$4,000,000 Barn Find - Rare Ferrari AND 427 Cobra Hidden for Decades | Barn Find Hunter - Ep.24
Searching in the heart of North Carolina’s NASCAR country, automotive author and Barn Find Hunter Tom Cotter ventures into a garage full of cars and is hit with a lightning bolt. Parked before him is a silver 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/2, covered in decades of dust and spider webs. The Italian Sleeping Beauty has only 13,000 miles on the clock and, Tom soon realizes, is one of only a handful that were built with an alloy body. It just can’t get any better than this, Tom reasons, and then-miraculously-along comes a 1967 Shelby Cobra 427.

what is name song ??? in clip
I'm a retired Ferrari carbon fiber tech and I have also completed a 2 year tenure at mosler aero-auto GT ((aero is to indicate high performance aircraft)). and I'm going to have to start calling bullshit on these barn finds. so here is the bullshit scenario you and this vid are trying to pass off on me. out of the millions of collectors with entire teams specifically employed to find cars like these. ad what you are telling me is that millions of dollars worth of cars went completely unknown to friends, family, passersby, collectors, the dealerships that sold these cars, and vandals, is this correct? you want me to believe this right? let me ask one more question. how many barn finds e there of $4 million worth of gold? why is it that we are able to find $4 million worth of cars in barns but yet we never see you and these other barnfind idiots not finding $4 million in gold? you find $4 million in cars all the time. but yet you never ever find any gold worth the same value. is that some sort of alien conspiracy bullshit or what?
2 different lawn mowers, posters, shovels, desks, chairs etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc were all brought in by ppl and absolutely nobody saw a FERRARI sitting there. if you think I'm stupid to believe that then let me suggest that youre the stupid one
Perhaps because people park cars in barns but they do not store gold in barns would be a good reason. Gold would typically be found in a safe, and for obvious reasons, these don't get forgotten about, or don't get published when somebody finds the abandoned gold.
I’ve been checking my garage for a forgotten cobra for years. I’ll keep y’all updated.
🤣🤣🤣 My garage sucks. No cobra-just mice. 🤬
I found mine... It was in the basement. .. Is it suppose to have "Hot Wheels" printed on the bottom?
Find anything yet?
Anything yet?
Set a Cobra trap. Caught 3 last week
Even more of a pleasure to watch because there was no irrelevant background music, just the conversation and the imagination. Purrfect!
Yeah, the 'slow mo shot + heavy electronica' get a little old.
I definitely heard my imagination
Peter Jones I know. It’s like we are there in the garage listening to the conversation and the natural sounds of the vehicle being opened and viewed. I wish more channels would follow this example. Good comment.
@@joelalexander5338 Someone else with an appreciation of life!! Thank you :)
ok boomer.
And as we learned from a previous episode, you need a Cat to guard your Custom Car Collection.
Was that the one with the mustang?
Wow life came full circle for you from writing a book about a Cobra to finding a Cobra in such awesome shape. Awesome is really an understatement for such a find and the show.
Yet ANOTHER fantastic Barn Find Hunter episode! The ONLY problem is that the episodes are always too damn short! I could watch this program literally all damn day! MORE, please!
My jaw never left the ground for the entire length of this video. When the garage door is opened, it's like a dream come true. All I can say is, "WOW"!
Wow ... mind blowing!! Omg ... you’ve said it man ... any Chevy , Ford or Dodge person would’ve dream to find a AC 427 Cobra in a neglected barn ... you blow my Australian brains out dude !! Cannot top this one up ! “The ultimate found “
I love the way they open the garage door and the camera crew are already in there!!
Feeding them since '91 has been a chore.
Tom i cant imagine how you must have reacted finding out that this has been sitting for so long in your home state. Truly the Barn Find of Barn Finds!!
*I wonder why the mice weren't living in the Ferrari? Maybe they couldn't afford to live in such a nice place 🤣*
Even mice don't want to live in something that's over priced and breaks down every chance it gets
The 1980s was the best period ever! Those mice knows cars lol
@TIGRES EQUIPO CHICO somebody got offended 😄
Omg rip
Probably because they put they car there the day before they "discovered' it
Congratulations on this magnificent discovery ! Hope that these fabulous automobiles are well cared for today.
They are most likely sitting stored in a collection never to be driven again. I think that’s a shame as these care are ment to be driven, but I understand their rarity and value may prohibit some driving them.
A true once in a lifetime barn find. Excellent episode.
You completely walked away from that E30!!!!!!!
Because it doesn’t compare to a GTB or a Cobra
And from the triumph tr6
What's a E30?
@@walkerforsyth6221 I hope you are joking
@@Henriquecido No... no I am not.
Oh my goodness, barn find of the century. Thanks for taking us with you to see this at the same time.
Congratulations to you for finally finding that dream Cobra. That's really cool.
Love Tom's knowledge. I could listen to Tom all day long
Wow! What a barn find, Tom. That's one hell of a story to go along with the find as well. Keep em' comin', thanks.
Yes! I love when Hagerty is in my notifications.
Dash-n-Cars me too
Again a quality show made by Hagerty, THANKS Hagerty
Tom , love this keep up the great work it's always been a joy of mine to look for old cars under barns or in garages
Great show!!! This is the mecca of finds. Great job Tom on presenting these fine automobiles.
Truly amazing. I'd love to see those cars cleaned up, running.
It's my favorite pastime, looking for old cars. I love your shows. My dad Bob Ormiston used to work for George Barris Custom Rods and helped build the Munster Machine and the Pink Panther Mobile and Sunny and Cher Mustangs and a few others I can remember the goofy names but I have pictures of my dad and George and these wacky cars from back in the day.
Better be kidding how can we enjoy all these new of episodes of these nice looking cars
Awesome find. Love that Cobra.
I hope you filmed the rest of the cars and do another video about them. As well as try to get the owner to speak about them, he must have some interesting stories. This could have been a hour or 2 long video and I would have gladly watched.
Well, the thing about Tom is he would usually profile cars that are truly unusual.
Yes. I'm totally pumped about seeing these cars! Rare. Valuable finds.
P Kuudsk d3$
Since you have some extra time, I have some swampland in Florida you may be interested in.
He left them for a reason. Maybe the "friend" is actually him, but he can't disclose that fact LMAO.
While!!! You can tell the excitement in your voice.... UNBELIEVABLE! I would have liked to see more of the other cars...
1967 Ferrari with 13 205 miles? Amazing find. 427 Cobra, sweet.
I think this is my favorite installment yet!
I really hope there is a follow up video with the clean up and restoration! Incredible find.
I love seeing an e30 in such a high quality and respected collection. Long live the e30!
Boriiiiing
BEAUTIFUL COBRA AND FERRARI!!!!!
I found a 12k mile Alfa Romeo Milano Verde and also along with the cars was a '69 Spider originally blue the owner bought from the Harrison's.
The Alfa Romeo Milano (75 in Europe) is my favorite dream 4 door.
Wish I could have been there when they opened the garage just to see it, that's an amazing find
Ross Johnson fake
Hardly a "find". The guy knew where these cars were all the time
I am in my late 60's like all of these rich guys that want to buy back their memories, but I have pictures with all of these cars from 55 to 72 , that I owned, All I have left now are my 1959 and 60 Eldorado Biarritz convertables. Didn't know they were worth as much. Never sell them. Liked your videos...
I have been binge watching your videos all weekend, awesome stuff
I love the 60s and 70s style bodywork
The 1955 BMW was one of the most attractive cars ever built. Much sleeker than what is put out today.
@@seriousviewer5528 no it wasn't
New episode! this is what ive been waiting for
Excellent video! What an amazing and rare find! Thank you for sharing.
Amazing, love to see them all cleaned up.
Completely agree, this could be made into a full documentary. I would happily sit for hours and watch those beautiful cars come to life. Perhaps Hagerty could make some follow-up programs about the entire story of this amazing find... please.
Surprising that the Goodyear Wingfoot radials on the Cobra still hold air, those were the tires to have before the Eagle VRs came out in the mid eighties for many American performance cars.
An amazing story of a gentleman with fantastic knowledge of automobiles and their history!
That is one amazing Cobra. You cannot top this.
"This brings tears to my eyes" - yeah, that'll be the mouse urine.
Amazing! Greetings from Italy Sir!
Wonderful GTB perhaps the best Ferrari. I hope you bought it
I loved that video, it put tears in my eyes and reminded me when I found a 1975 Porsche 911 turbo and a 1981 dmc delorean, again thank you tom
Really hope there is a part 2 to this video. There saw a few other beauties in that garage.
"A 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB which raked in $2,530,000 including commission. The 275 was of the long-nose, torque-tube type and came from the same collection as the 1967 Shelby 427 Cobra also found in the auction, which sold for $1,045,000."
I really thought the Ferrari would go for much more than this as not only are they impossible to find, this one is almost like new with only 13k on the engine. Who ever bought it got a great deal. One could argue that having a 2 cam instead of the normal 4 cam would hurt the price-I say that makes this version rarer and worth more money.
Good find Tom....passed you 2weeks ago on hiway 150 ...close by the nascar park.look forward to up and coming shows
Wow, what an amazing find. So gorgeous.
Best car enthusiasts channel on yt
Petrolicious?
Best part is there are no commercials to waste my time with.
Petro is great as well - but in a different way ( they dont do barn finds ) but restored cars & passionate drivers /owners
roadkill
I'd be willing to be in debt all of my life for the A/C Cobra and Ferrari 275 GTB, those are my dream cars!!!
275*
Robert Alejandro What the heck. .. it's worth it..:) Actually it's a good investment. .
LOL untill you lost your house & your cars because of your debt, then became homeless, your family left you, ended up dead with no one care about you.
@@YyouTTubeE boo
nothing like a survivor barn find (or in this case a garage find) be found and hopefully polished up to its former glory love to see it
OMG what an amazing find. Congratulations.
Nice! Heck, I'd be happy with the TR-6!
0228mustang you better hope that those mice didn't get ahold of any of the wiring in that Triumph. Oh what the heck, like they could do any more damage than Triumph did when they built it
All home market and global export TR6s with the exception of the US were equipped with the same Lucas mechanical fuel-injection that was installed on the TR-5, consequently they performed far better than the carburetted version imported into the States.
1966 275 GTB, several million Original Cobra 427, several million Triumph TR-6... $6000
@@Miatacrosser lucas wiring , the prince of darkness ! Lol
This is so cool, a Cobra in a barn...I love this series and we enjoy longer episodes.
Unreal best find yet, every one is worth all the money, love the selection.WOW👍👍👍👍👍👍
It's good to see someone fired up so much aboit something they love. Great episode, thank you.
The whole episode i was looking at that BMW 😂
Same
I was looking at what I can afford. The lawn mower.
@@sharksport01 A honda :D
SharkSport 😂😂
Such statements as vinyl and Ferrari speak of the ignorance that is apparent in the level of knowledge witnessed, sacrilege that they even get to see the Ferrari much less drive
and there's a freakin MORGAN !!!!! they didn't even talk about it !!! yes, findin a cobra is amazing but i would be even more exited about a morgan !
Coming in a later episode!
MrPafleouf why V8 Morgan ain’t that rare
Propane powered - Jay Leno just did an episode on these rare cars
he mentioned the morgan and if I heard him correctly , he said it had a V8 in it, which I found odd. Some of those were wooden chassis. or part wood. similar to the early Triumps.
I agree.
In 1973, when right out of grad school and starting my first "real" job, I was offered an original small block Cobra for $2500. It was a roller. It was complete but had been in an accident and, as I recall, nearly all of the body panels were missing. I knew it was a great deal but it was out of reach for me, so I passed. Should have borrowed the money and put it away. Now, today, even as a complete "roller" it would be great to have on display.
Tom has the coolest books; thanks for the Vincent in a barn This was a huge find.
Wow!
Sure loved this one find show! Haven't watched Hagerty in a while now, and this is the reward I get! The Triumph and the Morgan are the icing on the cake.
Incredible , it's a trip how many of these are around just waiting to be found.
Awesome time capsule of some classic pieces of art. Thanks guys for sharing the find on the journey.
That Craftsman will be a collector's item too. :-D
Anyone else hate seeing this videos cuz it’s like “why would you just let something so beautiful sit in a garage to go into disrepair?”
hate to see it, but life goes on, tragedies occur, priorities arise, time flies, procrastination takes it toll.......
This was the best Hagerty video to date!
This right here keeps my blood pumping the fact that these awesome cars are still being found.
And there they sit just waiting for their next owner to find and love again!
The mice couldn’t afford the rent in the Ferrari so they moved in the Cobra.
Cobras are without doubt the most beautiful car the British have ever made
Amazing. And so complete. It's both exciting and a bit sad to see them in that condition. Those cara are so incredible, it would be an honor just to clean and detail them. If it was possible, I would and not charge a dime just for the experience.
Those are the videos I wanna see!!
4.43 Ferrari Logo with NART & a gtb/2, as far as I know this is a very rare model of the 275 wich is allready rare... You should call Wayne Carini or Ferrari in Italy for more info
The silver/blue color combination along with the wood accents in the interior is gorgeous.
Unbelievable. That Cobra is perfect. I wonder if Ford would still honour it's commitment and compel Shelby to replace the 428 with a 427?
Amazed at the lack of security on that garage all those years and these gems just sitting there in plain view through the broken windows and rear door.
The first guy in the world who was smart and didn't try to start the engines I love Cobras and Ferraris, but I have some love for that TR6, I could actually afford that one
Wow, what amazing finds, would've loved to have seen the MGTC and TR6 close ups as well. Keep these coming Tom
I think you are referring to the green Morgan, not an MGTC
Agreed. Don't overlook the E30!
E30 is nowhere close to an original Cobra or 275 GTB (racecars). Several millions of value and quality. BMW M3 E30.... mmmm $8,000
@@CaptainFALKEN 8k? Try 100k for an M3 in decent condition. It's not an M3 tho. It's a relatively rare AWD 325i E30. No one really cares about those in the BMW community.
Incredible WOW!
A dream to find these vehicles!! but it is incomprehensible to me how one can let these treasures rot away like this.
I nearly choked on my tea when the garage door was opened and there is a 275 GTB!
Some years ago my elderly neighbors garage door was open,a very quiet peaceful lady that was a retired teacher. In her garage was a Parade green 1957 Chrysler 300c Hemi Conv just hidden away. Her and her late husband bought it new in 1957and they was also married in it. Some years later I asked hey what'd you do with the old car and she said i donated it to my church.
My aunt did that with my uncles '76 C10 that he bought brand new, it was perfect. Wish I could have snagged it, oh well.
Brian Ruff rip u should've snagged it
Wow, idiot.
@@Ruukas9 wow, imbecile
Yes, donate to church (Vatican) who do not have to pay tax and have trillions dol is so smart.
Nobody mentioned the e30 just sitting there
It's worth a couple grand and then there's 2 million dollar cars sitting next to them… I wonder why…
A e30 m3 is worth 50 to 100k now . The one in the video isn't a m3 . My first car was a e36 the best generations of the 3 series was the e30, e36,e46, far as cosmetic looks also the e92
Riki Diki89 Yea they're beautiful cars they get annoying from time to time but you get that with any car .
Some ricer will buy the bmw
Don't get me wrong, I love regular E30's they are one of my favorite cars of all time, but they are a mass produced mid tier sedan. They are getting a little harder to find these days cause many of them have been hacked up into track cars or beaten to death, but they aren't exactly rare. Worth about 3 grand.
Wow, what a find! Just happened to see this in my YT recommendations, today.
Just when you think it can’t get any better then you have this one Truly amazing 👍😁
The mice know what they like !
lazy RRR they love that rare muscle
Why are people so surprised he didn't feature the E30? E30's, while one of my favorite cars, are mass produced and not exactly rare. Worth less than 10k. It's also a 325ix, and those are like the unwanted red headed stepchild in the BMW enthusiast community.
I must admit that I have never done any work on an ix, but from what I hear the stock diffs are incredibly weak.
Because they are being sarcastic.
What a great video! I was an officer for the California Highway Patrol for 27 years, and from time to time I was dispatched to a residence to do a VIN verification for a car owner so they could register it after the vehicle had been out of DMV registration for a number of years. In my career I dreamed of going to a house with a garage like this one, but it never happened. The closest I ever came was doing a VIN verification for a 1958 or 59 Ford Sunliner in the '80's.
Thankyou for this Treasure my only complaint (minor ) is i am that British Guy Nut and you just glossed over the Morgan and Triumph i understand the significance of the Ferrari and the Cobra 100% the entire Video and Collection is definitely going to be difficult to top in this Lifetime but i imagine you will keep trying i’ am very appreciative as now i am Disabled and not actively involved with some of my Lifelong Passions i use KZhead as a form of my Entertainment since i’m retired with a lot of free time available
This episode should of been 2 hours long 🤛
...if it WAS 2 hrs long, we'd want it to be FOUR, AHaahaha
Dennis Ray very true 👌
Suuupppppppeeerrr 👍❗️🇨🇭
One of the greatest barn finds I've ever seen! Amazing! It's to bad KZhead doesn't have smellovision lol!
That was Gold!!! so cool to see that Cobra!!!
