Rare 427 Cobra and Ferrari 275 extracted from condemned garage | Barn Find Hunter - Ep. 25
In this episode of Barn Find Hunter, Tom Cotter returns to the scene of his latest, greatest find: a garage in suburban Charlotte, North Carolina, housing five forgotten cars. Among them are a 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/2 Long-nose Alloy coupe and a 1967 Shelby Cobra 427. The uninhabited house and garage have been condemned by the local municipality and are scheduled for demolition soon, so the cars need to be moved to a secure location. With no local towing companies willing to take on the risk of moving such valuable cars, Tom and his friends set out to transport this amazing stash to a warehouse where they’ll reside until being offered at Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island Auction on March 9, 2018.

Wonder if Ford would still make the Shelby corporation put the proper 427 in the Cobra???
Lets start the bidding. Red Cobra 10K . Ferrari 50K.
I would think that has to be WAY on the low side for both. I'm thinking 50k for the Cobra and 90k for the Ferrari. With such rarity, low mileage, condition, and how complete they are they'll go big. Amelia Island is a big show and people with deep pockets are going to be there.
your crazy both of them cars will go over $1,000,000
Brandy Lawson Let's START the bidding!
I wish my garage was as nice as that "condemned" garage.
stgolling1603 Rich people🤔
Any time you have a "man representing the owner" you know there's some serious money somewhere there.
stgolling1603 Howard Hughes weirdo type...lol
Facts
I was about to to make a similar response. I helped my brother on a landscaping contract in an exclusive neighborhood in Fort Worth, the owners paid 200 or 250,000 for the house and lot , tore down the house and built a new 1,000,000 house in it's place.
That Cobra, is an absolutely gorgeous example of mechanical art! I have always loved them and always will.
it was pleasure watching this 2 videos
I am delighted with the attitude towards these unique cars. True classics deserve special attention and Tom is there to take care.
You are the FIRST intellectual, hillbilly, car enthusiasts ever. I watch all your episodes, great work.
Holy crap. That cobra is magnificent
Findind cars like these is a gold mine find, that is more then golden.
Most exciting episode to date. Thanks for sharing.
Lots of people asking about the e30 not being included but the triumph tr6 was left in the dark too!, don’t forget the “normal” cars tom !, we love them and they are still affordable for the masses!, great show, keep em coming 🇬🇧
Amazing to see someone dedicated to a specific hobby, finally making a big accomplishment in the field he is passionate about! Congrats Tom!
Mo-hammad Abunaser Finally making a big accomplishment in the field he is passionate about??? You must not know anything about Tom Cotter.
this is no "accomplishment" really. it's just luck lol. it's not like this was his goal all along.
with your logic, finding $100 on the ground is an accomplishment. simply not true
For Tom Cotter this is way more than "luck". He literally wrote a book titled "Cobra in the Barn" in 2010. He has a whole underlying logic and work ethic to his searching. Finding a $100 dollar bill on the ground is indeed not an accomplishment. But it is a very respectable accomplishment if you can figure out _where_ you are most likely to find money on the ground, _when_ you are most likely to find money, _who_ is most likely to drop money; _and_ you can replicate finding money on the ground with reliability. Tom may not find $100 bills (Cobras) every day, but it is no accident that he came across that $100 bill because he applies himself, puts in work, and finds $5s, $10s, $20s, and $50s with regularity.
okay okay, you do have a good point. i apologise for minimalizing his effort and accomplishments. I do have a different point of view/opinion of barn finds now so thank you
Tom seems like the coolest car dude on earth. I look forward to these episodes like nothing else on KZhead.
I don't consider myself a car guy but I've watched Top Gear, I used to watch MotorWeek as a kid, My Classic Car, and others and I have to say that I REALLY enjoy this series. Tom is awesome, knowledgable, and has a great way about him. It's well produced technically and they are finding great cars. Kudos all around and I like the idea that you're branching out a bit. There's a LOT of ground that you can cover when it comes to classic cars. Can't wait for the next one!
Tom thanks so much for taking us along with you for this. Just an incredible story to see unfold. Mentally I have a hard time letting it sink it really. If we did not see it then it would only sound like a tall story.
THE DUST little crash and crusty rusty are very priceless on his cars very nice jobs
What a find! So glad to see these treasures rescued so that someone else will be able to enjoy and cherish them! The Cobra and Ferrari are amazing cars. The Triumph and Morgan aren’t a bad find either. Can never understand why people buy such amazing driving cars and then let them sit, and don’t enjoy them for their intended purpose.
Honestly the part of the job that puts people off the most. But I find most satisfying the recovery of the vehicle. Always so full of surprises but such a sense of accomplishment when done. Good job man!
This has got to be the coolest way to move cars around. I have never seen this in my life.
50 years ago when I was still in high school I visited a farm where the family had a 1959 Ford retractable hardtop, a 1969 Lincoln Mark III and a 1961 Lincoln Continental sitting in a barn all with low mileage. They didn't drive them regularly but kept them licenced. For everyday use they drove pickups, some that were rare in their own right even when new like a 1959 Jeep cab over pickup truck. This along with literally dozens of old cars and trucks that littered their property it was a gear heads dream.
I don't get these people. They don't drive these cars, and they won't sell them. They just sit on them.
stgolling1603 My neighbor has an 78 Silver Anniversary Corvette with less then 20K on it, car is 100% original even the tires, only oil changes. I've lived next door to him since 2011 and I've heard it run maybe 15 to 20 times and him drive it maybe 5 times the car no lie looks brand new, who would buy a 78 Vette new and say I'm never going to drive it... but I guess that's how these rare low millage cars come up on Barrett Jackson and auctions like that or on the concourse level shows!
Thanks for taking us along.
A lot of People Dreams all the life with a Barn Find Like This The Cobra and one 60s Ferrari very impresive and Beautifull Cars
I envy these guys with these beautiful barn finds.
Best personality in the business !
All these exotics and I am sitting here staring at that E30.
Still *so* amazed by this find! Really spectacular!!
oh my god...wonderful to find a ferrari in this condition !!!
Great episode Tom, very happy for your Barn Find for the ages! Enjoy all the episodes.
Tom I am inspired by you, your just such a humble guy, I've learned a lot by watching your videos.
Gorgeous garage (even though it's condemned). I love seeing those old beauties rolling out into the sunlight for the first time in decades - there's something so magical and surreal about it.
That transition at 2:50, well done mr editor, daaaamn.
I like this part of finding old cars too.
Can't wait to see the auction episode of this. This is amazing you guys put together in my opinion the best show on KZhead. I'm in the UK and addicted to watching, keep up the good work
Thanks for posting this video! Enjoyed watching it!
GREAT Video ! Love it ! Back in 1982, my GF's Uncle had a 1964 Jaguar XKE Coupe in British Racing Green stashed away in a barn. When I saw it, it only had 40k miles on it. Had been sitting since 1970. Unmoved since then. After his passing in 2010. His son inherited. His son promptly molested it buy yanking out the original drivetrain and installing a Chevy Small block in it. He further molested it by painting it GRAY. Takes all kinds doesn't it ?
Great finds Tom! You have truly lived the 'dream come true' car enthusiast experience. Very rare opportunity! Great Videos - thanks!
the fact that these cars are still out there to be found is astounding! how on earth do these types of cars end up sitting for 30 years?
Please keep your promise to show us the auction of those two amazing cars! Love to see the conclusion of what they were worth and where they ended up. Thanks guys, great video series...I've watched 'em all! Cheers, from Singapore.
I just need to win the lottery, and id grab that cobra. It's one of the best looking cars ever built, and that one is actually in amazing condition. I'd love to see it restored to original condition. That would make an awesome series of videos.
Thank you for saving automotive history. You're doing God's work.
pretty sure god would hate the things that kill his sheeple and pollute the beautiful planet he made from twine and clay...thats like saying saving a gun from destruction would make god happy
What has you imaginary fiend/friend got to do with anything?
gods work ? I didn't see any alcoholic wife beating Christians any where did YOU??
Phoenix Franks God doesn't care about crappy cars .
JJ Mac THOSE WHO DENY GOD HE WILL DENY YOU IN HEAVEN
That auction is gonna be nuts!
Great video as always, how can someone put away and leave a Cobra and a Ferrari in their garage for years with just 19k on them? Just leave them there for the mice to enjoy? I will never understand that. A genuine Cobra would be my dream car just on it's own, I would look at it every day. I'd probably knock a wall down and park it inside my house!
A Hoarder. A Hoarding with a TON of MONEY ! Hoarding is a Mental Health Disorder. Don't knock Mental Health Disorders. Chances are you have one or someone you love has one. THERE IS HELP OUT THERE !
I concluded he must be a hoarder as the house from the outside is in rough shape. I’m going to go out on a limb and assume the inside is worse.
Don't think he was a hoarder, I just think a collector that had so much money (multi millionaire) and no time or appetite to deal with them
I disagree on both accounts. This was likely a wealthy loner car enthusiast like a doctor or lawyer who fell on hard times or a health condition with no family around. These cars were clearly loved and this classy owner had great taste. Sad story likely, but so glad they were so well preserved like a time capsule. Very lucky they didn’t get stolen all those years.
I would like to see more of this sometime in the future.
I'll probably never see these cars in person. But thank you for doing this. I hope they are left un-restored
Congratulations on this incredible find! I’d probably keel over from a heart attack if I walked into that garage. Just amazing!🤩
What a juicy video! Thanks, Tom
Excellent video Tom!!!! I'd give this a thousand thumbs up. And these "Classic Car Rescue" episodes should happen more often. Show what happens after you find something. Oh btw, I love Mavericks. :-)
you've LIVED it! good for you!
What Dreams Are Made Of!! Incredible!!
love your bricknose hauler!! good to see it!
This is great ! Love this series
Two beautiful cars right there!
Yes, yu lived it and thanks for sharing , thumbs up for this one.
It would have been enough to find just one of those in the garage but to find as many as you did is probably once in a lifetime.
What a perfect way to encapsulate that find with a very fitting part 2. I’ll be following them all the way to Amelia Island for part 3! I don’t believe I’ll be bidding however. Great show man!👍🏻🇮🇹🇺🇸Keep finding!
That Ferrari is stunningly magnificent.
That's awesome Tom!
I did a complete set of body drawings for the 428 AC but left them behind under my drawing table in Saabs styling studio 1982 when I returned to Germany.
WOW what a rush!
love it Tom you are the man
ok, can you make an episode on 7.3 Ford diesel? that looks equally epic!
This was a great episode!
AWESOME! Nice job!
Great experience as you said ounce in a lifetime pretty cool all right. 👍
great show tom, thx!
❤️ the 7.3 dually!
Lol my man giving out a shout out to the ol' ford 7.3 diesel
Best diesel Ford ever put in a pickup. I'm partial to the 12v's because I like the simplicity. But there's no denying the 7.3 Powerstroke is legendary.
Awesome Work team Hagerty,, again WOW thanks for saving these TREASURES Max ofalltrades
King Tut's Tomb, accurate. Glad you helped do this
Props on saving them.
Ooo a tr6 in the back.... nice!
I had a 1970 Maverick, I’d love to have another
Awesome. Just Awesome.
Thanks for getting them out of garage.
I want that Triumph back there ooh thats nice.
I only wish my garage was that spacious.
Great cobra.. man!!!
Different from the rest but I think this was actually one of my favorite episodes so far 👍
You guys earned your keep that day
Big fan of both of those cars
I like those car dollies! Those are really nice!
Thank God, I'm glad they're saved, because I was worried.
Beautiful cars
Awesome finds!
I absolutely love those dollies!!! Invaluable in the shop or wherever they're needed for deadhead cars!!! I'd love to give the inventor a sturdy heartfelt handshake and buy him a good stiff drink if ever met ! Great stuff guys! ▪☆☆☆¤
Old rich men hanging onto old dreams whilst they corrode away in the garage...it's great to see these beauties will go to new homes and be looked after, possibly even driven once in a while.
I am happy for you !!!!
That Cobra is so badass! I got to go for a ride in a Cobra kit car it had a 351ci in it and even with that motor that car was crazy quick I couldn't imagine how crazy a 427ci Cobra must be!
Most excellent life you lead ;) Thanks for the professionaly filmed short & sweet segments. Like PiNK FLOYD sang ~~ Wish i was there ~~
Heuuu... by the way : Why were you sweeping a garage floor that is about to be torned-down { pardon my french } ???
Awesome. Congrats.
Always good shows, but really liked the hands on (just not on the paint!) and seeing them do something with the cars- would like to see more episodes like this, maybe some with his restoration friend. Keep finding those Chimeras!
glad to hear they saved everything. the bmw was one of my favs! definitely becoming a classic! the only annoying thing about this show is seeing him walk past e30s, merkurs, and supras like they arent there lol. to each his own i guess and good to at least see them!
nice find and nice story
Hands down, this is one of the best automotive channels here in KZhead. Unlike those pip squeak wannabe car enthusiasts.
more of this please! I want to know the rest of these cars history.
Very cool!
I can't wait to see what's next for that Ferrari 275 and I hope the future owner drives it.
The TR 6 I would love it. Owned a TR 3 for four years.
That must be a very good, safe neighbourhood. How did they not get stolen all those years alone and clearly unprotected??? Where is this place?
Wish I could find a nice E30 like that in my barn/garage.
My first classic was a 77 Chevelle Malibu. The break caliper was locked up, but I still managed to drive it home. Luckily I only lived a mile away. Now I drive a 75 Chevelle Laguna.
