Phenom 300E - What's new in 2022 - First Impressions

The interior of the 300E is available in three configurations. The maximum number of occupants in a single available layout is 11 (one pilot, ten passengers), which includes a belted lavatory seat and a two-person divan opposite the main entry door. When that divan is replaced with a single-seat, the total is reduced to ten. The seat opposite the entry door is replaced with storage/galley features for nine occupants.
Another enhancement for pilots and passengers is the upgrade of airborne connectivity to Gogo's Avance L5 air-to-ground system, which provides much faster service in the United States and many areas of Canada, allowing movie streaming, emails with attachments, and Gogo's Text & Talk service. Avance L5 does necessitate two rather large antennas mounted on the fuselage's bottom, but the faster service makes these worthwhile.
The most noticeable difference in the new Phenom 300E is its more powerful Pratt & Whitney PW535E1 engines, which have 3,478 pounds of thrust, an increase of 118 pounds per engine. The increased power allows for faster ascents and a new top speed of Mach.80 or 464 knots true airspeed, up from Mach.78 and 446 knots previously. Thanks to some extra power margin built into the engines, the power was increased via a software change to the engines' full authority digital electronic engine controls.
Engineers at Embraer were able to carve out additional fuel volume, and the 300E now carries an additional 50 pounds, increasing range to more than 2,100 nautical miles at long-range cruise speed. The maximum payload remains at 2,436 pounds, but the payload with maximum fuel increases by 26 pounds to 1,387 pounds.
The new 300E gives you the option of going faster or slower and going farther. For example, at long-distance cruise speed, the range with six occupants is 2,010 nautical miles. At top cruise speed, that decreases to 1,865 nautical miles. Those figures are for the base airplane; most buyers will opt for typically equipped configurations, which means you could fly the 1,865 nautical miles at high speed with five occupants rather than six.
Taller pilots will appreciate the extra space on the flight deck. Embraer was able to increase the length of the pilot seat tracks by 40 percent by moving the bulkheads behind the pilot seats further aft and redesigning the location of some items that live in the bulkhead area. Although it may not appear to be much, the flight deck can now comfortably accommodate pilots up to six feet four inches tall, resolving a problem with the Phenom 300.
Pilots will also appreciate the new avionics capabilities in the Prodigy Touch flight deck, which is based on the Garmin G3000. New avionics display hardware with much faster processors, higher resolution, and improved map-panning features are included. Furthermore, Embraer has included an emergency descent mode as a standard feature, which autonomously flies the plane to a lower altitude in the event of decompression at high altitudes.

  • Whenever I get on a jet that has the raised seats like that instead of a flat floor, it's really annoying. FLAT FLOOR is the only way to go.
