    • I worked on Dodge/Chrysler cars for many years and could tell you almost everything that a early 80’s to mid 90’s stock Dodge truck/car has, everything from the original bolts, nuts and screws but I can’t do that to a Chevy or Ford. The more you take apart and put back together and the more you put your eyes on these cars, it’s amazing how much you know. This guy has been working with these cars for decades obviously.

    • @@GlazzedDonut It's a fair deal and not as if he's losing any money, the car will be worth at least what he is paying for it, and after a lot of work, rather more. In the long term the car may well appreciate in value. But at least the car will be restored, loved, shown and driven - not rusting away in a barn or sitting restored in a plastic bag in a huge darkened and air conditioned underground garage as part of an investment portfolio.

    • To be fair, most people selling barn finds think they're worth a hell of a lot more. Pretty rare to come across a barn find that's cheap, most people know the value and often want top dollar for what are often wrecks requiring 1000s spent on them

  • Need more people like this man in the world. Most buyers would've tried to pick the value of the car apart and after finding out about the engine not being completely stock they would have used that to get over on the owner/widow. Happy to see this man paid the owner what the car was worth !!

He stated multiple times that he wanted to know the value of the car BEFORE he shelled out the $75,000 asking price that the woman's son based off of about 100 internet searches. I was interested in buying this car too, but I didnt have $75k. Then months later I see this video of the same car posted. And he published this video making it impossible for her to get the $75,000. Weird that the appraiser he hired came up with $60-$70k or the $65,000 or shortcutting the dead man's family $10k. Especially since the guy admitted he already was going to offer the lady $65k based on her For Sale Ad asking price.

The restoration would be very time consuming and expensive, but well worth. A unicorn being brought back to life, there are no words. Giving the widow a fair price, was epic. My neighbors mom was sitting on a Boss Mustang for so many years and never knew what she had until we went into her barn looking for some vintage Barbies. A guy flew out from Ft. Worth Texas the following week with his appraiser. She made $48 grand on a car that she had all but forgotten that she had stored away in 1986 after her husband past.

My dad was big into classics and it was always a dream of mine to have a '66 Mustang 289 HiPo and for him and I to restore it together or at least work on it together. I told him about this video and he watched it and was amazed. I believe this was one of the last KZhead videos him and I talked about and shared so much excitement on. He passed away Dec. 28, 2020. He is missed tremendously. Now not only is this video an amazing barn find, but it is a refreshing memory I have of my father and something to remind me of the torch I too carry. I hope him and my mother can see me and they are proud. They told me I did make them proud, but I'll never stop trying even more. I love you Mama and Daddy. Rest in Peace and hopefully we will see each other again down the road.

The guy that owns it got it from his dad, that found it back in the early 70’s, paid $3,500 for it. It comes with all the pedigree needed , including a letter from Steve asking to buy it, it sat in a barn for 35 yrs after his mom drove it to her school teaching job when the clutch went out and it was parked! It still has the camera mounts and cutouts for the movie equipment! I’m sure with a little search you can find the story, I saw it on a network news show this morning!

  • It is nice to see a truly honest guy in any kind of Biz these days. I owned a small gun shop for a while back in 93 I had a little old lady ( Widow ) bring a Antique unrestored fully functioning S&W Russian Revolver over in a small Burlap drawstring bag. She was asking for $30. I had know Idea if it was Authentic or if it was a replica not worth much of anything but I knew $30 was a ridiculously low price so I offered $125 then brought the revolver to a local legendary Gunsmith he told me it was a $500 gun and wanted it for his own personal collection. I felt good about it and where it would end up so I left it with him got back to the shop called the Lady in and gave her another $125 so we split the sale proceeds. The next day a man claiming to be her son walked through the shop door and I was waiting for whatever bad thing that was about to happen to get over with and to my surprise he thanked me for helping his Mom and treating her fairly. That incident sowed the seed for a permanent philosophy regarding how I continued to conduct all business. For me the Fair thing felt better than a unfairly large profit at someone else's expense.

I have so much respect for these dudes and the wealth of knowledge they possess in regards to their passion for automobiles. Superb human beings and absolutely classy as well as honest. Makes me wonder if it was just the Shelby that was the rare find. So glad I randomly viewed this. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Seattle!

  • This was really awesome, so interesting! I love cars so much, but I don’t go crazy over them....although we have the cash to do it, my husband doesn’t share my zeal, and that affects my desire to drop a wad of cash on an old-albeit classic-car. So I get vicarious thrills from watching videos like this! Thanks!

    • @Imix Muan congratulations on your success as a vet! Obviously I didnt mean to mislead anyone into thinking that the cat had arrived when the barn was built and had been dutifully exterminating varmits for the last 50 odd years. Sometimes my humor can be a tad dry, thank you for pionting out that what i had written was completely illogical and thus allowing me to follow up with this clarification. Best wishes and thanks again!

    • @Imix Muan hi friend its me again! So it dawned on me that despite the age and disposition of the cats reproductive system it is well within reason that during his relatively short tenure as barn mouser he has protected the vehicles contained within from damage. So although you are correct that something else protected the cars before the arrival of the current cat its unreasonable to think that he didnt also dutifully kill rodents that would have otherwise chewed and pooped on valuable cars stored in the barn. Since the abscence of rodents does not prove that there were no rodents to begin with I guess we just have to settle with accepting my original statement was in fact accurate. Take care, talk again soon!

    • @Imix Muan My young neutered cat was an awesome mouser. He would also hunt any fly or insect in the house. Once he leaped up about five feet and grabbed a fly out of the air. You may be a vet but you don't know shit about cats.
