with some care and maintenance. Man, if it had a torqueedo outboard and some decent solar on it I could be out fishin' before anyone even knew I left.

  • Wow! did that many times in a 21 foot Whaler with twin 70 outboards on her there was one day so many of us were hanging onto the center console it ripped right off the floor on us we all looked at each other with that Holy Shit look on our faces most of those journeys we had the boat loaded with 12 Aluminum Dive tanks and dive gear for 4 guys onboard back inthe mid 1980s all you heard was the tanks clanging on top of one another all over that damn boat as we didn’t have good tank storage onthat one yet it was a wet exciting adventure everytime and that boat did haul ass

  • A couple of questions. First how far out do you have to go before the waves calm down, or do they? Second I see the police boat, do they hassle you on the ocean to see if you have been drinking? Here in the Midwest on the lakes its not uncommon to be stopped 2 or 3 times a day on the weekend to see if you have been drinking then will also inquire if you have any weapons or drugs on the boat.

    • waves this big are uncommon, it can get pretty rough in the inlet and it does when the waves are small with wind and outgoing tide, the messy part is usually only around 100-300 yards from the mouth of the inlet and then it can be flat calm.. the cops don't do much of that in Miami
