The engine has required nothing more than oil, plugs and a new alternator @ 340K. Same AC compressor & exhaust system. Amazing quality & performance on both. I suspect the new models will come with a higher degree of obsolesce.

Rear passenger leg room "appears" to have also suffered, especially on egress as you can see in other videos. Looks are subjective, so to each their own. Long term reliability is an unknown.

The LC is nearly 60k for a SR5 (actually less equipped) grade model. The GX makes sense, costs more but has a pano roof available, TTV6 and 3rd row. What advantages does the Land Cruiser have over the 4runner? And it costs more? Maybe having 5 SUVs on the same platform all the same realtive size wasn't a great idea afterall.

The 4 liter was rock solid, however it's fuel economy was horrendous and it was stuck with an ancient transmission, which also hindered its fuel economy as well. • Toyota, I think your design is beautiful! Was hoping something more in the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco approach which would be more off-road centric. I've owned four 4runners since 1988. This model leans more towards the daily driver centric with good off-road capability (similar to my 08'). Interesting marketing compromise you've choosen which leaves little room in your other vehicle line-up. Lot's of cross over in your Toyota line-up. I don't like you got rid of the near flat rear deck, so I can no longer sleep there anymore when car camping. I don't like the electric rear hatch but you had no choice the soccer moms demanded it for sales. I think its pointless complexity. I had to replace it two times on my 2015 Highlander $2300 job!! Lastly, I don't like the 4 cylinder engine you've pushed on us. Should have given me an NA option. Let the customer decide what they want. People don't like being forced down a road. I have an 08' 4runner Sport with over 210K and it runs like a Swiss watch. I also have a 23 ORP with 13k miles. Do you really believe the 4 cylinder engine with turbos will be as reliable as my 2008? I've never had any engine work on my 4Runner in 17 years other than Spark Plugs. Not sure this engine will do the same.

  • Please for the love of GOD make it an option to have colour-matched fender flares. Those massive black fender flares ruin the whole look and I just can't get passed them. Why is that a thing now? Who decided that looks good? Go look at a 2003 4runner with unmatched fender flares and tell me that's still a good idea. Also please stop making the 4runner bigger ever generation. The 5th gen was already too big. I live in the PNW where we actually use 4x4's and the 4runner is getting to the size where it simply doesn't fit down a lot of the trails I use.

    • Been saying this the Toyota prefect wheel base stays the same almost but they keep getting wider and wider I don’t get it. And the big flares I just don’t know. Color matched would probably help.

    • Color match is for base trims usually or the limited. The more off-road variants don’t in case you scuff them. This is has been the case for a long time. Even the Lexus Over Trail follows this unspoken rule.

    • Color match and add stubby mudflaps & canards Would also look good with a reverse NACA duct to assist cooling the turbo somewhere either hood or driver side fender.

    • Nonsense, they could easily put the base TTV6 (which is in compliance) from the Tundra in the 4Runner. They don't, because they want you to up to the Sequoia if you want the V6.
