    • I would actually expect to see price-hikes on any 5th gen given the new 4 cylinder powertrain. I’ve seen some people mock us folks that are concerned with having such a small engine in a 4Runner. I just can’t wrap my head around all the bells and whistles to make that work. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “improvement” on fuel economy is negligible. But we’ll see.

    • @@JerkStoreCalled well the taco tells you everything about this because this uses the same drive train. this gets low to mid 20s for mpg. which i believe beats the v6 that gets hopefully upper teens on thd highway. more of an issue from this is going to be reliability. sure it's a Toyota but they actually have a (relatively) bad history with any 2.4L

  • I love the look and styling of both the interior and exterior. Not sold on the standard powertrain. The outgoing 4.0 put out the same HP numbers and almost ten same torque and was basically bulletproof. This small displacement 4cyl will be working twice as hard to make the same power and of course will reduce reliability long term. I’ll hang onto my 22’ for a few years before I make the decision to grab this or the new Lexus GX550. Leaning heavily toward the Lexus right now due mainly to the beefier motor. Huge win it’ll still be made in Japan though

The tacoma looks great too but I am not digging the back end it looks too squished The sandstorm color takes my breath away and the AMAZING INTERIOR COLOR CHOICES!!! What other car has PURPLE for an interior? So unique!! Its like a dark lavender The green interior is my favorite though. I love that more of the panels and dash all around inside match the seat color that is also not seen very often. Even the steering wheel has a lot of color! I am disappointed tho that they didn't lean into a more open-air experience (not necessarily a convertible, but a bigger sun roof maybe?), not just to better combat Jeep and Bronco, but also to better differentiate itself from the new Land Cruiser Prado, that sits on the same chassis.

  • So much for reliability. The naturally aspirated V6, 5 speed transmission was bullet proof. You could count on it to not break down and easily go 300K miles with proper maintenance. You'll be lucky to get even 200K miles out of a turbo engine. The same goes for the hybrid motor. These are not vehicles I would want to drive into remote areas. But then the average purchaser will be only using them to go to work and to get groceries. Also issues with turbo and hybrid are much more expensive to fix than naturally aspirated.
