Boat sends it at Haulover Inlet and catches an air pocket. The powerboat stuffs the bow into rough waves and has to limp home. 2 people have to be rescued at Haulover Inlet.

Huge props to the Sea Ray and the Sea Cross both came through to help which is what ALL BOATERS should do. Helping others on the water is a boater's rule that gets broken often these days so it's so nice to see this video.
It would be even greater if some more small/medium boats invested in a radio, and rough knowledge of protocol with it. Actually they probably have them but not listening or underconfident to speak up.
Under international law every captain has a duty to help anyone in distress or in danger of being lost as long as they can do it without serious threat to themselves, their vessel and any other people aboard.
it doesn't get broken often nowadays, lol wtf are you on about
First rule is wave and wave back, keep it friendly out there. Second rule always render assistance if you can.

Boating is a tight knit community. If we didn’t band together when folks needed it most you’d see a lot more videos of accidents in water that didn’t end well

whippin' it real good...
I like how the coastguard spend so much time asking questions that the entire incident is over before they finish. Super guys, cheers, make me waste my time trying to communicate too.
That coastguard certainly wasn't the sharpest knife in the draw.!!
Maybe they're also trying to weed out phony calls as well?
The ignorance in this comment is sad. That information helps with what equipment to take and what type of rescue needs to be carried out and where the patients are and how well they are doing. These questions give a time frame, location and how to proceed safely without putting others in more danger. The response time on land is also a lot different to the response time in the water, theres no 911 with an address for boats if your there and you have an extra hand you give it wether your coast guard or not. I bet if you were on a rescue mission youd be asking some important questions too there buck-o, use your head. There were multiple people on that boat . One person on the radio, others helping the kayaker putting everyone at use. What was useful about your comment?
I think the quality of the coastguard was very poor despite people defending him. The captain who rescued the Kayaker said that he was uncomfortable with the changing conditions, he was heading in and that the other kayaker was out of difficulty, but yet the coastguard stated to remain on the scene and keep eyes on the situation. The coastguard should not be compromising the safety of a vessel and crewe to act as a spotter. Someone needs retrained in my opinion (and I know nothing about boating), but common sense is common sense.
One of the responsibilities of the CG radio operator is to 'maintain radio contact.' In practice this can mean asking the same questions over and over. There's kind of an unspoken expectation that if things are getting serious, you deal with the situation first, responding to the radio is secondary.
Well I guess if you’ve been dying to go white water rafting in south Florida, haulover kayaking is as close as you’ll get.
Definitely a thrill. 😂

whew. that rescue operator was clueless. glad the sea ray stepped in.

Comms they were getting from the other side weren't really helping their SA and they didn't seem willing to assume the role of being the USCG eyes on scene which may unfortunately cause them to decide against radioing stuff in next time.
@@chrisoffutt8968 The coast guard dispatcher was the one massively failing in this conversation. The civilian captain described the situation well enough to understand in layman’s terms the details over and over. It was painful to listen to him repeat himself constantly. From a former police officer, emergency highway first responder, gunner in Iraq, and current commercial pilot in training… all requiring professional radio communication. It sounded like coast guard dude’s first day on a radio. A lot of police dispatchers are the same way. You tell them an important piece of information and because they’re thinking of their next question instead of listening, they ask a question about the exact information you just gave them. Experience helps with this tremendously and some dispatchers are so on point that it’s mind blowing how fast they extract the information.
@@VictoryAviation I literally just said the same thing, with the same qualifications. Dog shit radio traffic.
I have tremendous compassion & respect for the captains & crew involved in the successful rescue. They put their crew & boat in harms way with the strong current and other boats “passing by” in a hazardous manner. This is a great example of Individual’s doing whatever it takes to help others.
Except for the hazardous "passing by'ers", 😂
What happened to the coast guard yeah there's nowhere to be found yeah they don't even have a boat on patrol anywhere that they could send over there the guy sounds like you just came out of a nap he can't even hardly speak I mean what the fuck are they doing over there to coach guard you gotta one of the most dangerous passes in Florida if not the East Coast and there's no presence is there nobody in official capacity to rescue anybody she told she chose there that's that's that's where a coast guard money is going sito and the civilian population they're doing rescues now no they get a good job no the coast guard wasn't even there I'm talking about the people who rescued the kayakers

The Hellkat didn’t break anything he just got the crap scared out of him because he found out that his boat wasn’t as all conquering as he imagined when he was still in the flat water section. That all changed when cleared the jetties, caught a couple of waves that sent him clear of the water and when the boat came down it landed right side first which made the boat go hard left inside a monster spray of water and at that point the “fun” stopped. Cost of the boat = $500,000. Cost of insurance = $2000. Cost of moorage, maintenance = $3000. Cost of showing off for the cameras, embarrassing yourself, and limping back home = priceless lol
Where can moorage be found so cheaply?
@@Niaaal I’m just making up a number lol I have no idea what moorage is there. I’m not even in the same country.
Rule of thumb is usually, annual cost of upkeep is 1/10 of the purchase price of the boat. So, mooring and maintenance for a $500.000 boat is around $50.000.
@@realulli Somehow I’m not shocked by that number lol And I suppose the best places are a lot more expensive. My good friend has a 40ft Sloop, I’ll have to ask him what he pays but I know anywhere on this island is expensive as I’m sure Florida is.

Going out with no engine (kayak), even crazier.
Major props to the Sea Ray and the charter boat for lending a helping hand. Something that's seemingly lost in today's world.
WHY can't I stop watching these?
The little scout reminds me of a bird trying to fly on a really windy day.
That first large wave humbled him real quickly. Looks like he even turned around because of injury
I was once out fishing on a pier on Lake Michigan... and although its not an ocean, it is a giant body of water that can get extremely dangerous. There were two kayakers out there maybe a couple hundred yards from shore, when the water went from being absolutely calm and still the whole day, to 5-7 foot swells just in the blink of an eye. I've never seen the lake turn so quickly. Within minutes one kayaker capsized and went into the water and the other one was struggling. Someone on the pier called 911, but a person on a jet ski got to them and got them both to shore before the coast guard arrived. it was such a scary and helpless feeling watching and knowing you are completely helpless. Inexperienced people have no business going out into water like this or going too far out. Hats off to anyone who risks their life to help someone in distress
