15 FASTEST Boats Ever Made

2022 ж. 6 Мау.

Most boat designs focus on luxurious comfort or capacity rather than raw power and speed… but, over the years, a number of vessels have been built that are able to travel through, or across the water far quicker than you’d expect. The best of them are even able to outperform the majority of cars that you see on the road and, in some cases, it takes an incredibly brave driver to sit behind the controls while they do so. From the speediest power boats, to yachts, and even electric powered vessels, it’s time to take a look at the top 15 fastest boats ever made.

  • As a teenager ( 15 ) on an interstate end of year 4 week trip, I saw Ken running speed trials down the dam in 78. Holy crap that thing was loud. As country kids we didnt see many things that went fast. To see that craft ripping past at over 300mph with about 200 feet of rooster tail was something ill always remember. Our tour bus broke down for 4 days and we had zip to do while we waited for parts. It was a pity we were on the opposite side of the water to where they were camped or we would have had some up close views of this awesome speedster. Still amazes me that he built it in his back yard and it still holds the water speed record to this day. His top speed comeing out of the measured km traps was 345 mph. Averaged with his opposite direction ( 1st ) run, gave the record of 317.58 mph. He and his son are looking to break this record with a new boat. Hope they get it done .

  • One of your best videos. Lots of information on a rare subject that most know little about. You found the fastest boats across every genre including sail boats and luxury yachts. The focus time on each was perfect, just enough to keep me interested and informed without feeling like something was left out like many of these broad spectrum videos I find here. If you ever question your talent and wonder if you're doing the right thing go back and watch this video, study it. Then, re-adhere to the structure and principles in this one. Nice work, sir.

  • I can truly appreciate what it takes to run a watercraft at speed. So far the fastest I've driven on water is 73.4 mph. It's completely unlike doing the same speed on land. There's so much information to process and every input on the wheel is magnified. I just bought a new boat and we hit 84 mph on the test run. I'm sure it will take quite a bit of wheel time to feel comfortable driving it over 75 myself, much less the 90+ mph it's capable of. At just over 21' in length and a hull under 1,500lbs, weight and balance of the boat are critical too. You definitely can't just hop into one and drive it like you stole it!

  • The fastest I have driven at sea is 71 Miles / 114 Kmh, this is now about 25 years ago. When you see these "water-going fighters" it is just "Jogging" in comparison. But it was fast for a self-refurbished 16 feet with a (self-refurbished) 130 outboard engine. It cost me about 2500 US + a lot of petrol to have it for two summers, but it was fun too. After that I have not been over 15 knots, thanks for a good video (all the boats were old familiar) 💖💖

  • Bras D'or is pronounced "bra door". The hydrofoil was based on work done by Alexander Graham Bell on the Bras D'or lake in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Blue Bird name came from Donald's father, Sir Malcolm Campbell, who also chased the water speed record. Malcolm held both water and land speed records during his lifetime.

  • I remember going to the SDBA (Southern Drag Boat Association) races in Texas as a kid. Those things were insanely fast. My mothers friend owned a boat called predator which was fairly fast (160+ mph) but wasn’t even close to some in the higher classes. I remember boats like Aquaholic that were nitrous oxide fed absolutely stupid fast. I can remember one wrecking in the water and it was quite a sight. Front started hitting the water and rising up higher each time until it hit the water a final time and disintegrated. Took about 20 minutes to fish the capsule with the driver out. They were only able to salvage the engine sadly.
