Kobe's highlights from every game in the 2001 NBA Finals against his hometown Philadelphia 76ers. He put together a great all-around performance in this series to cap off one of the best postseason runs of his career at just 22 years old. The Lakers also punctuated one of the most dominant Playoff runs in NBA history, finishing with a postseason record of 15-1. This was the highest Playoff winning percentage for a championship-winning team in the history of the league up to that point, remaining the best until the 2017 Warriors went 16-1.
Series stats:
24.6 PPG (41.5% FG, 33.3% 3P, 84.2% FT)
7.8 RPG
5.8 APG
1.4 SPG
1.4 BPG
Kobe’s basketball IQ was unbelievable even as a young player. I remember this series like it was yesterday.
#he got most of that from his dad 💜💛 and ❤️🖤💚
Same. I was in a bowling alley and no one’s was bowling. Just watching the game. I was 11 years old. Crazy how time flies.
@@mendoza2489damn lol
Kobe was a great passer when he trusted his teammates.
You can hear a kid say, "Go Kobe!" at 5:16. And then Kobe goes on to make that infamous assist. That's so wonderful to know that a kid felt hope, passion, and courage when they saw Kobe Bryant play. To admire and be inspired like that, to be so innocent... To have a hero. Someone to love and cheer for. That is truly beautiful.....
Yea I was a kid that time I fell in love with basketball cuz of Kobe me and my friends we would sleep with basketball and wake up with it we had a court in our building we would play all day and on every shot was Kobe Kobe every move is Kobe I loved him i love basketball it’s all cuz of Kobe his the best
Totally bro i get the same feeling when kyrie irving takes over ball games on my command lol I remember in the 02-03 season when Lakers they were down about 30 to Dallas and they did the magical comback, but to take the leading shot with under a minute left, was the courageous kobe with the crowd CRAVING for the comeback to be complete. Nobody else even dared to want the rock. And to their respect, nobody else but kobe shuddve had it!
that kid could be playing in the nba right now...
One of the Thing I miss about Kobe is the way he answer post game interviews.....he always praised players who work and play hard
#because that's the kind of player he was💜💛 and ❤️🖤💚 Kobe forever 💜💛
Thank you Kobe, it was great being a Lakers fan for those 20 years. You brought us 5 chips and 5 parades to downtown L.A.. I remember this one, thousands celebrated in front of Staples Center afterwards. You will always be L.A.'s son. Love ya man. Rest in paradise.

Hi there . you know I lived in LA and in the parades also you would not see a player like this again the best Kobe .
Being real. I lived in LA love the Beach and Mountains the weather my brother lives there. at that time love watching the real Lakers but now I don't watch them anymore sad team they are they about money 💰 not winning .
@@garyroundtree4106 that's a shame when it's just about money, I still love my Lakers for life even though they had a pitiful season, they should have stayed with Carmelo, Russell, Lebron, Anthony and the rest of the squad but to keep adding players and didn't get far was embarrassing 😭 I want to see Melo and Russell get rings and this could have been the season but it turned out to be a circus instead😭ps I'm going to watch golf🥰❤️🖤💚pss are you any relation to the original Shaft Mr Richard Roundtree my homeboy?🥰❤️🖤💚 Roundtree is a very distinctive name beautiful but distinctive 🥰

@@Blekkkkkkkkk well not the way basketball is played back then
After watching this, I now realized what Kobe meant when he said if Shaq had his work ethic, he'd be the greatest of all time. Shaq was around 28-30 during the three peat which mean he hit his prime in Nba years. Kobe was 21-23 during the three peat, which means he wasn't even in his prime yet. If you can see in this video, you'll recognize that Shaq's post hook and floater was actually almost unguardable because he was so big and strong so when he backs you down, he takes the air out of you. As he digressed in later years, he could've developed into a Kareem like post player that no matter what you do, you wouldn't be able to stop him. Not that he didn't have work ethic, but he didn't have the work ethic it took to be the greatest ever. On the other hand, Kobe was eerily similar to MJ and hadn't even really reached his peak, yet no one was able to stop him. He was literally the second coming of MJ with a Dominant low post player in Shaq. Kobe had the work ethic it took to be the greatest ever. I know their relationship with each other wasn't the best but could you imagine Kobe and Shaq with 100% chemistry and friendship ? They would've never lost. Kobe saying if Shaq had his work ethic he'd be the greatest ever is almost an understatement because Shaq would've won at least one more FInals Mvp as he aged and then he wouldve become the second best player on the team as Kobe rose to the occasion. How do I know this? From 04-07, even though the Lakers didn't have a team around Kobe, it was very obvious that Kobe was the best player in basketball at the time. If you put Shaq right back unto that team, they're instant championship contenders. With Shaq skillfully developing into a Kareem like player, and Kobe developing into an MJ like player, along with Phil Jackson implementing the triangle, how could they ever lose? Both would be undisputed 1-2 greatest players who ever lived so Kobe was absolutely right. SN: Please read carefully and consult your opinion below so we can have civil conversation on this.
You know i been saying this for years but no one other than people who are fans of Kobe/That Early Lakers Team agrees. If Shaq honestly was more in shape and didnt do things like waiting until the season to get surgery so he doesnt mess up his summer, or waiting until mid season to really be in basketball conditioning. Then they wouldve worked perfectly fine. Kobe was ready to take over around 2003-2004 but Shaq was kind of being head strong and still carrying the mentality that im the Big Dog. Meanwhile They wouldve honestly never lost that detroit series if Malone wasnt in and out the line up during the playoffs due to injury.. and Kobes ego at that point was on some F it ill do it myself. I would want to see a documentary on that 3 peat.
Dude I didn’t read anything but the last sentence I’m on 3 monthes of quarantine I can’t read that lol?
Wade was the best player in the nba in 2006 hands down but I agree with everything else
If only Shaq listened to Kobe.. o well
Kobe hit his prime at age 22. His 4th year in the league
Early 2000s Life was different. I'm forever nostalgic about culture, people, fashion, celebrity, TV programming, sports & sports figures, sports rivalries, felow sports fans, the announcers across all tv/radio media, and existence in general back then...

Ugh that series made me cry . I always wanted Kobe I watched him since high school .
He was clearly the MVP. Shaq had no competition at his position. Kobe was breaking down their defense and making Shaw’s job so easy.
Take Shaq off the Lakers and the Sixers win 4-1.
@@xaviervega468 Bruh as usual you Lebron fanboys is wrong
Before in the 90s Shaq’s Rivals that time is Hakeem, Patrick
Its kobe' highlights only
U cant feel shaq bec. Motumbo was there jaja
Sad thing is what people don't understand is how much gravity Shaq and Kobe had as a pair. I see people act like Shaq had the defense's attention and Kobe hit open shots like a role player when that couldn't be further from the truth. Every time he touched the ball teams would throw multiple bodies at him, Blazers did this, Kings did this, Sixers did this, Nets did this, Spurs played him one on one a bit more with Bowen but I bet even Bowen would tell you it's impossible to guard him 1v1. Warriors have all this spacing and shooters which is fine and dandy but Shaq and Kobe together could attack any kind of defense with insane amounts of pressure on them, they played in a more physical era too.
I agree late 90s and early 2000s was probably the pinnacle of the era in basketball in terms of complete skillset and raw physicality
Indeed

Watching these old Kobe video's reminds everyone how good he was. Maybe even better than Jordan?
I think so. The difference is the media and NBA wasn't paid to drool over and cover for Kobe like they did MJ. They were paid to disrespect and tear Kobe down. Still didn't stop the Black Mamba.
David Kobe isn’t better than Michael but close in terms of talent and will to win 5 championships is fine with me as lakers fan
You can see Kobe’s dedication and willingness to win. The man would do anything to win. Also, although he runs the most in the court, yet he does not get tired. His stamina is hella strong. It is like you are running from your fears, you won’t stop and you won’t get tired because you are really not paying attention to the energy you are consuming.
I know the the passing of kobe will always be a struggle for people to get over but I think it’s best to remember him as one of the best and to not forget him and I know for people like his family and people that were close to him but I also I think it’s good he went out as one of the best In history

KB played a very significant role in this final games, should've been selected as MVP in this series
Hate to say this but... that's a big stretch right there. He was the MVP against the Spurs in 2001. Quite frankly, Kobe was a great Batman to Shaq being Superman in the playoffs and Finals.👌 Shaq deserved the MVP each time during this run at a 3 Peat. Kobe would prove his valor when they repeated in 09 &10. Shaq was unquestionably the MVP in 2000- 2002. He played with magnum force as his coach said.💪
@@wesleypollas6326 I would say the road to the finals, the MVP was more so Kobe than Shaq. But during the finals there was literally no centers besides mutumbo that was actually considered to be an all nba type player.
